What is the biggest fish you have every lost?
I was in the Florida Keys fishing docks for snook/redfish with a bucktail jig and I was using one of my bass rods which handles the snook and reds pretty well. Anyhow a tarpon that was nearly as long as I am tall grabbed up the bucktail and took off like a raped ape. It ruined my daiwa reel and left me sittin there weak in the knees. Biggest bass I ever lost I estimate around 13 but the cool thing is when that fish threw my bait (culprit jerk worm, red shad color) another bass picked it up and I landed her. She went 10 even. Guess they were schoolies??

Ecogear plastics
Ok, I guess I posted in the wrong place before...anyhow, has anybody else ever heard of these? They all appear to be really good plastics. http://www.specialtytackle.com/browseproducts/Ecogear---4-1-2-Inch-Double-Face-004.HTML

Do You Remember Your First Bass?
I remember it like it was yetserday! I was 5 years old fishing at my grandma's pond with my mom and dad. My dad rigged me up a weightless t-rigged green shad culprit worm on my zebco 33 'cuz I had asked him to. I remembered seeing BIll Dance on TNN fishin in the lilly pads so I was down there fishin in the pads. Mom told me I would get hung and lose my dads hook and I told her I had seen them do this on TV and she called me a smarta$$. Well I kept fishin in there and sure enough I nailed one, probably bout a 12 incher. Funniest thing was it splashed my mom when I got it close to the bank. No more comments from mom ;D I am 22 now and have been hooked ever since then

biggest bass youve ever caught?
11lb 8oz hawg from Florida 10lbs even from the same spot couple of 9's from a local private lake numerous 8's from 'round my area and my best to date sine I have been in Kentucky is 7lbs 9oz when I was home on leave from Iraq last June. I have started to wonder whether my 7-9 toad is a largemouth or a spot because his mouth is so small and his fins are connected.

Tips for a new bass fisherman
Well welcome to the best sport in the world and the forum! I'll tell you from my experience as a bank fosherman, things will heat up with the weather. Being winter the fish seem to be deeper for the most part. That doesn't mean all of them but in my experience, most will be this time of year. When spring rolls around you won't be able to get your line out in the water quick enough.

3 yr old daughter already has a bait monkey
Well guys, I have learned that the bait monkey has no shame...My 3 year old daughter has reeled in a few bass I have hooked and now he has found her. We were at Wal Mart yesterday and she told me that she "MUST" have more of the green wormies. She was referring to the super fluke jr. that I was catchin them on at a local lake. So today I will take her to feed her monkey and we're gonna hit the lake. I guess there could be worse addictions for her to have growin up. LOL

Senkos, Texas or Wacky???
Thanks for all the input guys. I am gonna try the wacky rig next time I go out. Most of the fish on these lakes at Ft. Campbell have seen a million and a half lures thrown at them so I think it will work pretty well.

Senkos, Texas or Wacky???
I have been fishin Senkos texas rigged with no weight but have yet to fish them wacky style. Which produces best for you guys, and as far as the wacky rig what do you use and how to rig yours??

Most effective techniques
The zoom super fluke prodused massive numbers for me while I was at home and not in Iraq. I caught my biggest fish thid year (7.9 lbs) on a buzzbait but I have always went to that for a big bite in the summer. I just got into the Senko and haven't fished it wacky rigged yet but plan on it. I plan on using jigs and cranks more this coming year.

Cold front coming, X RAP help
I used an X-RAP for the first time about a month ago on Kentucky lake with cold weather conditions and was pleasantly surprised. Find a bank around midday that has warmed up and is holding baitfish (shad) and throw your X-RAP. You'll put a hurtin' on 'em! I love this new Rapala!!! Good luck!

How to fish water with heavy moss underneath?
Fish a fluke, baby bass color or original rapala in the color of whatever forage is there. Used to fish a lake back home that sounds like the one you mentioned. Good luck!

small pond help
Hey, it's never too cold to fish unless it's iced over. I used to live in Florida when I was younger and fished farm ponds almost exclusively. Use T-rigged or weightless soft plastics in the shallower water and go slllllooooooooooow with them in the cold weather. As far as the spawn follow the weather advice previously stated. Once you spot a fish give it a while and come back to it later, cuz it probably saw you. When you come back, cast PAST the bed from a ways off. I used to love catching the spawners in FL. Try a super fluke or super fluke jr. any time of year. I got hooked on those for small water, can't beat 'em! Good luck!

small water fishing
Also, the vegetation you mentioned sounds like it is algae. That stuff will cling to anything no matter how weedless it is!
-
small water fishing
I like to downsize just a lil bit for small water. I like to throw a super fluke jr. on about a 2/O offset worm hook with no weight. Works great for me and also like previously stated topwaters can pay off good too if conditions are right. Good luck!

Whats your craziest catch?
I have had quite a few!! Have caught a Talapia on a lake in Lakeland FL on a redshad culprit. Caught the biggest bluegill of my life on a rapala shadrap in bluegill color!! Hooked a gator before and caught numerous mudfish or dogfish, whatever ya'll call 'em. My buddy and I used to intentionally fish for those! They put up a helluva fight! If ya wanna try it use a bright (white with pink tail) grub anywhere in the south on still water fished texas style. Big fun when you're messin around!
