  1. Paycheck Baits has em, but its under a new name. It is now known as the Repo Man and they are improved. http://www.paycheckbaits.com/Products.html
  2. Heavy fliiping is the best way to get to those fish. Up to a 2oz weight if needed. Then pick it a part.
  3. The best trends are always the one's I start. Bottom line is fish with what you are comfortable and confident in and thats it. With constant improvements in gear things are always gonna change. So start you own trend and fish with what you like instead of what others tell you is the best.
  4. Most productive would be a drop shot, Shakey Head is funner though.
  5. I find the new Powell Endurance 775 to be a great rod. Its also very versatile as you can use it for a ton of other techniques.
  6. Depending on where Im fishing I use a 1oz the most this time of year.
  7. David is right on in his advice. I will add that for punching and flipping I use the Revo S. No need to spend more for a punch reel that Im gonna abuse. I have STX's and Premiers on all my other casting rods. One thing I dont get from another post is the reels being finicky. I find em very easy to adjust.
  8. I somewhat disagree. Im not gonna say there is better, but there are plenty equally as good for less money. I was a GLoomis guy for years, all I owned and fished was GLX rods. But with the improvement in rods over the past 10 years there are plenty of very good rods on the market for much less money. That said the rod he bought is a good rod, and I think he will like it.
  9. The Veritas is much lighter then the Vendetta. Both are good rods. The Verdict is nicer, and its 36. There is no doubt that the Verdict is a step above, you got nice stuff. Cant wait till ya hook yer first fish on it.
  10. My S is buttery smooth. When cleaned and serviced properly they are very nice. I just did mine this weekend and wow, what a difference. Id suggest having all the 09's serviced if you have not done so.
  11. Personally I hate those bags. I can put 32 bags into a Plano out of the bag. Its faster and easier to find em and get back in the water. $20 get me 4 plano plastic storage containers. Dont get me wrong I have about 7 of those bags. They are now used for tools for the boat, culling balls and scale, balance beam. But if your on the go, and its convenient then its not bad, however I still prefer a day pak. ( I think they are Plano 3700 series)
  12. I hear that. Since I started fishing swim baits, a swim bait was a big lire. I started with a MS Slammer and a Hudd(before they were in stores). I have a hard time with the hollow bodies and paddle tails being referred to as a swim bait. I know I know, but that's just how I remember it. People fish em differently in different areas of the country to.
  13. I got to check em out a few months back. Put a reel on it and messed around with it. Didnt notice any 'rough butt' thing at all. The rod balanced very well. Personally I dont intend to adjust the butts at all, Im a big guy so I dont really need to shorten the rod butt. Besides I have other reaction rods for cranks, top water, and rip baits. One thing you need to keep in mind. The Verdict is a V rod, as are the Vendetta and Veritas. They are the same, but with different carbon quality. The Nano technology is neat stuff and allows them to make the rod blank thinner, while maintaining and increasing strength and sensitivity. Id suggest you check em out for your self. I also reccomend you take the reel you intend to put on the rod. Mount the reel on the rod, run the line through the eyes and then you can check it out. If you dont have any casting plugs get one and tie it on. Its the next best thing to fishing with it.
  14. There really is nothing wrong with the SX, it just seems to be the odd reel out in the Revo line. Meaning for the little extra money you can get an STX. Personally I use Revo S models for pitching flippin and punching. STX and Premiers for everything else casting. I really like all of them, just no need for the light and more expensive models for flip/pitch and punch.
  15. I have seven of em, and 12 Verdicts if I ever order em.
  16. Im working on some more organization as I bought some more product and storage containers. Bonus score, my wife got me a nice garage dresser for me to use also.
  17. I switched from Power Pro to Spiderwire and couldnt be happier. However I have not tried it on spinning gear, but it is smoother.
  18. This is my rig as well but with Big Game 15lb and a Powell 684 cranking rod. For some reason I love this rod for square bills. Id throw 3/8 spinner baits with the same rig, as well as poppers.
  19. Id suggest Smart Craft gauge, it gives alot of useful information.
  20. Since you can use a good braid for a year or more, its seems it is already inexpensive. I suggest just buying something reputable like Spiderwire, or any of the other popular lines.
  21. If tied with care the Palomar is fine and has served me will. For worms and sof craw baits I use the BMF or Punch hook and snell the hook.
  22. The Osprey is decent, the SKT swimmer is awesome(6in), Baitsmith I just dont like. Also look into the Big Hammer swim baits and heads, very under talked about and a terrific bait. The Rago BVD is also a great bait. Not sure the seze fish your dealing with in your area, but I caught a 2lb smallie and a 2.4 LM yesterday on a 6 in swim bait. I do own a ton of Ospreys, but I prefer the SKT and BVD.
  23. I mix both in. Yesterday I caught fish on a swim bait(bigger) and tubes, and drop shot 6 in worms. The tube produce the bigger LM. I also like Zippers, the 5in zipper is a bulky looking bait that moves water, but is compact. Full size brush hogs are great for stitching. Carolna rigged lizards in the 8 or 10 in size are also good. Jig with a full size brush hog can be deadly also. However I catch more on the DS.
  24. I voted Veritas. The more I fish em the more I like em. Had you listed a Verdict as a choice Id a gone that way as I think many of the rods are still a bit more then the Verdict.
