Drop Shot & Your Biggest Bass?
The drop shot catches all sizes of bass, and other fish from time to time. My biggest is 8+ on 6lb test. Today I got a 3 and a couple around 2. It really depends on the body of water your on, and the quality of fish.

Ok, I tried the Baby Rage Craw....
Went fishing today and did pretty good for the lake we were on. Not a winning weight, but a top 5 for sure, some day maybe a winner. : Anyway I had 2 swimbait fish in the boat in 20 minutes. Then the sun hit the water, and it was like someone hit a switch. It was blue bird post front conditions. Took a while, but nothing was working so I figured Id give the Rage Craw a go. To be honest I love the action, although I never got bit on it. Then again I didnt get bit on alot of my stand by stuff. Quick thoughts, Ill use this bait more. The action is great, the profile is good. With prespawn right around the corner Ill be giving this more time. Well unless the Swim bait is being chewed!

Hummingbird vs Lowrance Sidescan?
I have both. The HDS in my opinion has a better picture. The Humminbird is much more user friendly. I wasnt to keen on the idea of an extra $600 for the side imaging for the HDS. Matter of fact I paid that for the 798 for my console. I love the bird, after having problems with other Lowrance products and being shunned by customer service I went to Humminbird, and will be getting a bigger unit for the front.

Combination shakyhead/dropshot rod question
Yes it is an 83/200. I bought my wife a Berkley Select 6ft M years ago. I tried to replace it for her with many rods, she dont want em. I got to fish with it once, great rod for drop shotting. If I could get another one I would. Until then I use a bit longer rod. Didnt realize you were fishing a Kayak. I do that every once in a while. Its a kick.

Combination shakyhead/dropshot rod question
I dont know what others consider deep, as far as the rest of the country. But for me here in California Im usually DS 30ft down to 70ft. Even at 30ft deep the cone of the graph is pretty wide. Even if I used a 8ft rod(I dont) I can still see my bait. Actually I checked it with my jig rod which is an 8ft rod. Ill experiment with it some tomorrow while Im on the lake. Im hoping not to drop shot, but ya never know.

Jigs that rattle or don't rattle?
I used to fish alot of ratttle jigs. Now a days Im more for no rattle, unless the water is real muddy.

What line to use?
I like fluoroclear also, but it needs to be changed often. Id suggest 15lb Big Game in green. Great line for both techniques.

Professional bass coverage........

baitcast reels
Interesting thing about the Steez, well and a few others. I stopped by the local tackle shop today, I have a friend there. His main job is commercial fishing, rod and reel type. We got to talking about reels, and he whispered that the Steez is not a good quality reel. He takes all the reels apart and checks out the design and quality of parts inside, then said it is a problem reel. Ive not fished em, and would never buy one as Im not into spending that for a reel. He is a Diawa guy by the way, and he said that the Zillion is a much better reel.

If this doesnt get you to start throwing trout swimbaits...
Directed at me? :-? Just curious who you're pointing at... Pulling web videos from a trophy hunter? Do you have a better video to share than anything Butch Brown has shown? Do you think I just went to YouTube and typed in "super awesome trophy bass fishing with hella cool trout swimbaits"? Nah, not my style. I offered that up as a better video demonstration of what big bait fishing can produce. Those bass in a "hawg tank" would eat a fast sinking turd most of the time. Take any type fish that has not been in that tank, dump it in there around feeding time and see what happens. Keep catching the biggest fish in your waters and I'll keep doing the same here. When the ice melts... No, sorry I deleted the post. I was a bit out of it.

Which Veritas (spinning) for tubes and wacky senkos?
*Perfect is not a good word for 2 different techniques. But if I had to select one Abu for those, it would be the 7ft MH spinning, or better yet the 7ft M casting.

Best line for jig / worm fishing
Yeah, what he said. I dont tie leaders at all. To me it is a big hassle and not needed. If I need braid, its tied directly to the bait. If not is 100% fluorocarbon. Yes I punch with it to, 25lb is plenty strong. Deep fishing is 6 all the way to 15lb for me.

New rod/reel combo for Rage Craws
To be perfectly honest, I do like the look of the bait. I do own some(not many though). What it comes down to is having to much variety and then I dont use something, or cant find it when I want it. The GYCB stuff is not going anywhere, I own a several year supply cause it flat out works great. It just comes down to confidence. Once I start punching, it over. They are to bulky for my taste as far as punching. But since you insist Ill buy one more color(I have blk/blue flake) and give it a try. Say something closer to green pumpkin. But, I have a hard time putting down the brush hog, but Ill rig one rod with it.

Revo Premier?
Sounds good to me. Your gonna have a nice set of combo's goin and I think you'll like that they are one or 2 brands. I usually have alot of rods in prefish, but come tournament day Im usually pretty dedicated to what I figured out. I prefer to only have 3 rods out, but thats rare. Im closer to 5 or 6.

Revo Premier?
Yeah I'm working towards all revos myself. Although I do have an Orra sx that is absolutley unbeleiveable for the price so its hard not to buy more of those... Using the same series of reel makes sense. I use all Revos, but 3 different models. The Revo S is on my Flip/Punch rods, the STX for pitching and casting rods, and the Premier where I want the lightest and most sensitive set up(jigs and plastics). I took your advice last week and ordered a 7'3" MH Veritas for pitching 1/4oz and up plastics and jigs. I think I will mount that Premier I just purchased on this rod. Should be a sweet set up. I have a revo S on my 7'6" veritas and using it for jigs/punching and carolina rigging. Have an sx on a 7'2" Carrot and use it for lipless cranks and regular cranks. This set up casts a country mile and is so smooth. I want to switch to all Abu rods but I think this will be my only set up that I just cant part with so I will have one orange rod in the bunch. Very good choice, thats the reel I use on that rod as well, I have 2 of that set up. I hae a few more Premiers still in box's waiting for the Verdicts to get here before I decide where I want em.

Restocking the tacklebox/Show it off.
I have alot of experience on the lakes in Northern California. I usually pack the boat depending on where Ill be fishing. Then pack a few "what if" baits and Im good to go. But last year I screwed up. Went to a tournament expecting to power fish and ended up having to buy a drop shot rod. >:(I wont make that mistake again.

Restocking the tacklebox/Show it off.
so since you have 40,000 times more gear than I do, does that mean you catch 40,000 times more fish? haha just kidding but that does seem pretty darn excessive. I think I am going to have to send those pics to my girlfriend so she stop thinking I spend too much on tackle. Im not sure, but its fair to say that I catch quite a few fish. Im going thurday. I have several sponsors to so I get some stuff free. But, the Zoom and Reaction Innovations stuff I buy in large quantities. Say 20 packs of each color of my favs, and maybe 5 of a few others. Ive also been doing this for a while, so it builds up over time. When I go to a Pro/Am I tend to spend a few hundred bucks every time. Ive stopped doing that with new styles. I was getting to many different baits. I couldnt keep track of em and I wasnt using them. Made my friends very happy every fall when I clean out inventory. I also buy a case of new Plano's every year. I replace the oldest most beat up boxes with new. I have a friend likes the old ones. There are usually some baits left in them for him to use. I moved the stuff to my garage 8 months ago and I still cant get it the way I want. Some crazy lady who says she is my wife keeps demanding half the garage. > I used to have a sponsor that was a custom pour expert. Guy was always giving me more and more. He would make my preferred colors and do an amazing job. Unfortunately he passed on 2 years ago. I still have plenty of inventory though. Those are kept in the plastic drawers below.I really need to get the drawers organized and labeled, thats my last bit to do.
