Quality reel for a hundred bucks ?
Rooster I have both Extremes and PQs, and there is no comparison between the two. The PQ is a better reel in every way. As far as the PQs being disposable reels, only time will tell, but you Shimano guys who find it necessary to beat up on other brands are not really helping anything. Glenn has said over and over if you like something, tell why you like it without beating on other brands. This forum would be more helpful if that policy was actually followed. There are many of us who have put many hours on PQs reels with no problems. Shimano makes fine stuff for the most part, but do not drink the Kool Aid that they are superior to anything out there at any price point.

Would you rather. . .
Amen!

Music on board?
I agree with RoLo that what you you do in your boat is your own bidnis. In my boat I would rather have a snake than music blaring, and I don't like snakes and really like music. When camping or fishing, the quiet and the sounds of nature are a big part of the appeal to me. Edit: I don't mind talking to myself. Every now and then I say something that makes sense. :

Morris
I like the feel of the PQ better.

stained or clear?
Like Senile 1, I would take the clearer lake. That is based on my experience on the lakes I usually fish. Your mileage may vary.

First Album you bought?
The Beatles-Abbey Road.

Best worm hook?
I've been using Gammy EWG and superline EWGs for years. "Best" is in the eye of the user. They work for me.

Dragging a Bait Uphill or down hill?
Catt this has not been my experience, unless fishing very steep drops in very deep water.
-
KVD or the Field?
Betting against KVD is a probably a really bad idea, but I'll take the field on this one.

Dragging a Bait Uphill or down hill?
Exactly. A heavier bait (with a faster rate of fall) will also help in keeping contact as you work down hill.

Versatility - what makes one versatile?
Great answer. That knowledge and confidence only comes from experience. I can read and watch everything available on bass fishing (a good idea IMO), but until I figure out what works for me it is all theory. Preparation is also a big part of versatility IMO. You do not need high end sonar, gear, or boat to be a versatile and successful fisherman. A good topo map can eliminate a huge amount of water, and allow you to put together a basic plan even if you've never seen the lake before the day you fish it. Once again experience gives you the confidence to change gears if plan A isn't working. Good luck. 8-)

Favorite decade for music?
If stuck with the classic definition of decade, I have a very tough time choosing between the 60s and 70s. My favorite decade is 65-74. 8-)

Baitcaster v. Spinning
I could get by with either. I use both. For lighter stuff I use spinning, everything else baitcast. Use what you like-it's all good. 8-)

Looking for a Good Western
No flames from me. Not one of my favorites, but Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday makes the movie worth watching in my opinion. The fancy cup work at the poker table in response to Johnny Ringo's gun play is very cool.

Buying question
I like to watch the pros to see what they are catching fish on. I care less usually about the specific bait than the class of bait, how they are working it, time of year, water conditions, weather, etc. As bassking said, it is more the technique that I am interested in. There are guys on this Forum that have influence on my buying. When some of you guys recommend something I figure it is worth looking at; some others not so much. :-X ;D

Shimano Stella
Steezy it must not tick you off much paying those prices for Steez gear. You must feel there is value there or you would buy something else. If Shimano can sell Stella reels for $700 with whatever warranty they have, then that is what they will do. Ultimately the consumer sets the price. On the other side of the coin is the warranty GLoomis used to have on their rods. When it began to cut into profits, they changed the deal. I am guessing the people who like their rods are still buying them. My point is we all make value judgements when it comes to tackle. I would not pay that kind of money for a reel even with a lifetime warranty. I'd probably kick it off my boat the first trip out. :

Favorite Movie Characters
Ask me tomorrow and it may be a different list. Luke Jackson, Cool Hand Luke, Paul Newman Augustus McCrae, Lonesome Dove, Robert Duvall Trip, Glory, Denzel Washington Colonel Nathan Jessup, A Few Good Men, Jack Nicholson Doc Holliday, Tombstone, Val Kilmer-I didn't think of it till I saw it on Fourbizz's list. Great character.

Are you the type......
I hate to be part of the crowd, but I've got to go with 1b also. The stuff I have works great. The new stuff is cool; the newer rods are fantastic, the newer reels are much lighter and I may add some of them over time, but I could live happily with what I have.

new gun
I think a shotgun gives an untrained/practiced person a little better chance, and I did not mean to come across as dogmatic as I did. I apologize for my lack of tact. I just hear all the time that a shotgun is the only way to go, or just point it into the room and you can clear the entire room. My FIL told me this, and he fought in Korea and grew up around guns. : I have my Mossberg in the closet ready to go, but the first thing I will grab if someone is in my house will be a .357 revolver loaded with .38+P hollow points. It is what I've practiced with most, and the most confident with at very close range. If someone is messing around on my property the shotgun will be my first choice. Whatever you choose practice is the key. 8-)

new gun
A shotgun does give a little more margin of error, but this idea that you can just point in the general direction with a shot gun is dangerous. Most home invasion, self defense shooting happens up close. Load your shotgun with 00 buck shot and see what the patten is at 6-10'. I have an 18.5" open cylinder bbl on my Mossberg, and even at close range in a panic situation hitting a target is not sure thing.

Looking for a Good Western
Many good ones. My quick picks: Lonesome Dove The Outlaw Josey Wales Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Unforgiven Blazing Saddles (watch after Unforgiven-it is not real happy movie) FWIW Lonesome Dove is my favorite western of all time.

Creek Channel Experience
A creek channel is a natural highway that bass use to move around a lake at all times of the year. Where and how they are related to the channel depends on many things, but it is almost always a good place to start. Finding bends, points, structure, and any other place where there are transitions from shallow to deep, mud to gravel, and many others will help to put fish in the boat. Learning seasonal patterns to understand how fish use creek channels will definitely make you a better fisherman. Go to the Articles section and you will find much information on this. Good luck.

Halftime show...
For most of the country fishing was not an option. We don't have the weather you do. With all due respect, I think spending as much time in the gym as you are to get a body I wouldn't want is time that could better be spent doing something else. I enjoy watching the Super Bowl. My wife doesn't watch any other game, but she watches the SB with me every year. This thread is about the quality of the halftime show, not another, "Does watching a game, rather than playing in it make any sense?" Give it a break.

Which is Worse...
Having been a Rams fan since they moved to St. Louis, I've seen them win the SB, loose the SB, and very nearly go 0 for the season. Getting there and loosing is hard to take, but being a bad team is worse IMO. Having said that I still get a little sick when I think about the baseball Cardinals losing to Kansas City in the World Series, and that has been 25 years. :'(

Halftime show...
I don't know if it was the worst ever; that is some serious competition. The Who may still hold the title, but this was painful to watch. Sweet Child of Mine was an abomination. Aguilera has a great set of pipes but she murdered the Anthem. Great football game though. 8-)
