Battery For Fish Finder
Alright so this is what I've got. I've got a 32lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor. It's relatively old, but still works. I've got a hummingbird Fish finder, relatively low grade. 12V My trolling motor has clamps on it that clamp directly to the battery. The battery I had for my fish finder was very old and recently died. I'm curious on what to do, how do you make a fuse to make sure the power doesn't surge? And how would you rig it all up? Is there a website with this information. I'm looking into it now. If anyone has any pointers I would appreciate the help.

Collegiate Bass Fishing
Surprisingly they don't I've looked online on the clubs list, I'll have to investigate it more. If not I'm going to look into starting one. That is exciting, when you see Brian tell him Dirk says whaddup.

Collegiate Bass Fishing
I heard it's rough, a lot of finesse tactics. I heard the president has a nice boat, brand new Nitro? Something of that sort. Good luck this fall. I'm looking to get a team started here at ODU.

Battery For Fish Finder
I was wondering if I could use a small battery like a tractor or mower battery to power my fish finder, and or a little livewell pump? Or what would be a good little battery to power one or the other. I have a marine battery that powers my trolling motor but I feel like another would be too much for my fish finder. Any pointers on what to buy for relatively cheap?

Collegiate Bass Fishing
I know a guy that goes to Radford and is on the team I believe, his name is Brian Conners. His brother just graduated and was on the team while he was in college. If you ever do hook up with Brian, he is a heck of a fisherman. Knows a lot. His Pops and him won the local classic two years back to back.

Braid + Fluoro Leader With Crankbaits
I fish with 30lb braid and a 12lb flouro leader on my rods, and I've had no trouble with fishing cranks, top water, or plastics. And I set the hook real strong like. So I think you should be good.

Miniscule Results On A Legendary Day
Today my roommate and I went out on a local lake. It's very high pressured, so catching a fish makes for a good day. The thing is, my roommate has been on a 7 year drought of fishing. Has gone out multiple times even with guides over the past 7 years and hasn't caught anything. So I took him out today, determined to get him to catch a fish. We got out kinda late, a little after five and the boat ramp closes at 7. So we didn't have long to fish. First hour, I hooked into a decent fish, it snapped my fluoro leader, I blame my knot. Then nothing. Until the last 20 minutes my roommate hooked into a dink using a purple weightless trick worm. He was so stoked to catch a fish. It was awesome. We then went back to the spot where I hooked into my fish. 5th cast back near that area and I got a bite, lowered the rod tip, and set the hook. Pulled up a decent 1.5lb fish. I then noticed there was a line coming out of its mouth. I pulled the line and plop there came my bait, right out of his stomach, it wasn't hooked into him or anything. Black with blue fleck, Rage Craw. It was my first time using Rage Tail baits. I have never had that happen to me in my life. It was an awesome day, getting my roommate a fish, and getting my bait back. I took the bait and threw it back in my tackle box. We'll be out early tomorrow morning. Thought I would share.

Plastics In A Plano
Right on, thanks all.

Plastics In A Plano
My heavily scented baits like Powerbait or Lake Fork stuff, I'll keep in their bags but my Zoom stuff I keep in my Plano. Along with my jig trailers. This isn't bad is it? I just find it more handy to have them in the Plano then to have them in their bags. What do you guys think?

Favorite Fall Lures
I've heard a lot about using spinnerbaits in the fall. I've recently gotten a knack for them. So I'm looking forward to using them this fall.

Jig Trailers
I've never tried using different colors. I'll have to switch it up and see what happens. Great topic. Since I started using jigs I've always matched the trailer with the less predominant color in the jig. Like the blue in a black in blue jig. Or the Green Pumpkin in a brown jig.

Shutting Down A School
You see what happens is one fish tells 2 friends, then those tell two friends, then they tell two friends and so and so forth. Next thing you know. You can't buy a bite anywhere. Seen it a thousand times. And thanks to twitter and facebook the word gets out even faster than before. Today's age and technology. Just ruining the fishing. Ha

Things Are Getting Shaky
Yesterday I was fishing and was nailing fish all day. So much that I went fishing in the morning, the evening, then cat fishing at night. Crushed bass all day long even at night. Then today I went fishing this morning, I got one fish, that was it. I'm guessing pressure changes with the earthquake coming. W

Anyone know of some productive baits for them? I've heard top water like buzz baits.

How To Fish For Big Fish
Seasonal patterns. Studying the water. And time on the water. Like Packard said, locate fish then once you do bring out some bigger, slower baits, it'll keep the littluns away. It's just like everything, you gotta practice.

Attn: Folks W/ Experience Using Koppers Frog
I've done so well with my Spro frogs I haven't felt the need to try another brand. Plus where I buy my baits they have a plethora of shapes and sizes for Spro. Take 1" off the legs of the Spro and you're steady walking. I have 3 of them. Green and yellow, natural red, and the black and red popper. I've caught a lot of big fish on all of them. And with those colors I can usually get a topwater bite all day. Their hooks are phenom and have an excellent hook up ratio if you know when to set the hook. For a year I set the hook too soon and didn't set it correctly. I'm a heavy Spro supporter, not that you could tell.

Looking To Target Snakehead
I live I'm central Virginia, fredericksburg to be exact. I was wondering if anyone knew of some lakes or rivers near by where I could hook into some snake head. I would love to catch one of those toothy terds.

Zoom Quality Control
I don't see it as being the company's responsibility to make sure the product stays good no matter where you keep them. I agree with it having to do with being left out in the heat. I would say something to the store and I would take a look at the plastics before I buy them. I love zoom baits.

Lures To Throw After A Day Of Rain
Last week I fished a buzz bait in the pouring rain and did pretty well. I go for baits that are going to get the fish's attention. Spinners, ratt-l traps, buzz baits, are all my choice baits on rainy days.

Scent
Well I've caught a lot of fish with scent and without. Scent does help lubricate your bait if you need to slide through some weeds. I like to use scent when the water is murky. I feel it helps entice the fish. I wouldn't say it's waste. I like kicking bass. My buddy likes bang.

Lake Fork Hyper Worm
I fished it yesterday in line with the tail with a 3/8 not a single bite. But the spot I fished is tough so I don't discount them yet.
