Looking To Target Snakehead

Featured Replies

I live I'm central Virginia, fredericksburg to be exact. I was wondering if anyone knew of some lakes or rivers near by where I could hook into some snake head.

I would love to catch one of those toothy terds.

Potomac is your only option In VA. Good luck! :D

they fight pretty nice, they dont jump much but they do make your drag scream.

Aquia Beach, Stafford VA. If you do catch one, make sure to kill it. Bring a small baseball bat or something of the like to beat it on the head with, like the saltwater ones they sell at BPS.

PM for directions if you cant find any.

Anyone know of some productive baits for them? I've heard top water like buzz baits.

crankbaits, topwater frogs

Soft frogs on top over shallow warm grassbeds, like a Rage Toad. Bring plenty, because if you get into a good pod of snakeys, they destroy the baits quickly.

Aquia Creek.

Fish the shoreline and docks/piers.

No reason to go any where else on the Potomac if you can fish Aquia Creek.

Two places to launch so check your GMCO Potomac map. ;)

I appreciate the feedback thanks all

At Aquia Creek do you still have to go through the registration in

MD or what ever that new law is?

Register for what?

Isn't Aquia creek part of the Potomac? I just remember hearing about registering when fishing Potomac. I probably just don't understand it.

Oh, the FIP. It's easy, you can do it online and it's free.
