I can not remember the last time the fishing digest had something other than trout on it's cover! Bass fishing is the number one freshwater fishing industry in the country, but PA refuses to get on board. For all of you that does not know we cannot hold tournaments between April 16th and June 17th! So there goes any potential for any major fishing trails like flw (bfl) to have divisions up here. They also have drained several lakes in my area trying to kill all the weeds, cleaned the shores of all cattails fallen trees etc...I think they just want a huge mud hole that they stock 5inch trout in (the limit is 7inches) and sell powerbait! Also, they have some beautiful lakes that are trolling motor only. I understand that it keeps the rec. Boaters and jet skies off, but it also keeps me off the lakes. Maybe they could institute a speed limit instead! Just hate to see a horrible injustice going on In this state. Also the license fee is 22.70 and 9.70 for lake erie permit and another 9.70 for trout permit! That is for resident you can't even imagine what non-resident is!!! >

Sitting here watching fishing shows is making me physical sick! I need to get out and do some fishing before I bust!!

Went to the local sporting goods store with the wife today. She never goes in with me but today she did, as I was standing staring at the 60.00 frabill net I have been wanting, my wife grabs the net and says let's go! I walked out with a big smile and a new net. I need to talk her into going more often. ;D

I love skipping them under docks, the GY senkos break up much easier than other brands. So I tried kinimai and yum through a stretch of docks with one small bass, then went thru the same stretch with GY and caught three bass with one going close to 4 pounds! The reason is the weight I think because the GY is heavier, one I can skip farther, and also sink rate. Nothing but GY for me!

I do fish the mon, but south near Brownsville and the west Virginia state line. The fishing is ok catch some nice largemouths but it is very tough!

I see you are from Pittsburgh I am south of you near uniontown the yough lake has some fantastic smallmouth and big ones! End of march thru may is awesome with 4 pounders possible every trip!

Just wondering do you guys use rattles on your jigs or not? I prefer no rattle, have had better luck without them!

vapredhunter, any tips or advice on fishing smith mt. I love fishing that lake and always try to go to the bfl tourney down there in the Shenandoah div. It is usually my first fishing trip of the year! This year it is march 26, which is a little earlier than previous years. Over the past 6 years I have found some good areas and some decent patterns. Also have been trying to stay away from the docks and put together a deeper water pattern. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Phil

A few years back I had the privilege to talk to David Fritts about the bills breaking off on the dt series. He began to explain to me how they build the lips very thin so the lure can achieve the proper depth and have the correct action. He said to me to be gentle with them and they will perform for you. So I began taking extra care while fishing them, I try and not hit the shore or do not slam the lure on the water to clear the grass off of it. I have not broken on since. Also I have never broken one under water while fishing it off of stumps or rock!

Wow! I did not realize it was that easy! I do have a clown color in a lc. and xrap always heard it was a good color for smallies but never had much luck. Thanks to all for the help, probably go down there and it will be a drop shot bite,lol!
