Melvern, Ks Fishing Report
Just wondering if most of the fish are generally smaller (3lbs or less) with the seemingly common average of 12inchers. I thought maybe the bigger fish were deeper and maybe some of you tried drop shotting for them. Don't get me wrong nothing beats a topwater bite but if a guy is looking for bigger fish....

Irod Opinions
Own one and it is a heavy punch rod. Just because it's a good rod doesn't necessarily mean they all are. No stores carry them so I figured I would ask how others like them hoping to get some insight on the rest of the lineup and see if it would be worth it to buy a couple more. Not sure why it's confusing. Which ones do you own and how are they holding up? Have you had to deal with their warranty yet? Like I said, I don't have access to just go to the local tackle shop to check one out.

Irod Opinions
Looking for the good and the bad. I own the Bub's Punch rod in the G2 and love it. I plan on picking up a couple with the Independence Day discount if there is one at TW. I would like to hear your opinions on them and also if you could compare them to other brands that would be great. Thanks. I'm not looking for what rod to buy for a certain technique but what you thought of the rods; quality, sensitivity, versatility, overall feel, and likely hood to buy again? Those type of things.

2 Blade Or 3 Blade Prop On Motor Guide
Beeper for sure and sounds like a tank when turning right or left. Batteries are getting replaced this year but I was talking to some guys at the local tackle shop and they all seemed to think 2 blade props perform better.

2 Blade Or 3 Blade Prop On Motor Guide
What is the best prop for speed, efficiency, and thrust? I have the factory prop and the Machete prop for a Motor Guide bowmount trolling motor. I have never used the factory as the salesman said the Machete on a wireless 75 would be money on the water. I just feel that it isn't good for speed and it almost struggles in rough water. Any ideas on which props are best for what? It's on a 17' Lowe deep V.

Help With Evinrude 40Hp 2 Stroke Problems
Over the last year our older Evinrude 40hp 2 stroke has developed a most annoying issue. It works fine when hooked up to a hose or in a large trash can filled with hose water, but when we get in in a lake it idles terrible and cuts out when under 5mph and in idle. Seems like it struggles to get fuel but like I said it works fine at home at all speeds and in idle. Have any of you experienced anything like this? We have taken it in to a guy almost a half dozen times and he says the motor is in great shape and works fine which is comforting until we get to lake and it's deja vu all over again

Battery Questions
Do you guys use all the same brand/type batteries for you trolling motor setup? When 1 battery dies, do you replace all or just the one? What brand of batteries do you recommend and what batteries do you recommend staying away from? Are gel batteries worth it or can I just use the AGM's from Bass Pro or Cabela's? New Rod & Reel for my Birthday
H B Man nothing wrong with bps stuff if it feels right it is right.

Mono for jerkbaits?
Mono or Copolymar are my recommendations for jerkbait fishing. I would stay away from fluorocarbon. It tends to make the nose point downward and cause the jerkbait to sink at a faster rate. Suffix Elite 10lb, Berkley Sensation 12lb, or Gamma Copolymar 10lb. Hope this helps.

Need help deciding which reels to get
sol or alphas for sure. with the alphas you would have a super light combo.

Quantum Smoke Brakes
I am pretty sure that the smoke comes with micro acs nine position break system standard in all smokes whether it be 100 or 150.
-
Alphas It'o oops...updated
it looks like you may have to buy a new frame. the acidity of your cleaner may have tarnished that beyond repair. that suck dude.

Reels under $60
I wouldn't waste my money on a reel under $100.

super tuning?
Supertuning is no fad. Although, it is not for everyone. The average angler that is used to stock reels whether high end or low end has never casted a supertuned reel and doesn't understand why someone would change that. I know a lot of people that think that cleaning a new reel and relubing it is dumb and that I am wasting my time. I am new to the supertuning game and just did 4 Revo S's for my friend and he has gained 10-15 yards on the cast. Most of that came because his idea of cleaning was sticking it under running water and then adding hot sauce. My recommendation is that you don't knock it until you try it and if you want to try it start with simple clean and relube. If you notice the performance increase just think what better bearings and a polish will do for you. If you don't notice it then at least your reel got a nice bath and some fresh oil and grease.

Grease or oil the drive shaft bearing?
Should I grease the drive shaft bearing for a more connected feel or oil it for a faster feel on a reel that will be used for mostly flipping and pitching?

Quantum sucks!!! Wait does it? KVD uses their stuff
By the way the subject title was to get some honest reaction. Not really to imply that they suck but that they seem to not be go to reels and rods for a lot of anglers I come into contact with in the retail world. Thanks again.

Quantum sucks!!! Wait does it? KVD uses their stuff
I just want to say thanks for all the replies this is exactly what I was looking for. By the way I have used Daiwa products for about 3 years, Shimano for about 2, Abu for 1, before that I was using BPS (Pflueger) for about 5. I have been selling the stuff for only 5 years now and am only 27. I was a latecomer when it comes to being serious about my equipment. I wanted real on the water experiences with your Quantum products and that is what I got. Thanks.
-
How often do you change out your line?
once at the beginning of the year. again around july. and i too have braid on for more than a year. this is coming from a non tournament angler.

Quantum sucks!!! Wait does it? KVD uses their stuff
I want to know what you guys think. I have worked at two major fishing retailers and am still at one. Quantum products seam to be of a different quality than Shimano, Daiwa, and Abu Garcia IMO. I have had a few personal dealings with their reps and they don't persuade customers into buying their product they usually brand bash customers into their product (side note-all reps do it a little bit but Quantum reps or at least the 6 I have worked with go way over the top). The KVD rods, Superlights, and I heard the Smoke are good and most of the PT line reels (newest frame styles) feel ok. Some of their old stuff just seemed to be junkie. Energy rods just left something to be desired. I have seen the blue Tours new in box feel just awful. The spinning reels with cracked drags after a few uses. Reels that I felt almost embarrassed to sell one to a customer. Maybe it is just me but I Quantum is always my last resort because I have little faith in their product. I would love to hear your opinions on Quantum. Hopefully one of you can change my mind because even the great KVD can't.
