  4. All the hawgs that got away ;D...But they have made for some great fishing stories
  5. You know bwell theres nothing like throwing that line out, sitting that rod down and see that bend in the rod knowing you have hooked something big on the other end.
  6. My second love to bass fishing is going after the hawgs with whiskers. Last summer me and some buddies from work were fishing a farm pond that right around 4 acres. We had fished this pond all summer long and had great luck with the bass in there, so we decided to try our hand at some of the cats. I went with a big surf rod and carolina rigged it with a chicken liver, and after about 5 minutes in the water we landed a 15lb channel cat, and to top it off it was the middle of the day, 90 degrees outside in the blazing sun in August...moral of the story for the catfish lovers out there, dont under estimate small ponds that are stocked with catfish you might be suprised...
  7. Deep im also curious about the shore fishing at Briery creek since I do not have a boat. Folks I talk to say yes you need a boat, but that lake is so big there has to be some good areas to fish somewhere along the banks.
  8. Thanks for the welcome everyone...Looks Va is well represented on here lol

  12. Hey everyone, I hope im posting this in the right place, I did a search and could not find anything on this subject. Has anyone here fished lake Ruritan in Fluvanna here in central va? Thats the first place I want to hit up once the weather gets warm and stays warm. I have only fished this lake twice first time was about 20 years ago and last fall. The fisrt time I fished there I hooked into a huge muskie but lost him trying to bring him in, then last year no luck at all. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck there? Im going to be fishing from the bank mainly until I get a jon boat.
  13. Another thing you can do is take someone who has years of expeirence fishing with you. You can learn a LOT by just watching folks who have been doing this for a long time. I always said fishing for me is a lot more fun when you have a buddy with you.
  14. I guess I should add that Im 33 and have been fishing my entire life, kinda got away from it for several years because of my job, but after last summer Im back into more than I have ever been. Im looking to get either a jon boat of possibly try my hand at a kayak so I can hit some of the bigger lakes in the area.
  15. Hey everyone just wanted to introduce myself, and say How excited I am to be here sharing my fishing adventures with everyone here. Its nice to see im not alone in this world with my fishing addictions lol.
