  1. Michigan I'm just showing off for now since I have just started airbrushing but do have an artistic background. My brother in law wants his done if this turns out to be a hit I might start doing some for money but as of right now just having fun. Dcorp I did strip as much of the paint off as possible. I then went in with some black from rattle can for base then used auto air for colors with some opaques and candy paints. Then i cleared coated 3 times. Diablos I wouldn't doubt I added some weight but probably not too much since I had sanded most if the old paint off. I won't be able to determine the sensitivity till this weekend when I use it but I'm not doubting you in any way.
  2. just got done with my paint job on my revo sx i did some flames on it and it looks pretty sick in person hard to get the light right to see the colors but heres a good look
  3. i don't know if they are still on sale but the pt quantum's were at bps for around 129 and that is a sweet reel have one and I've also owned a pro qualifier but took it back and got the pt and was more impressed but there is a difference in price.
  4. any info? any guess on what this may be?
  5. try a topwater over the weeds like said above. smaller water i would probably go with a smaller spook especially if its more of a clear water situation. also if you can get a buzz bait with a clacker blade when you throw it over the weeds adds more sound for the fish to locate witch will never hurt either. all your plastics are good baits to throw and good colors as well. a good rule of thumb witch you may already know the darker the water go with a darker color, cleaner water go with a realistic color or a brighter color. also try a small jig with a small trailer on the tougher days when fish are more finicky. this is basically what i have picked up over the last couple years, and i would agree with the above no cranks would be pretty difficult if your snagged way out to get your bait back but if you do get a shallow crank i would go with a baby one minus or something of that nature. hope this helps
  6. I have had success on the private lake i fish on with a xcalibur lipless xr50 or 75 in either black and gold or gold silver. In the past 2 years I've caught good smallies in early spring really slow rolling these. They have action as they drop and produce a lot of vibration when you retrieve and really thump when you slow roll.
  7. Is this a jackal buzz bait, and if so does anyone know the retail of these?
  8. finally got the finished picture on here with the hooks and eyes plus a few others me and my dad have made. plus one from my grandpa
  9. Hi there this is a spro little john i had made for a display purpose. It is about a foot in length and the paint scheme is just something i did based on what colors of spray paint i had no relation to the manufacture that i know of. Me and my father have been making display sized lures of replicas just for fun and they look neat in a man cave. We have made this one, a bagley fat cat, paw paw, and a few other older topwater lures. We call these B F L's standing for big (fill in this one) lure. This one in particular has red reflector for the eyes since these were recessed and missing the hooks but I'm sure you could imagine it done. I may end up doing some replicas for next winter by order they are fun to do and think i could make some money during layoff season as well. thanks for looking, jim
  10. i wish i could have paint jobs looks like that on some display replica lures i make with my dad. the paint schemes are awesome really nice work true talent.
  11. i agree with most on here about where and when to fish colder waters, really hot waters, when fish tend to be more sluggish. i fish a 1/8 ounce and 1/4 ounce bitsy bug on the lake that i fish on but its relatively small 350 acres with a lot of boat traffic on tournament days (sunday). i really learned how to fish these primarily because i fished out of the back of my buddys boat where his motto is "if there is money on the line there is a jig on mine" when you fish tight to areas it gets tough to fish anything else so i was forced now i can skip an 1/8 ounce jig under docks with a bait caster, <---- with relatively good gear as well though. It actually just becomes routine and the bites are always fun! if you try it, it will be frustrating at first, but definitely gets easier and then you can add that to your arsenal of presentations. good luck to you, jim
  12. This might sound like the best angel at what im looking at. when i had the ear muffs on it, it had ran fine but when i put it in the water ran like crap. thanks i will check this out and thanks to all other suggestions if this doesnt work will be taking others into deep consideration.
  13. I've changed the filter and plugs and gas is about couple weeks old but I put stabilizer in it the plugs look all the same
  14. Hi there i posted earlier this year about my motor and fixed that now i have a new problem. my first thought on what im going to say is carbs but i would just like other advice or options. My motor will start but runs pretty sluggish. while i start the idle is beutiful in reverse has hardly any power seems to bog down bad and doesnt produce power, in drive if i hammer down it falls out bad and almost dies in neutral she will rev up to about 4000 rpms then starts to bog as well. also while in drive i hear small clunks nothing loud but i dont know if this is just because its out of wack or what the last time i had it out it ran like crap then all of a sudden ran strong and fine for about 20 seconds then started acting up again and hasnt run fine again. any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks jim
  15. im not a whiz on boats considering ive been through my own project boat this year as well. first off the bilge pump should only take water from the inside of the boat to the outside with a hole located somewhere at the top of boat most likely in back. the hole besides the drain plug is most likely for your aerator pump for your livewells or where your livewells should drain out of, in your case it seems like its the aerator pump. i use to take water in too on my boat. i had a gap that had to be filled under the bump rail on the side of the boat some time during take off or throttling down i would take water in there but i just siliconed that and has fixed my problem. well hopefully some of this may have helped im sure someone can elaborate better than i can take care and good luck.
  16. Yes i have tried seafoam and no real noticable results with that. i actually replaced the fuel filter yesterday took the boat out today seemed to be better but not what i really should be. the touchiness in the throttle seemed to have been better since replacing the filter but still has some of the problem i had explained earlier. For the last suggestion i was also wondering myself about the idle control but like you said i would have to take it somewhere for them to tell me if its bad or not. well thanks much guys i will be taking it in here shortly to have the bugs worked out of it im just tired of messing with it myself.
  17. Well title pretty much explains the problem i will give a little more depth. I sometimes have a hard time starting the motor but when i get it to run it runs pretty well except for just above idle speed. If i hammer down it does not sputter and runs like a raped ape. its just when im in a no wake zone on my lake i have problems keeping the motor running in the no wake area because im not able to go fast enough. what i have replaced, spark plugs, fuel line and prime bulb, oil injection lines. Im wondering if the timing maybe slightly off or if the carbs have to be rebuilt im hoping its just the timing can anyone give me any input on what they think or if they know what the problem is thank you. jim
  18. well ended up having some boat trouble but figured out the problem and didnt finish in the money but we did catch one nice one that weighed 2.7 wich is a pretty decent fish for our lake. and nil basser i think you know where i got that idea lol (jim crowley) maybe?
  19. Finaly after purchasing a boat a month and half ago Im able to take it out for my first tournament today. Ive bought a few lures off the flea market forum that Im getting excited to use but mostly just being able to fish out of the front of my own boat for a change is going to be nice. After hard efforts wich entails, new trim motor, new starter solenoid, a wiring issue wich i paid the local marina to figure out, new gas lines, installing the trolling motor, installing and building a front flipping deck, putting in new seats, rewiring the trailer lights, its just been a total mess but today its all my hard work (with the help of a couple friends) should pay off. I live in illinois and the temp has been pretty warm and the weather has been pretty stable, therefore im hoping for a little overcast and a slight breeze. I know im asking for a lot but i just want to catch fish. Im taking my dad out for the buddy tournament wich is going to be nice me and him havent fished together since i was young well except ice fishing but thats different. Im going to start off with the black cavitron buzzbait to try to get that topwater bite going early in the morning. Following up with that there is alot of fry and shad stacked up in the coves so im going to move into there with a white spinnerbait and if that doesnt work i have a flippen bitsy bug with a double rattle and super chunk jr waiting to pull the trigger on some fish. always have the lipless xcalibur on the line to cover some deeper water and always a texas rig beaver. Im also going to try a shakey head worm across some flats by the islands hopefully trying to get a big smally but well see hopefully this strategy works wish me luck. jim
  20. Yeah the bite is doing pretty well here. well when the water isnt 3 feet high and like chocalate milk lol. good news though i did get a boat! it is a small project but its not going to put me in the hole. had to replace the trim motor wich was a living nightmare but cost was only my own labor and a 150 bucks for the new motor. other misc parts and pieces i should only be in it about 1400 with transfer and taxes and everything. its a 1986 ebtide dynatrak with a 150 merc xr2. anyways about fishing i had a tournament couple weeks ago and should of had a limit but a few rookie mistakes costed me a good bag. oh well got to learn from it and keep fishing. i too also lost a 3 lber at the boat. no net so when i bent down to lip it the fish did the infamous head shake and the rest is history. weighed in 3 but one ended up being short so had to throw him back in the lake so weighed in two for about 3lbs or so. no check either here but missed a good oppurtunity for an easy win but thats why they are called mistakes so i just need to learn from them and keep my line in the water. take it easy.
  21. Im in the middle of my bass boat project and to start im going to use a cooler with the aerator set up in that but would like to get a real livewell put into my boat and just thought i would start with bass resource before i went to ebay. if anyone has anything they think i could use please let me know and ill get back to you as soon as i can thanks, jim.
