  1. well come to find out its an 86 ebtide dynatrak with a 87 merc 150 xr2 sorry if this makes things different. finally lost my patience working on it in the high 90 degree temp and took it to the local marina. thanks for all that have given me suggestions.
  2. alright thanks for the input im glad to hear it will be a cheap fix i know i can take it off myself i actually have motor rebuild shop about 20 miles from my house so this makes me happy.
  3. I bought my buddys boat for cheap and it has a 87 mercury 150 xr2. I know to replace brand new is around 1200 looking for the cheaper alternative obviously. if anyone has any knowledge how much the rebuild will cost please let me know.
  4. thanks ill check the wires and also that inline fuse thanks for tips
  5. Hi i recentley bought a 88 ebtide with a 88 merc xr2. I know the boat runs i was in it last year and can get it to turn over using jumper cables and a battery. when i run the volt meter i have power at the starter solenoid so conection from battery to motor are good. on the other hand when i turn key i get absolutely nothing. i replaced the ignition switch today and still nothing if anyone can give me any helpful advice i would appreciate it thanks.
  6. thats good that youve found a consisntent bite. i havent figured this lake out by boat yet since i dont have one but as soon as i get one im hoping on figuring out a consistent pattern. right now the fish are on their beds so the bite has been tough according to a few good anglers out here. well tight lines to you and good luck.
  7. thats awesome! our fishing club is hosting their kids fishing tournament next weekend and im volunteering its always a good turn out. i remeber fishing it when i was young and got 3rd for big bass. keep kids fishing!
  8. Well seems like you were doing alright in the tourneys with the conditions given. The lake i live on we live on weve been struggling to get full bags too. There is always one or two guys that find them and few weighed in, and then a ton of blanks lately but its pretty hard to fish the way you want when your getting those winds and weve had them every single tournament this year. that fish your talking about im wondering if it is a war mouth? congrats on the 6th place finish sounds like there was some good competition. my buddy partner just moved out of our subdivision so my buddy tournaments have been cut out of the year unless i buy a boat soon but well see about that. well good luck to you
  9. hey nice fish sloanzp! ive been fishing in local tournaments on this private lake subdivision i live in. ive caught a few fish so far this year enough to put me in 4th place twice and caught PB last friday. im a nonboater so its hard for me to get out and experience different lakes but i have success in the one i fish.
  10. looks like a solid boat there is one for sale out by me with a 200 evinrude im hoping is still there because once i go back to work blacktopping this year i need to buy a boat. boat looks great hope it works well for you!
  11. thanks everyone getting a replica made she went back into the water still gets my heart pumpin thinking about landing that one lol.
  12. Yesterday I went fishing with a guy in the fishing club on our lake and needless to say he has way more talent than me when it comes to fishing. He had caught 5 keepers and 2 dinks before i landed my pig. I started fishing for bass and fishing the local bass tournament last year and my biggest weighed in till yesterday was a 3lb 8ounce smally wich is a pretty good smally for my lake considering its recreational and only 350 acres. I have pretty much grown up on this lake since 92 except for a 3 year absence to it. Yesterday i finally got to feel what is my biggest to date and that is a 5lb 13ounce largemouth 20.5" lengthe 15 1/8 girth. Let me tell you I was pretty stoked for the remainder of the time we spent on the lake that day. Well hopefully i can land one of those bigguns in the tournament coming up in another week just thought i would share one of my proud bass fishing moments with anyone that would like to read this and all that are on BR. P.S. Ive been catching all my fish primarily on the xr50 xr75 xcalibur lipless cranks!
  13. thanks i tried do as much homework as possible had some strategies and some patterns i would have love to tried but the wind was too furocious! thanks
  14. Had my first tournament, buddy tournament, of the year on sunday and caught 3 fish. The main approach i used was slow rolling a lipless crankbait. Water temp was 55 in the main lake and 58-60 in the coves and creek channel. I would have loved to jig but considering we had 25-30 mph south wind gusts all day it was pretty hard to keep the boat straight. There was only one team that had caught a limit that weighed in at 7.75 lbs. There also was another team that did weigh in 4 but had a few 3#ers. Me and my partner focused mainly on the points and shoreline that were getting blasted with the wind. We did try the coves and the creek channel but remember on a 350 acre lake and 12 boats fishing the prime spots are picked through pretty good. I did try jigging but it was almost annoying trying to focus on the line and the boat at the same time. If anyone has suggestions i have open ears, thanks jim.
  15. dang just saw this and it looks like it would be fun hope its going well
  16. Just recently married in feburary and my wife thinks its just rediculous the amount of tackle and poles and reels i have bought in the last year. She also realizes that im serious about fishing and dont do much with myself besides work so its my hobby it just so happens i spend alot of money on it. If i cant go fishing im buying cranks or whatever!
  17. Alot of you guys are talking about the age of men and women of the newer generation. I happen to fall in that generation and have had to work for everything I have. I started working when I just turned 15 and had my mother drive me home from my job when I was done. I'm now 26 and have made my mistakes and have learned from them all. I pave blacktop roads 7 months a year and fish in my free time. If I could get a sponsorship great, but i never look for handouts i think it makes some one look weak if they are given everything it takes to succeed, otherwise how else would they know what it takes. They never earned it, they never sweated for it. I've fished panfish and catfish when i was young and enjoyed it and occasionaly bass fished. Since i joined the local fishing club last winter I have fished in almost every tournament they hosted that I could. I've spent way more than enough money on equipment in the last year it makes me nautious, but because of that I have respect for the sport, sponsors and the people that want to earn and have earned what they want. Sorry I rambled on and on but im part of the newer generation and thought i would try to support some of the guys that could deserve a sponsorship or work for discounts like a previous member said he does. I always listen to the elder and young you can always learn something from everyone weather smart, dumb, etc. Sorry if I have offended anyone just voicing my opinion.
  18. I use a 7'0 M fast action mojo bass and a revo premier or stx with the brake system set to a click or two just to keep the back lash from happening (as much). Thats what i use for skipping when i pitch a jig, but as far as the skip on the video im not that good yet. I pull the bait back to about the reel and its just practice from there. I actually learned from a guy that primarily fishes jigs so learned pretty quickly fishing out of the back of his boat.
  19. I bought this crankbait from walmart around 5-7 years ago i believe it was made by renegade? does anyone have any they would like to trade or any information where i could get some.
  20. I just got cavitrons on a ebay bid at the end of last years fishing season i changed the skirts one to a bluegill and caught a few but this was when the buzz bait bite was dead on our lake late in the season. I also made a sexy shad chartruese color as well looks sweet but havent tried it yet. Ive had my best buzzbait fish last year on a bleeding chartreuse and white clacker 3.8lb smally.
  21. Booger Shugar or Bass Fulgurite
  22. I personally have bought alot of t1 spinnerbaits. They seem to work relatively well on the lake i fish on. i also make my own skirts wich helps if you cant find the colors your looking for go to the ***.com and you can make some skirts or buy them at a decent price.
  23. These jigs are looking really nice. 1. Carrot Cake 2. Silted Craw
  24. thanks for the advice tournament is coming up in like a month. As far as more details im fishing on a lake called lake holiday. its a private lake water im sure would be fairly clear depending on if we get rain. temp would be pretty cold considering most of the lake still has ice on it. lake also has alot of docks, 5 coves, and a spillway where the face on both sides are pretty well covered with structure. i actually have a shakey head set up on one of my rods and a lipless xcalibur xrk75 on others as well as jigs on others. thanks for the feed back cant wait to get more.
  25. Hi there i just recently joined and i have a bass tournament coming up soon could anybody give me incite on some good early season colors and maybe what they have luck with. were ill be fishing is mostly shore structure and a fairly shallow lake around 16-18ft deep tops.
