Chicago and the rest of the Great Lakes region is expected to see temps in the upper 60's and 70's over the next week and a half. Any chance these unusually warm temps mess with the spawn season?

My brother-in-law and I were fishing frogs on the 4th of July. I caught 5 and lost 4, he caught 1 and lost 6 or 7. My advice to him was to set the hook straight up not to the side or at an angle. It works for me more often than not. Also helps to get the fish's head up out of the weeds. And like you I use 7" MH with 40 lb braid.

Hey Fellas - I'm looking to put together a crankin's rod/reel setup. I'm usually fishing Southwestern MI and Northeast IL. Any ideas on rod, reel? I've heard Flouro is better, I flip and pitch plastics with 40 lb braid on a MH Abu Garcia Vendetta. I've noticed early this year that it doesn't have much forgiveness with cranks.
