WOMEN'S BASS DIVISION TOURNAMENT TRAIL
I need a fishin' buddy. I've just moved to a new town with a huge lake, but I don't know anyone here to fish with. My roommate (who got me addicted to fishing)isn't quite addicted herself. I drive her crazy.

WOMEN'S BASS DIVISION TOURNAMENT TRAIL
I wish I were more experienced... I would LOVE to do something like that. All I'd do is pay to fish! I haven't even been fishing a year yet-- and just got away from a nightcrawler and bobber!

Anyone Else Have This Awful Habit?
Didn't think about a lanyard. I've always kept the clippers in my tacklebox and somehow manage to lose them every other trip. I spend as long looking for them as I do using them.

Women who love fishing :)
I'm looking for a fishing buddy in Kentucky... I got into it last year and drove all of my friends who enjoyed fishing crazy within weeks. They will throw a nightcrawler attached to a bobber and sit back and play guitar or something. Not exactly productive for what I want to do! Not only that, but I've moved about 45 minutes from all those people anyway, and am fishing a different lake. I don't know anyone here, and don't really know where to begin looking. Most everyone seems to be fishing from boats, so I don't run into anyone on the bank very often.. and when I do, I don't want to mess up their flow, so I'll ask them if they're having any luck and move along. Doesn't help that i'm a young female. I'm going crazy and really want to learn more about this lake, and fishing in general. I need a serious fishin' buddy, who doesn't mind teaching a newbie a thing or two!

Why am I gut hooking so many fish?
How do you get rid of the barbs? It seems like the strength of the hook would be affected by just mashing it down..?

Pinnacle Ultra Balance Baitcasting Combo
This was my first attempt with a baitcaster, and I could NOT manage to cast without backlashes. I realized I needed to adjust the line tension, went to do so, and the knob is missing. Can I just get another knob, or should I return the entire setup? Thanks, Mikala

Come to think of it.. he DID ask what color that worm was, and later asked to borrow one!

KY fishers?
I fished Cumberland a few times last week.. but I'm pretty new to fishing, and really new to Lake Cumberland. Still learnin the ropes! Caught 2 little largemouths from the bank on soft plastics, though. First time I'd ever caught anything using something other than a nightcrawler and a bobber. I was really excited. Would love to meet up with someone to learn the ways!

Any Good Bank Fishing In Crossville Tn Area?
Thats my hometown! I never fished when I lived there (just got into it last summer), but over in Holiday Hills, there was a guy that would fish right off the rock bank up next to the dam. Everytime I drove by he was always taking something off the hook. Don't know much about Fairfield Glade, though-- other than most of the lake front is residential. Glad you caught some fish! Maybe we can coordinate and figure it out together sometime :-) I'm sure I know people who can send me in the right direction.

Southern Hospitality...
Went fishing several times alone this week, and for some reason.. every time I caught a fish whatever random male angler was near me felt the need to rush to my side to take it off the hook. if I wasn't comfortable taking it off the hook, I wouldn't be there alone catching it.. lol! I appreciate the sentiment, fellas, but i'm capable of doing this on my own! I think it was insecurity since I was the only one catching fish I ran into one of those guys a little later, and he caught a large mouth.. and i completely reversed the roles and ran up and took it off the hook for him. his mouth dropped! haha!

Reel Trouble
I never would have thought of that! Thanks!

Reel Trouble
The Shakespeare was also a closed faced reel. The baitcaster I'm using is a Pinnacle Ultra Balance. My trouble is with the set-up.. someone gave it to me and told me how to cast it, but never mentioned setting it up! I googled it, and I'm actually missing the knob to set the tension on the rod. Looks like it just screwed on-- can I get a new knob? Hate to lose it too- only have 2 reels, both out of commission, and I'm addicted to fishing. I don't know when I'd be able to get another one. Like I said, that one was a freebie.. some lady got frustrated pulling out backlashes and gave it to me. Her hubby told me how to cast it, but she gave it to me with a ridiculous backlash, so he couldn't show me. He was using spinning gear. I really appreciate all the insight! I need all the help I can get!!

Reel Trouble
I'm relatively new to fishing, I just started last summer. I've only fished on zebco 33s or the Shakespeare pole at walley world. this year, I have a 33 on the shakespeare pole, and a baitcaster. The baitcaster, i'm completely new to. I've read tutorials on how to cast them.. but I don't know anyone who uses anything other than closed faced reels... so i'm having trouble casting without backlash. if i do manage to not get a backlash, it goes about 4 feet! What am I doing wrong? I've just been practicing with it, and using the 33 until i'm confident enough to not waste time on the water taking care of backlashes every other cast... but today my 33 did something funky. it felt like it got snagged in my reel, now the drag is messed up so its making the clicky noise all the time. regardless of where i set the dial, the drag does not change. i'm hoping for a simple fix.. and that my blonde is coming through more in my adult life than in previous years. help? i can't go buy another reel! i've only used the 33 for about 2 weeks

Senko: Is it Evil?
Today I caught a little large mouth on one of those ridiculous looking bubblegum colored senkos. 5", weightless T-rigged. I tied it on to make some kids laugh down the lake "look mom!! her worm is PINK!!!!", knocked over my tackle box, so i let it sink directly next to me (sitting on a rock.. about 6 feet of water) while i cleaned up. as soon as it hit the water this fish engulfed it. they stopped laughing and begged their dads for pink worms. haha!

New from Southern Ky
Welcome! I just moved to Cumberland.. no boat. Have any ideas on good places for bank fishing?

Senko: Is it Evil?
I caught my first bass of the year on a senko. It was also the first fish I've ever caught using anything but a nightcrawler and bobber.. lol! It was a 5" GYCB Senko in Natural Shad, T-Rigged weightless. I threw a 5" Yum Dinger at the fish for an hour before switching to the senko. BAM. So maybe the Senko may hinder some anglers in it being too easy, but it has given me so much more confidence. I'm never stopping at the gas station for a tub of nightcrawlers on my way to the lake again. ....well, maybe not "never"...

New In Somerset, Ky
Hey everyone! I've been lurking around on the site for a month or two now, and thought I would introduce myself! Last summer during "free fishing" weekend, I got completely hooked on fishing. I didn't catch a thing, but I got what I thought were bites.. turns out it was just weeds! It didn't matter, it was enough to get me hooked. I fished the rest of last summer, and just moved to a new town with a HUGE lake. Problem is, I'm having trouble finding decent bank access sites. I overwhelmed myself last summer trying to learn how to fish everything at once-- this summer, I'm zoning in on just soft plastics. I caught my first bass of the year on a soft plastic yesterday! I'm still excited about it. It wasn't big, but it was big to me-- because I was thoroughly convinced I couldn't fish soft plastics, and it was the biggest fish I've caught yet. Here's to starting to learn the ropes this summer! I'll probably ask a thousand questions. You all have already been an awesome resource for me, even though I haven't said a thang! If anyone feels the need to teach a yuppie some new tricks in KY, message me!
