Why am I gut hooking so many fish?
Great advise all, been having the same issue lately, thought is was too much slack, now it seems to be a fairly unanimous conclusion. Just needed another opinion. You guys rock!

Fishing after the first significant rain of the Season
Thanks for the advise. I tried brighter colored worms as well as a couple different top water lures. This morning wasn't very productive at all. In 3 hours I only caught on little guy under 2lbs. I went back out late in the afternoon and caught about a half-dozen or so, all little though. Going back out in the morning.

New House on a Canal, Good Fishing :-)
My family and I recently moved into a house on a fresh water canal that runs about a mile, with a small pond / lake about half way. We have been catching lots of little ones under 2lbs, with bigger ones 4-6lbs pretty consistently (with a couple larger gals). The bait of choice has been watermelon red worms, 8" tricks on a Texas rig. I've been putting the neighborhood kids and my buddies (and momma) on a few nice ones. Here are a few of the fish we have landed recently, enjoy. This was the first fish Anias ever caught Here's a few I've caught so far this year Big Clint scared'm into the boat Cody landed this and a handful of others to out fish me on my own canal ;-) Daryl caught this little fella right before dinner Momma has been out fishing the boys :-) Momma went from the pool to the boat to land this little guy Sunday :-) Jason landed this one after helping me with the dog kennel

Fishing after the first significant rain of the Season
Afternoon all. I've been fishing a fresh water canal the past couple of months (Central Florida), and doing pretty good for all extensive measures using 8" finesse watermelon red worms hooked via Texas rig. The water temps are rising and the bass are appearing to be increasingly active. Today was the first significant rain of the season, and it has basically poured off and on all day. My intent is to go out at dawn to get in a little fishing before work. My thought is to try some top water baits near the shoreline, under the trees. Any thoughts as to what may work good given these conditions? Central Florida Warming water Shallow Canal (6-8' in the center) Lot's of shaded areas Thanks all. Semper Fi, Cecil out...

Newbie from Land O'Lakes, FL
Hello all, ran across the site doing a little research on Large Mouth Bass habits. Been fresh water fishing since I was in grade school. Recently moved to a house on a fresh water canal... been fishing 4-5 times a week. Now, I get a lot of joy out of putting other folks on fish, especially kids. God Bless & Semper Fi
