  1. You brought a smile to my face... Gulp is cold cured in a freezer when molded. oe
  2. Ryan... I use a T-rig presentation when cover won't allow an exposed hook point presentation. Exposed hook point presentations have a better hook up rate for me. A jig head will present an exposed point in an upward facing position and help reduce snagging cover. oe
  3. So... what's your problem? oe
  4. I let my BassMaster subscription lapse several years ago... is there anyone able and willing to post the article here or PDF it direct to me? oe
  5. Read "pro-staffer" thread in resume board below... oe
  6. Hard to beat a Slug-Go. oe
  7. As well as the Arbor knot... the Uni knot will work also. oe
  8. I fish 3", 4" & 5" curly tail grubs ALOT and want the tails to wave fluidly when retrieved very slowly on a very light jighead. To date I've found no company molding a grub with a tail thin enough to satisfy me, so I spend my winters thinning grub tails with an emery board. Another winter project is to file the barbs off any new baits or hooks before I used them. oe
  9. John... I can only grade you with partial credit on that answer. More please. oe
  10. Ahh... info and opinion I was looking for. Thanks oe
  11. John... That's been my modus operandi for some time, but I wonder each "cleaning season" if removing the shields would improve cleaning and/or bearing performance. I oil and lightly clean every reel I fish with a couple times during my fishing season as it is, will removing the shields unnecessarily complicate my process. oe
  12. To those of you that breakdown and clean your reels frequently... do you remove the bearing shields and replace them to fish, clean the bearings with shields in place or remove and leave the bearings off while fishing knowing you have to clean them more often??? oe
  13. There may be several reasons you want to use a mono leader with braid line, but your rod and reel doesn't figure into any of them. In some heavily pressured and/or clear waters bass have been conditioned to avoid highly visible lines. Abrasive cover may fray and weaken leaderless braids. Leaders can control how much line is lost in cover that is snag prone. Mono leaders can improve "walking techniques" in topwater and jerkbaits. Mono leaders can alter drop speed or running depth of baits. You have to decide whether a mono leader will improve your circumstance. oe
  14. Let's see... Lunker City, Berkley & Kalins... and that would be just grubs. oe
  15. A bag that limits your tackle to only what you will consistently use. Less tackle = more fishing. oe
  16. None unless used as a spinnerbait trailer. Ergonomically, a spinning combo provides me with a more relaxed grip which leads to better vibration recognition... aka. sensitivity. oe
  17. Fish exposed hooks whenever the cover allows. Mid-day summer location in natural lakes: when fishing a feeding flat mid-day, turn around and throw out the other side of the boat. Smallmouth can be caught mid-day in the summer suspended at the the same depth as the flat a long cast out from the drop off of the flat over much deeper water. oe
  18. Anyone pouring any 2 gram wormnose jigheads these days? oe
  19. Thanks... That's the way I remember it. Revo S, SX & STX were on the market a year before the Premier was introduced. oe
  20. Did the 1st S, SX & STX first ship in 2007 or 2006? oe
  21. This isn't exactly on message, but I'm trying to remember... The Premier wasn't added to the Revo family until the 2nd year was it??? oe
  22. Can't find the "thumbs up" button or I'd give you two! Thanks for the PM. oe
  23. Frogman... is the article available to read on-line, or would you post it on-line somewhere? I don't want to spend any money to buy a Bassin' Mag copy. My "working" tackle bag may be as small as any multi-species angle. oe
  24. Bo... I concede the optimum distance a bass will travel "home" is most likely somewhere between weigh-in site and 50 miles. oe
  25. Then why do the upper regions of your lake continue to be productive year after year? Tracking study reports I've read over the years (mostly from In-Fisherman and BassMaster magazine) have indicated many surviving bass track back in the general direction from which they were taken. Some settle in new areas before they reach "home", but a significant number do return to the lake (and river) areas from which they were taken. oe
