  1. ... that happens with Shimano guys. Very little self control. oe
  2. docks, emergent weed edges, standing or fallen timber, bridge pilings, rip rap, current obstacles or restrictions, shallow boulders, points decernable by shoreline, submergent cover visible with polarized glasses. Many others as well if you stop and think for a bit. oe
  3. Is Tom Bedel running Plano now? oe
  4. Basslover... you are missing the points expressed by the previous posters. Artificial baits are designed to mimic natural prey. Within the same water most gamefish share the available prey. The gamefish will be attracted to the same artificial baits whether LABELED as walleye baits or bass baits. oe
  5. A good sized drum on light tackle will give the fight of a lake record smallie but is always a disappointment when we get it close enough see... I'm still baffled why that is! oe
  6. Be sure to tell them it worked just fine until you took it apart three times and couldn't put it back together. I'm certain they'll be ecstatic to exchange it for you. oe
  7. I'd be very careful making that generalization. Fishing line opinions are like... well... opinions of most anything else. 832 is very good braid; some opinion givers haven't given as much time to using it as they have spreading their opinion. oe
  8. Thanks for the responses. I was looking for some ingenious idea that some tight wad like me has developed to remove that pin without needing a 50 dollar tool specific to that job... guess not. I may just remove the braid from the spool and clean the spool and bearing together in an ultrasonic cleaner. oe
  9. For those of you that service your reels... what is your procedure to remove the spool pin securing one of the spool bearings? Has everyone purchased or built a removal pliers or have some of you mastered a different way of removing it? oe
  10. White lines become very hard for the angler to see when viewed against the glare caused by a slight chop on the water. Most yellow lines provide an easier target to follow on the water. oe
  11. I suspect I made the point I was attempting to make. oe
  12. I smile when I read recommendations of products that are "best"... after a series of modifications are performed! oe
  13. So how much does this Citica cost after you pay for the upgrades that allow it to perform as a Revo S? oe
  14. Not many crushing bites on a cold water hair/hare jig, so I'm not a proponent of multi-strand nylon weed guards on them. Better odds having bass hook themselves while fishing exposed points. A light wire v-shaped guard is as heavy as I fish... if I'm forced to that extreme. I don't "feel" most bites until they are already hooked. Keep the weight as light as you can and still be confident it is near the bottom. Keith... your jig looks to be tied on a 60 degree eye stand-up head... 1/8oz.? The eye out in front of the jig like yours will help lift the nose over rock and timber. Fish it with your rod tip up (between 1:00 & 2:00) as you drag it along. oe
  15. Tom, Please continue your thought... In what situations, on what baits, have you compared results with a feather dressed rear hook? oe
  16. I don't own any lake so I appreciate it when others don't cruise over top or sit on the spot I'm casting to... that's it. Others are welcome to anywhere else on the water I'm not currently fishing in. oe
  17. I hope you know how to fizz them. oe
  18. I'd much rather compare length than weight. oe
  19. Probably isn't the bear's 1st choice in wishes... Five smallmouth baits... Kalins 3" "Triple Threat" grubs; pumpkin/chartreuse Kalins 5" Lunker grub; bluegill Gopher Tackle "Big John's" mushroom jig head; 1/8oz & 3/16oz Charlie Brewer "Pro" spider jig head; 2/0 hook 1/8oz; 3/0 hook 1/8oz & 1/4oz Lucky Craft Pointer "Silent" 95; any "ghost" color (minnow, bream, baby bluegill) Lucky Craft Pointer 75; color as above Lucky Craft Gunfish 95; Sunfish color Wiggle Wart; phantom brown crayfish (I haven't fished this color but it looks interesting to me) War Eagle "Screamin Eagle" spinnerbait; either spot remover or mouse oe
  20. Can't say I've ever had a need for my tack hammer while cleaning reels. oe
  21. To those who really appreciate hard jerk baits, all varieties... always have one tied on... ice out till ice up... do you more than rarely fish a "crankbait"? oe (I don't)
  22. While reading the above mentioned article, be sure to follow the links to Brian's original fluoro vs. nylon discussion "The Truth About Fluoro" (or some similar title). oe
  23. Turn it off, stuff it in a zip top sandwich bag and keep it in you pocket. Your fishing will improve! oe
  24. Gopher Tackle (of sorts) oe
