  1. I think that he meant that he was using 200lb leader material as his main line and 400lb leader material for his actual leader. If anyone has ever fished for grouper before, they know how hard those fish hit. I can only imagine the hit of a 500lb one. I think that the reason he was not strapped in or using a rod holder is because if he did and caught a world record, it would not count. Cody
  2. I have caught both species of these fish on tube jigs in smaller inland lakes in Ontario. Hopping a tube should work in a river too. Just upgrade to a heavier jighead such as 3/8 or 1/2 oz. This is a picture of a 24.5" inland rainbow i caught in September on a tube jig.
  3. 6.25lb Smallmouth this summer. Cody
  4. The x-raps are great baits for smallmouth, and I have had moderate success with them for largemouth. When fishing for smallmouth try "slashing" the bait with 2-3 foot long pulls then let it pause. I have caught my biggest smallmouth to date, a 6.25 on an x-rap. Try varied speeds of retreives. Good Luck, Cody
  5. I would have to agree with Mattlures, that regardless of the state you can catch big bass. I throw a lot of 6" Storm Swimshad in Ontario and frequently catch good sized bass on them. I have caught 20 smallmouth in a few hours on this bait, with about a 2lb average. Largemouth will eat it too up here. I also have a question for Mattlures. I find that the largest of the bass seem to follow the lure to the boat then turn around and swim away. What is the best way to convert these followers to strikes. Cody
  6. http://www.canadianfishingtour.com/ The Super Series runs in a Pro/Am format. It is an excellent learning experience. You can call them and talk to Jenn for information on registering. Hope to see you there. Cody
  7. I don't know if it is the same for largemouth, but when I have broken off smallmouth on topwaters or crankbaits most of the time i see them leaping in the air and shaking around trying to free themselves from the lure. Most of the time they succeed. I have even been able to retrieve a few of these lures after they were shaken off and left floating on the surface. Cody
  8. I meant to post this website: http://www.shop.com/op/aprod-p21236390?sourceid=235
  9. I am also only 15. This past summer I fished the CFT Super Series as an Amatuer in the Pro/Ams. It was a great way to learn, and I ended up finishing 9th overall, much better than I expected. If you can't find a club t join, I suggest fishing a Pro/Am. You can learn so much from the pros. Cody
