I prefer the popper because I can do more different types of movement, anything from a twitch in place to a nice solid spit and pop......The walker is pretty much just a walker and a better open water lure.

Spot on Dwight!......It is amazing how many fish you can actually land on the same line with the proper knot and retrieval technique.

This discussion reminds me of a friend who some years ago used Buck Perry's Spoonplugs.....No consideration for matching the hatch, but, only for depth control and speed trolling around structure .He started at about 10 feet and progressively went deeper by changing lures related to the depth......He regularly caught many large bass 5 lbs and bigger with this method.....To me, a distasteful way to fish,but, effective.

It seems to me that a number of variables surely contribute to the spawn ,and, with that being an accepted premise, why pontificate beyond what has been said?.....How about proceed with launching your boat and fish accordingly!.....Not trying to mean mouth anyone,but, the why and wherefore looks like a moot point.

Very interesting observations and interpretations, HOWEVER, I have it from a good source that the overriding factor in bass spawning is when the LILACS are blooming........

Buzzbaits thru the pads if possible, frogs and more frogs, flukes around the edges......Also weedless spoons dropped in holes.

I have had great success with the Skitter PROP......I usually rip it pretty hard with a changing cadence....Vicious strikes!
