  1. I have some 40 lbs Power Pro on a bait caster and used the 12 lbs mono that was on the spool for backing. all you need is enough mono to cover the spool 5 or 6 times. I used the uni to uni knot that was on the sheet of paper that came with the Power Pro and it has worked fine for me.
  2. I have a St.Croix Premire 7' med, fast bait caster that I'm thinking about Pitching and flipping with. I understand that the conventioal wisdom says to use a MH or H rod. I live in Ohio and most bass I land are under 5 lbs. The cover is mostly lay downs and some thick weeds by mid summer. Do you think it will have enough backbone of should I be looking for MH/H rod. Also what line do you think would be best with this setup?
  3. I want to work on my Flipping and Pitching skills this winter and was thinking about buying a baitcaster with a Flipping switch. Are they a gimmick or worth the investment. What reel would you suggest. I would like to keep it tn the $80-120 range. Also I'm right handed but was thinking about a left handed model.
  4. Thanks for the offers to share your MS word/Excel fishing logs. I'm sure you have put much thought and time creating them. I downloaded Fishing log pro from the net and will test it out. If you don't mind I still may PM the fishermen that offered their homemade versions and give them a try. Thanks again, Bugman
  5. I'm looking for a fishing log that I can download. If anyone has a link to a program that they think is best I would appriciate if they would let me know. A free download would be great but i'm willing to pay if it's that much better.
  6. Looking for a new rod for flippin & pitchin. I have a St. Croix 7' Premeir MF but not sure it's got enough backbone. Do I need a 7.5' Flippin Stick MH or H? Thanks, Bugman
  7. I see that PowerPro has come up with a Red line. The ad said that fish cant see red under 15' of water. Will the fish be spooked by the red line in water less than the 15'?
  8. I'm looking for a prop for my Sears Gamefisher 14 lbs electric fishing motor. Model # 217-590140. I e-mailed Sears and i'm waiting for a reply.
  9. I'm looking for a book that will have good info on Smallmouth Bass fishing. I will be fishing Lake erie but am mostly looking for info on how to fish rivers and streams.
  10. Thanks RW I plan on giving the "magic lure" a try on some of Lake Erie's shallow bays this spring. Ill let you know how it worked. Bugman
  11. RW, Do you use the Fat Ika for smallies? If yes, do you fish it the same way as you do for LM. Thanks, Bugman
  12. What type of rod will you use when cranking? I use a St Croix mhm crank rod that is best for 3/8-1oz lures. I can throw smaller lures down to 1/4oz. If you use a MM or MF you may have to stick with 3/4 oz or smaller IMHO.
  13. I want to buy a float tube or Pontoon to fish small lakes and farm ponds. Most that I see are for river fly fishing. Dose anyone know of a good float tube/pontoon for Bass fishing. I would like to keep it under $500. Also it would have to fit in a standard pickup truck.
  14. Has anyone used float tubes for bass fshing? I have covered much water on rivers but how much water can you expect to cover on lakes?
  15. Do you think I could use my wading gear or will I spook the bass by getting into the water?
  16. I'm looking for some advice on fishing for Bass from shore or wading. In my line of work(pest control) I'm very busy during the spring-summer season. But I do get some opportunity to fish between jobs. The problem is that I can't bring a boat.
