Livewell Pump??
thanx!! but, why is the livewell pump below the water level?? why will there be water around the impeller?? i mean, if the bilge is dry, will it still suck water from the outside?? the only reasoning i can think of is that the pump is inside the bilge, at a position lower than the water line... so water pressure would force water inside the pump, even with an empty bilge.... is that right?? so i need to remove the hose i have going to the water inlet, and connect the pump directly?? i had thought i could raise the pump but that didnt make sense to me... am i right?? so, will the pump i liked in the original post work?? or can you recommend me one from Academy?? its the closest store i have, without buying online?? thanx!!!

Livewell Pump??
so, basically, is this a fill pump that will take water from the outside through the hull and fill the livewells?? http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_12669_-1?N=876431623 if so, i just need a hose to the outside, a hose to the livewells, and wires to the switch?? thanx!!

Livewell Pump??
thanx!! i dont plan on filling the livewell with bilge water.... the problem is that right now i have a bilge pump to fill the livewells, and in order for the bilge pump to work, i t has to be submerged... i modified it to accept a hose that goes to the through-hull intake, screened and witha nut on both sides of te boat... after the pump begins pumping bilge water, it will start taking clean water from the intake.... but, i would prefer for all of the water to come from the outside... thats why i need to know, can i just replace the bilge pump im using, with the one on the link i provided?? i mean, will it suck water from the outside without being submerged?? because thats the problem with the bilge pump, it need to be submerged to create enough vacuum to start pumping, once it starts, you can take it out of the water and it will continue pumping through the hose...

Livewell Pump??
by the way, the livewell is well above the waterline... it has a drain hole below the waterline, and another one above it... so it will get about 4 inches of water through the lower drain hole, but thats all, it will never fill by itself....

Livewell Pump??
Hey. I want to install a pump to fill my livewells. When we got the boat, it didn’t have a bilge pump… well, it had one, but it was connected to the livewells… so I connected it to the outside to empty the boat, and then got me another bilge pump to fill the livewells…. But after I connected it, I discovered that the bilge pump wont move water unless its submerged…. If the bilge is full of water, I can fill the livewells ok, but if its empty, it wont push water…. So basically I want to know the proper way to conect the hoses and fill the livewells…. I see this pump: http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_12669_-1?N=876431623 Its called aerator pump, I guess that’s the one I need?? Or is this one more like a recirculating pump?? Right now I have the bigger bilge pump on the bilge, with a hose that goes to the side of the boat…. And the other bilge pump, which I modified to accept a hose on the inlet… this hose goes to the lower hole in the bilge, and the outlet hose goes to the livewells…. Since the "livewell" pump is also on the bilge, as long as there is water there, it will fill the livewells… in fact, it only needs to be submerged at the beginning, once it starts pumping, it will suck water from the outside… if I just remove that one and replace it with the one of the link, will it work even when the bilge is empty?? I wish I could look at another bass boat, but where im from, they are few and far between, I only know of another person who has one, and its not close enough to go and take a look…. Besides, english is my second language, so if I didn’t explain something correctly, please let me know and ill do my best to explain it again… thanx!!

Quantum Code
ok, thanx!! i was struggling a lot with the code and the other one felt way better, i guess ill have to practice more with it... thanx again!!

Quantum Code
hey... i just got a quantum code, and i have some questions... the big brake, the one on the left for a right handed reel, has some numbers for the settings... however, it only clicks on both ends, and on 2 intermediate points... so, basically it only has 4 settings... i own another quantum, the kvd something from basspro, and it hasa lot more adjustment.... so, did i get a bad reel?? or is that normal?? yesterday i was struggling a lot with it, i couldnt get it to work properly, i couldnt adjust it, so i went back to my other reel.... oh, another thing, the other brake, the smaller one on the right side, is really tight to move... i tried moving it both ways, and i had to use a lot of effort, while on my other quantum, its very smooth.... thanx!!

What Am I Doing Wrong With Worms??
hey... im a new bass fisher.. i have a small lake 15 minutes from my house, and i have been fishing it regularly the last weekends... i have located several spots that always produce fish... i have been using one of these in Fire Tiger color to get an average of 6 fish each time i go there... http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Crankbait/product/10225050/-1217040 i have also tried red worms, and watermelon worms, but i have yet to get a bite from those... i think its because i dont know how to work with them...so, being that i already have located several good spots, i would like to try to hit those spots with plastics and learn how to use them... so, being that im using a green crankbait, i thought about a green worm to start... does that makes sense?? the fish in this lake are not big, the biggest i have caught was maybe 2 pounds, but 1/2 of my catches are 1 pound or less... its basically inside the city, it gets very low bass fishing pressure, but its a really small pond, and a lot of people use it for skiing or just hanging around... also, what should i do with the boat?? right now what i am doing is setting the boat 20 yards from the shore, and letting the wind take me, making adjustments with the trolling motor.... so, basically i get to fish all the rocky shore in about 40 minutes, and then i come back with the trolling motor and make another pass... this way i have located some good spots along the shore... now that i know where they are, should i anchor the boat and stay for a while there?? this is my first time in a bassboat, i used to be a shore fisher, so im not sure if one should always be moving or not...

Talking While Fishing
hey. when fishing with a partner, do you usually talk, or are you quiet and tring to make as little noise as possible?? me, i always fish with my best friend, or my dad.... and we are never quiet, we talk about everything... with my dad its the only time i have alone with him, due to work schedules we rarely are at home at the same time, and never alone... so fishing is just an excuse to hang out with him and spend some quality time... i dont know if that affects the number of fish we get, but i dont really care.... when we go hunting we try to be semi-quiet, but fishing is just a time to relax and talk for us.... what about you??? does noise affects the numer of fish you boat???

Trim System
no i dont mean trim tabs, i mean the cylinders used to raise/lower the motor... i will post a pic asap.... the thing is im at work and when i get home its already after dark.... but ill take pics tomorrow.... the boat is an old bass boat, 18 feet i believe, mid 1970s, 85 HP Johnson.... it has a Kingfisher tag on the sides.... thanx!!

thanx, ill take a loot at that one... i would prefer to buy everything from the same store, but ill check it out...
-
Trim System
thats what i thought, the relay is making a clicking sound, but i dont see a pump anywhere... and the cylinders dont seem to have a plug, that makes me believe they are some sort of shock absorbers or something...
-
Trim System
im talking about the trim of the motor, adjusting the angle to increase speed and decrease RPMs... at least thats what i have been told it does, i have never owned a bassboat before, in fact i had never been in a bass boat before, so i have to rely on the internet for help.... thanx!

Opinions On This Combo Please
thanx a lot for your response. i was looking at the Pro Max, and it looks good. what i dont like is the frame not being aluminium, but i guess all of the reels in that price range will be composite. im still debating over spending a little more to get an aluminium frame... maybe this one?? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-ProLite-Special-Baitcast-Reel/product/10230856/-1779355#prodDescription or for $10 more, the Quantum Code?? http://www.basspro.com/Quantum-Code-Baitcast-Reels/product/10208931/-1742625

Trim System
hey. i am fixing an old bass boat. supposedly it had a trim system, the console has a lever that says TRIM and when i push it, i can hear a click sound... but, the cylinders under the boat seem as if they are regular shock absorbers... i dont see any hoses going to/from the cylinders... can they be just shock absorbers?? Or where are the hoses located?? i wish i could take a look at the system on another bassboat, but since i dont, i need to get all my info online... thanx!!

Opinions On This Combo Please
thanx, but i live in Mexico, so there are no local stores, except one that charges twice as much as online stores... i already have what i believe is a decent reel, i dont know anything about the quality of the rod (jarvis walker, 6'6", MH)... but i am using this same setup for everything... i know thats not the best thing to do... thats why i am looking for a better rod for my reel and use that for crankbaits, and another reel for my current rod to use that for worms... right now im not fishing much with worms, since i havent caught one fish with them so far, so im throwing more crankbaits with good results.... but i would like to have a dedicated worm setup and use it more to learn how to fish with plastics....

Opinions On This Combo Please
thanx!! so, what do you think about using my quantum on that rod in 6'6" M for cranks, and getting one of those reels for my 6'6" MH rod and use it for worms??

Bilge, Aerator, And A Flooding Problem
but boystcroix, shouldnt they be sealed so no water gets inside them?? from what i have seen, they only get water from those same holes, so i think if i close them, the compartments wont get any water... but how can i make sure??
-
Opinions On This Combo Please
thanx a lot for the info!! i was about to get it, now i definitely wont... bass pro is not my only option, but i dont have a local store either... i live in Mexico, so unless i want to pay twice as much, i have to purchase online in the US... i get a good discount at bass pro though, and i have some other things to get from there, so i would really prefer to get my rod and reel from there also.... Packard, thanx for the link... i had considered that combo also, but i have been using my quantum reel http://www.basspro.com/Quantum-Kevin-VanDam-Signature-Series-Baitcast-Reels/product/10210407/-1760445 for cranks and have been very happy with it.... however my rod is MH, so i want to get me a Medium rod Fast tip to put the quantum in and use for cranks, and another reel to put on my current rod for worms, and spinerbaits apparently.

Opinions On This Combo Please
hey. what do you think of this combo?? im a new fisher, i already own a Quantum in 6.3:1 mounted on a 6'6" MH rod (dont know about the tip). so i am thinking about getting this combo in 7', Medium action, fast tip, and use it for crankbaits and spinnerbaits, and use my current setup for worms. what do you think?? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Special-Baitcast-Rod-and-Reel-Combos/product/104163/-1556752

Picking Couple Of Combos
thanx for the info! so i think ill get a 7' Medium Action Fast tip to use with my current reel for cranks, and i will get me another reel to use with my current 6'6" MH rod for worms... this is the combo im considering, but i will take it apart and use my reel on this rod and this reel on my current rod.... http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Special-Baitcast-Rod-and-Reel-Combos/product/104163/-1556748?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL 38-954-878-07 what do you think?? i know its not top of the line, but im a newb, so i believe this will serve me well for a couple of seasons... btw this is my current reel in 6.3:1 http://www.basspro.com/Quantum-Kevin-VanDam-Signature-Series-Baitcast-Reels/product/10210407/-1760445?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL

Bilge, Aerator, And A Flooding Problem
thanx for the great info!! i get it now... so, right now i only have a manual bilge pump, but i will get another one to fill the livewells, and an automatic switch to conect to my current pump.... another question... there are this 2 compartments to the sides of the bilge.... i think they could be flotation chambers or something... but they have a hole, so when the bilge gets water, the water goes to the inside of the compartments... is that correct?? what are those for??? heres a rough diagram... when i wired the bilge pump, i filled the bilge with water at my house, and then turned on the bilge pump ... i noticed that when it was empty, water was coming out of those holes.... but someone told me those compartments are flotation chambers, so, i dont know...
