  1. thanx!! i will get a quote on the wraps and installation and see if it is reasonable to do them... i already have an air compressor and paint gun, so that would be a plus, for paint i only need the materials.... another thing is, to apply either paint or wrap, how do you do it, if the trailer is in the way?? is there a way to unload the boat?? i have been thinking about it but i dont know how to do it...
  2. the wrap stops at the water line?? i thought the wrap came all the way down... i have seen the pro's boats at the trailers and the wrap covers all the boat... because if the wrap is only on the top part, what do you do with the lower part?? right now it is all stained, and definitely needs to be fixed.... i think it would look weird in the trailer with the top part all pretty and shiny and the lower part dirty and stained....
  3. hey, i have an old bass boat and want to install a trolling motor flush controller, something like this: http://www.pitstopmarine.com/product_info.php?products_id=738 my question is, can i just cut the fiberglass deck and install it?? or is it filled with foam or some flotation material i cannot remove?? i am assuming if the part under the storage is empty, i wouldnt have a problem, but if it has some material i dont know if i can remove just enough material to fit the tray with the pedal. the boat is a 1970-1980 bassboat, it says King Fisher on the side plate, i think 15 or 16 feet long.... thanx
  4. thanx Zoff, but im a little bit south of Virginia.... in Mexico actually =) i have a friend who has a decal shop, they label the public transport bus, and make decals and things like that... by a wrap, you mean something like that, right?? and, if i get a good deal on a wrap, how can i stick it to the boat if it sits on the trailer?? i know its a dumb question but i really cannot figure it out.... thanx!!
  5. basically, i have an old bass boat, it runs great, mechanically everything works, but its not pretty.... so, besides recarpeting and refurbishing the seats, i want to know what is the proper way to paint it.... right now it is white with red, i want to paint the white with smoke gray and the red with blue. should i paint it first before installing the new carpet?? and, how do i paint it?? i was also thinking on decals, maybe i can get a good price, but i dont know how to install them, specially if the boat is sitting in the trailer..... thanx!
  6. thanx a lot Deep!! it looks exactly like that, only it has metal pins and the caps slide in them... i moved the metal pins at first, but then i realized maybe the caps are the ones that have to be moved, just like you show... and thats how i set it for now, 3 on and 3 off just like you show in the pic... thanx again!
  7. should i push the metal pins, or the plastic caps it has??
  8. hey. i just bought me a new H2O Mettle reel, and it has a centrifugal brake. this is my first reel with this type of braking system. i tried adjusting it with some instructions i read here. so, i pushed 3 pins towards the axle of the spool, and leave 3 outside. however, i cannot put the sideplate back on. the pins are hitting against the bearing in the sideplate... if i push all the pins to the outside, i can put the sideplate no problem.... so, am i doing something wrong here??? thanx!!
  9. hey. im looking for a handgun, and they are offering me a Browning BDA in .380. i havent seen it yet but the seller tells me its in great condition, and to make him an offer. im not really into handguns, more into rifles, so, thei would be my first handgun and i dont know anything about the model. so, do you know how much should i offer? thanx!!
  10. well, im leaving for Ruidoso in a couple hours, and i didnt get any response, so i guess ill leave my rods at home....
  11. thanx wolf... im not really sure if its a great deal or not, thats why i want to know what to do.... and, as mentioned earlier, i would prefer to do it myself... i like fixing my own stuff, i fixed my outboard, completely wired another boat we had, fix as much as i can on my jeep.... i just dont feel like paying someone for doing what i can do, and im sure after i know how to do it, i will do it with more attention since its MY stuff and im not on a schedule or something....
  12. as he said.... thats exactly what i got from my GF... she wanted to get me something fishing related, but after a glance at Academy online, she wisely aknowledged that there was a 99% chance what she could give wouldnt be what i needed/wanted... so, she told me to pick something up and send her the bill.... my new reel and some plastic baits are on the mail now.... so, dont waste your money, most probably what we need or want wont be what HE needs or wants...
  13. yes, in case it was under water, i would say it was for 1/2 second at most as i quickly retrieved the rod... i know it can still wash out lubricants and such, but i would think a product meant to be used on the water with high probability of being submerged, would at least have some protection. sealed bearings at least. thanx1
  14. thanx a lot for your help!! the reel is almost new, about 5 months old... indeed, it has never been lubed or anything. and, i know i have never taken a reel apart, but, when am i going to learn how to do it, if i never open one because i have never opened one?? not to be an *** or anything, is just that im used to fixing my own stuff. besides, shipping to the US and then back to Mexico wont be to far from the cost of a new reel.... i have a reel lubricant, cant remember the name, but ill look it up and see if that helps... if not, i prefer investing in the lubes i need so i can lube my and my friends other reels... i know if i keep fishing i will probably drop another reel in the water, so i prefer to learn how to do it now.... so far i just removed the side plate and cleaned the shaft and bearing with a Q tip to remove the grease. i saw a clip that i would have to remove to take out another bearing, but i didnt do that. as long as there are no hidden springs that will launch without me knowing where they go, i think i can start taking pieces out, cleaning them and putting them back on.... i have been taking small 2 stroke motors apart and putting them back on for some time now, so i enjoy doing it and i believe i can do it right. what i really dont know is where to put oil, where to put grease, and where to clean and leave as it is. thanx!!
  15. thanx! as mentioned earlier, im not sure if the reel was under water, since as the rod was flying down i reached out and grabbed it. the handle was under water but i dont know if the reel too.... that happened yesterday, and i continued using it after the accident. i heard a noise that is not present on my other reel. but i havent tried it now that it is dry, so i dont know if it still has the noise. i think ill lube the spool bearings and shaft and see what happens. i feel very comfortable taking things appart and building them back again, so as long as i have a diagram, i think i can do it without a problem. i would propably send it if i was in the US, but living in Mexico, i prefer to do it myself and learn for next time... thanx!!
  16. ok, thanx!! and whats the proper way to take it apart and relube it?? i removed the sideplate and noticed that i can remove the spool and all the shaft. but then?? what else should i take appart?? and where do i have to lube it? are there specific locations, or just on the bearings??
  17. hey. today i accidentally dropped my rod and reel to the water... i was not deep, in fact i grabbed it while it was in the air, but i believe the reel went under water.... its a Quantum baitcasting reel.... i continued using it, and it was casting as normal as always, the same distance, everything seemed ok... but on the retireve, i heard a sound, which i believe the reel didnt make before getting all wet. my other Quantum doesnt makes that noise. so, what should you do when a reel goes under water?? i believe the grease, if any, could be washed away or something?? shoudl i remove the sideplate and oil the bearings or something?? or should everything be OK?? thanx!!
  18. thanx. when i posted the question there were 7' MH, but yesterday morning i went to the site to get one, and they were gone.... so i guess ill wait a little more to get another rod, i have the wendlandt on the mail though.... =)
  19. hey... i opened another thread about the All Star rods, but thanx to your suggestions, i ended up ordering me a falcon wendlandt instead. it is a little more pricey, but im sure it will be a better rod....so, now i have 3 rods: fiberglass jarvis walker tuff tip, 6'6", MH, that i use for spinnerbaits and bigger cranks fiberglass browning silaflex 6'6" M, that i use for cranks graphite falcon wendlandt, 6'6" MH that i will use for soft plastics, maybe jigs after i learn how to fish plastics (i have never done it, i only use spinnerbaits and cranks, thats why i wanted the graphite rod) so, i saw the camo stix and thought that, for $30, i "should" get one of those.... but i dont know which one would better complement my small arsenal.... i was thinking a 7' MH to use for spinnerbaits, and leave the jarvis for bigger cranks or leave it at home. what do you think??
  20. thanx!! i just tried to order me an H2O Mettle, Academy wont take my Mexican card, but maybe i will get it when i go to the store in a couple of weeks. i have read good reviews on it, and even though i would like it to have a brake system similar to the ones i already know, i think i wont have a problem with this reel...
  21. thanx a lot for your input.... just another question... what would be the drawbacks or negative effects i could have if i get the Heavy VS the MH?? the thing is that I have to purchase Online, and neither Academy nor *** will accept my Mexican credit card. so i will ask a friend for her US card, but i would like to use it only once, so i need to get everything from the same store. or in case i cannot purchase online, i will be forced to wait until Dec. 25 when i will be at Academy of El Paso and buy directly on the store. but the online Academy webpage only shows this as a wendlandt: http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_11619_-1?Ntt=wendlandt&Ntk=All it is MH with extra fast tip, and it is $50 more than the Bucoo, which is also something to consider.... so in case i am forced to get the bucoo 7' H, what would be the negative effects?? or what should i take special notice or care more about?? thanx!!
  22. thanx!! i dont have the reel with me yet, im still deciding on which one to get for my new rod, but that one has a lot of good reviews and is not too expensive, im leaning strongly towards it, the only issue was the brake system, but maybe its not as hard as i thought...
  23. thanx... could you elaborate on the tips?? i know more or less about the power, M, Mh, and H, i dont know exactly when to use which one, as you can see, but i know the difference... i have a M and a MH and i can definitely tell the diference between them.... however, i dont know about the tips... thanx!
  24. i have a question regarding reels, specially the H2O Mettle http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_133325_-1?Ntt=Mettle&Ntk=All how do you adjust the centrifugal brake pin system?? the 2 quantums i have (Code and KVD from Bass Pro) have a knob on the left side of the reel. the Code has only 4 positions, the KVD has 10... but the H2O reel, which has a lot of good reviews in several pages, has a 6 pin centrifugal brake system.... how does that works?? i read something about having to remove the side plate to adjust it... seems slow and not practical to me... is it easy?? or how do you do it?? i have never had any other baitcasters in my hands, other than those 2 i own and 2 cheap ones from Shakespeare.....
  25. ok, so, there are 3 wendlandts to choose from... one is a 6'6" MH, another a 7' M, and the last one a 7' MH.... which one would you choose for plastics?? the 7' MH says its for Deep Cranks, while the 6'6" MH says All Around... my other rods are 6'6" and i feel comfortable with them, would a 7' be an advantage for having more leverage or something??
