I "inherited" two in a grab bag I purchased last fall. Was wondering, myself, what they are. Hot Shot, huh?. Good trolling baits... I like to troll so I'm good.

I still have one but don't use it much. The concept is great but the design execution...leaves something to be desired. While it WILL veer off to one side or the other (depending on how you adjust it), the degree (literally) to which it changes course is not that great. Not enough to really get under docks.

Whenever I find a fishing log, I usually toss a jig or spinnerbait next to it.

Baling hay for farmers was hot, heavy, and very itchy but it had its own rewards. In graduate school I worked as the overnight staff at a facility for teaching young adults with developmental disabilities independent living skills. Anyhow, most of the residents were a real hoot and sometimes we (staff) would take them bowling, to the movies, etc. I would sometimes ask myself, "Am I really getting paid for this?" My current job? You can have it.

Batteries and several large bundles of fine steel wool. (I don't know why my boats keep catching on fire).

Here is another: An oxbow lake is a U-shaped body of water that forms when a wide meander from the main stem of a river is cut off, creating a free-standing body of water. This land form is so named for its distinctive curved shape, resembling the bow pin of an oxbow.

An Oxbow is where, at some point in time, a meandering river takes a more direct or straight path and leaves a section of the "former" river cut off from the rest. It's basically becomes a lake or pond. During high water, oxbows are prone to receiving new water from the swollen river but when the water recedes, the Oxbow is cut off again. They are generally rich in nutrients Apart from during high water, there isn't usually any current in an oxbow.

Daddy buck won't be anywhere around. Male deer follow the 3 F philosophy. (This is a family website so I won't explain what that means). The mother deer, on the other hand.... I'd have been much more concerned about the homeless fellow. Not to be a hater but a fair number of the ones (around here, anyway) have mental disorders.

During the cooler months, the bass won't start biting much until later in the day when the water temps edge up and their metabolism goes up. One lake I fish predictably doesn't "turn on" until 1 or 2 p.m.

Adjust the magnetic brakes (inside the reel plate). There are instructions which should have come with the reel. That will make a world of difference. When I first bought mine I felt like you do. I feel differently now.

No...but the good news is they aren't too expensive so if you do hang up, it isn't likely to induce tears.
