Are you still living/fishing in Virginia Beach? I know this thread is old, but I live in Virginia Beach and agree with Wdy. In the spring you also might try a crawfish soft plastic. good colors would be brown and orange, black and yellow and any dark blues or greens. A red or purple 7.5 inch Culprit worm work wonders on summer evenings. you will be surprised what you can reel in from the shore or a decent dock. you might try Western Branch Reservoir, there is alot of info on that lake. I also use Google earth religiously to find places to fish from shore (i dont have a bass boat either).
