Bass Pro Master Catalog 2012?
FINALLY GOT MINE! I'm in the market for a new rod, but me and a friend think BPS is really pushing their brand of rods!? i went to BPS to spend some gift cards and i noticed that ALL the BPS rods were stocked to the max but Shimano, St. Croix, Abu's and several other brands were sparsely stocked. Anyone have the same thought?

Wintertime Fishing
think of your lipless crank as a yo-yo. lift the rod up then let the bait free fall as you retrieve the extra line. repeat and vary speed to find what the bass want. follow this link --> http://www.probass.net/protips/Articles/jb1.php ...this article was good. it explained the yo-yo retrieve well and named some common mistakes fishermen tend to make. it was a good brush up in the basics for me!

Wintertime Fishing
Yes, i fished everywhere from the bank and found this one hanging on a steep drop off. as "gobig" advised, i "yoyo-ed" and got the only bite on the drop. i did vary the retrieve, the speed and location just to cover the bases. fill me in if you connect!

Wintertime Fishing
First...Thanks to "Missouribassman95" for starting a great post Second... Thanks to "gobig" for the above quoted advice. Third... the results (see attached pict). Not a huge bass, but a bass at the end of my line on the 23rd of December will always produce a smile!

Explaining To The Girlfriend!
Hey mine too! you cant go wrong there! BUT she didnt like it at first. had to teach her how to flip and pitch, use cranks and spinners, when and were and all that stuff! while i dont spend a huge amount on fishing gear (or at least not as much as i would like to) i had to buy her a rod that she liked. one that felt good to her and THEN she got it. she was using one of my "hand me downs". try showing her why you spend so much... but on the other hand, shes not married to you... why is she worried about your budget? unless you've bough more stuff instead of taking her out and spending money on her! that could be a BIG prob! good luck

Wintertime Fishing
dont forget suspending jerk baits! they are deadly on slow moving bass (match the hatch)

Tough Va Beach Lake: Need Suggestions
TOUGH SLOW Lake behind house. The GOOD: this lake receives hardly any pressure. The BAD: the largemouth are stubborn, the water is super clear, not much structure to speak of, little grass on the bottom. The UGLY: the only pattern I've been able to establish is the pre-spawn crawfish bite (then is lights out fishing!) This isnt a double secret pond that you always catch something in. RANDOM INFO: This is a drainage lake that was dug in the 60's to build a nearby interstate. its deep and bowl shaped. it has a good population of shad, blue gill. some channel catfish, yellow perch and chain pickerel. i live on this lake and i've seen HUGE bass cruising the shallows in the spring. i just cant get a consistent bite. ive decided to start exclusively fishing this lake for awhile to try an establish a pattern. i fish it,year round with disappointment. drop offs, flats, points an a cove. this lake has it. but i could REALLY use some help. being that its winter, my plan is to get on the boat and use jerk baits, jigs, senkos, worms, and rattle traps (ALL these types of baits work in this area). Ive included a map of the lake with info i've gathered. maybe some of you would be kind enough to take a minute and post some suggestions. im patient, but im doing something wrong...thanks for your help...

What All Is Needed/ Which Brands To Buy
if you are looking for a good weight, i suggest tungsten. pricey, yes. but great for sensitivity and it makes a louder click underwater. buy some 1/8 or 1/4 oz to start. you will quickly see what im talking about. great for texas rigging bottom bouncing baits.

Suggestions On Medium Heavy Fast Tip Spinning Rod Under $150
i'm fairly new to fishing rods. now that im catching bigger bass, ive realized the need for a good rod. i'm looking for a medium heavy, 6.5-7ft, spinning rod for about $150. What length do you prefer? what brand? any experiences shared with a rod similar to my description would be great. Thanks Tight lines -Sean

Forum Rookie Looking For Posting Advice
I'm Sean, I'm 25 and live in VA Beach and constantly think about when i can fish next. i already introduced myself back in May when i first joined the forum but havent been as diligent as i would have liked when it comes to posting. i do alot of bass article reading here but feel like posting a "good job" on someones thread is a "cheap" post with no real value. this has kept me from posting. the majority of the time. My question is, "How to i effectively post my valid questions without looking like im just here to dig info and run?" i posted a question under the Southeastern Fishing forum yesterday, but there havent been any comments. i have a suspicious feeling that the regulars think im just looking for the secrets and moving on. i could use a tip or two if you have them. Thanks and tight lines... -Sean
