  1. If you can get the veritas for less than $75 I would ****** that up. Either you'll fall in love with it, or it could wind up being trade bait later on down the road. -Coak
  2. No Icast is a Manufacturers' Expo........kind of like an auto show........and last years gear will be on clearance along with all the new "bling" they will be showing off for this year. It's in Las Vegas this year in about a month, but could be wrong.
  3. If it were me I'd keep it...... add to the collection and use it lightly until it goes. That said, if you only have a couple of rods and will be using it more often then I would consider returning it. As far as I'm concerned, it all boils down to the frequency of use and what applications you would implement. You may get by using it for spinners or something where you can sweep set a hook instead of something like frogs/t-rigs where you need to really snap the rod to set the hook. Hope this helps, Coak
  4. I was able to snag a 6'7" M/F off of c-list for $50 nwt yesterday. I'm going to pair it up with a tour edition 6.3:1 and use it primarily for spinners and buzzbaits.......I can't wait to get this thing on the water and the fact that I bought for 50% off of retail only sweetens things!
  5. I use primarily Quantum gear. However I will say that if you fish Quantum, you need to be willing to wait on killer deals or splurge for the upper echelon equipment. I'm just saying their top notch gear is wonderful in my humble opinion and Quantum doesn't get nearly enough respect. Not trying to start anything, just stating that Quantum gear as I see it is underrated by far.
  6. I've got a 5'6" med pwr rod I throw 1/8 oz rooster tails and spinnerbaits with on 6# mono. Other than that rod I won't go below 8# mono with my casting gear. That little rod is only for creek fishing and therefore I'm not trying to cast for distance but accuracy instead. Coak
  7. I own the 6'6" M/F version. There should be a thread I started about this reel if you search for it. I feel the rod has a little more backbone for a M power rod. The action is typical. I like the rod and am glad I found it on sale.........however if not on sale, I would have opted for an *** by *** prob. Overall for $59 the rod and alconite guides alone make up for the pricing. Great rod and a great value I feel

  9. I picked up a couple Rebel Wee R squarebills the other day along with a few single bladed Bomber spinnerbaits
  10. I wish I had just an inkling of the talent that some of you guys have so that I could customize some of my gear to make it truly one of a kind!!!!
  11. If you got the reel that you absolutely wanted, don't bother getting buyers remorse or questioning whether or not you made a good decision. I use Quantums and love'em. I will say though, that if you're not used to the ACS braking.......practice, practice, practice........as they take a little getting used to since you cannot make incremental braking adjustments as you would be able to with the Daiwa. I own and use both Quantum and Daiwa and feel that they are on par with other reels.
  12. Thanks guys for all of the information. RiverRat I will definitely be checking your website out in the near future. I just have a hard time ordering things online because I do not have a paypal account. However, if you accept CC's I'm am very inclined to help support a small businessman who makes their product here in the U.S. still. Once again thankyou to everyone for all of the helpful information. I'm glad to see that there are both ways I can modify my own spinners and guys that still produce a single blade spinnerbait if I need to buy one. Coak
  13. I agree with RM for the most part. I love my quantum reels, but learned a long time ago to shell out the extra coin for a higher model if considering buying quantum.
  14. I haven't been able to bend the wires to remove the top blade on some of mine and have damaged the arms. I also am frustrated how it used to be that every manufacturer would produce/sell single blades and now they've gone the way of the dinosaur. Is there a way to cut the smaller blade off without damaging the arm? The caption under my name says what it says for a reason..........I truly do not know
  15. I would also check out either the flea market here, or check around on like craigslist or the bay and getting something else if you choose to pass on the PQ
  16. Heres a link if anyone wants to check them out........ http://lawlures.com/Innovation.html
  17. So I've been looking for a single willow bladed spinnerbait for a while now.......and I can't find them anywhere. I was in cabelas today since I had a gift card and came across this single bladed spinnerbait. The arm looks really funky to say the least, as there are multiple bends in the arm for added "vibration". I'm really looking forward to seeing how much vibration the arm truly gives off. Anyway, I'm just curious to see how many if any of you have either 1) used this spinnerbait or 2) have heard anything about this bait or law lures which I think is the company name? Thanks in advance, Coak
  18. Any idea what the IPT is for gearing that high?
  19. x2 on the Quantum......only I have the PT Tour Edition........Quantum just doesn't get enough love
  20. Inline spinner............underrated/overlooked by many bass fisherman and flat out catch fish
  21. X2.......but I also wear PFG from Columbia as well
  22. It depends on what you fish more of......if moving water like rivers or larger bodies of water I would go with a kayak. If fishing smaller bodies of water like ponds and what not, I would seriously look into one of those tube things as well. I have no experience with either, as I simply wade fish in shorts, but just my .02 for how you could possibly look at it as well.
  23. Check Craigslist......whenever I'm looking, I always see a lot of spinning rods for sale. Casting rods not so much, but spinning rods as the day is long
  24. Yeah I just took the rod out and it definitely does load up on the cast like more of a MH.......at least for me. Do they generally fish heavier than advertised?
