  1. I'm Absolutely a cork handle guy... Sincerely no offense but leaving the plastic on the handle is insanely idiotic to me... The reason why I'm a cork handle guy is cause I like the FEEL of it....not plastic.. Especially on a higher end rod with better quality cork... That would be like buying a really nice chef knife but only cut butter with it cause you don't want to do any damage to the blade........or maybe not..hahaha! And I'm extremely anal about keeping Everything I own in really nice condition.
  2. Hahaha....Yea...blacknblue I think I love you... 5.33lb first fish of the year...how do I post pictures I Absolutely LOVE fishing a jig, I can see why its eveyones favorite lure to throw It was actually on a black n blue bps 1/2oz football with a blacknblue baby paca craw, Dobyns 734c, lews TP, 50lb sufix, I had a bunch a rigs go She hit it on the fall, didn't even know she was on, went to shake it an she was there so I swung away! Was in about 10' around some rocks...Honestly I'm surprised we caught anything, water was 47, cloudy an windy. Me an my main fishing budy were just dieing to get out there!
  3. Gonna throw that exact setup tomorrow for the first time, actually tomorrow will be the first time Ive ever thrown a jig, can't wait. I know there no right, wrong way but I rigged my so the chunks appendages start right where the skirt ends so from the pic you posted about a 1/2" further down. I'll post a pic when I get home see what you guys think, cause I'm gonna do a few more tonight having a few cold ones...Hahaha!
  4. Wow guys thank you for all the input..I love this place... Brian Needam, the pinned thread was the fist thing I did but didnt find my answer but seeing as it is 15 pages deep I probably just missed it... So the link you posted with the pictures....in all the pictures the trailers appendages start right where the skirt ends, is this basically how it should look cause that is how I imagined it should be. This is what prompted the question cause most of the trailers I grabbed, which I chose from ones I see guys talk about here did not match up like the pictures you posted. The appendages started easily 1 inch after the skirt which did not look right, but hey what do I know. Last season was my first season with bait casters I'm sure you can throw a jig on spinning gear but most of the stuff I read guys are throwing jigs on pretty stout casting gear which is what I see everyone catching the 10+ slobs on...haha, in the end, is what we're all after...right. Thanks again guys...I can't tell ya how many time I tell all the guys I fish with..."you gotta check out the site Bass Resource"...
  5. So I'm going to throw jigs for the first time this season...or try any way lol...My question...I got a ton..is...Im at bps last night and I'm trying to size trailers, specifically Paca Craws to 1/2oz jigs and to me who knows nothing about jigs, look Way to big. Am I wrong. I ended up getting the tiny an baby paca Craws. Any way in the future. how do I know what size trailer I need cause I usually shop online which if was the cause last night I think I would of ended up with trailers that were way to big.
  6. Fully agree....sucks. I wanna love'm so bad.... I honestly think Nothing is as good as a real Senko...just other stuff that do other things...if that makes any sense! Although I will be using them again this season do to buying the 104 piece Stik-O kit with 360 tackle box when it was on sale for less than two bags a senkos...I figured a ton guys here love'm worth a shot for that price...but hey maybe this year Ill love'm. Just picked up a bunch of NetBaits stuff last night at bps...they look killer, i hope there good I had no luck with all the Havoc stuff i picked up last season so.... I regularly use Yum Dingers an a Ton of Zoom stuff that I Love....horny toads, Ol' Monster, trick worms, Salty Super Fluke, lizards...just few Love Zoom
  7. I'll be hitting bps Thu to pick up a few things an one of them was gonna be some horny toads but notice the humpin toads are on sale so I thought maybe I'd try them out but my buddy tells me there not that durable which seems strange to me cause I use stickos quite a bit and there Really durable. So I thought I'd ask u guys what you think? Worth it or pass?
  8. I have two, a 6'6 an 7' mf spinning with pfluger supreme mg's they were my first real bass setups. For $70 I think there a Great rod. I did snapped the top 6" of the 6'6 on cast, sent it back to St Croix an they replaced it for free. I think they fish a little heavier than there rating, as I've pulled many 4-5's out of grass with no issues...
  9. I have a PQ an like it just as much as all my Lews, but the less than 6oz the CL lists is Very attractive, which would be my only complaint about the PQ, I Definitly feel the difference picking up a setup with a TP after a few hours of fishing and the CL is even lighter. You can return a reel after using it? And im asking about a Tourney... NOT a Tourney Pro? Which I also have an love. What ratio would be best for primarily a jig setup?
  10. I noticed this reel on sale for $100 from another thread here. I was looking to pick up another Lews tourney but for $50 less this seems to have everything and more. Can anybody tell me if they have directly compared the two and how different they maybe? Or if this is just a really good reel for $100?
  11. Sorry for my ignorance, I didn't receive the flyer either. So I can trade in ANY reel that works towards a PQ for $65? Is this correct? And this is only on February 22nd?
  12. I'm looking at getting either another Lews tournament Pro or the new BB 1 Pro. The 6.4:1 TP that have now is currently on a Dobyns SS 734C with 50lb braid that I use for all my heavier stuff, jigs, frogs, 10" weighted Trig worms, etc. I'm thinking about picking up a 7.1 put that on the SS 734C and put the 6.4:1 TP with maybe 30lb braid on the new Dobyns 703C which is going to pretty much be my go to set up, trigs, senkos, spinnerbaits,flukes... So what do you guys think which one of these reels and at what ratio?
  13. Same here. I use a mono backing to prevent slipping also which I've encounter on spinning reels to. And I also reverse the line every other season as mentioned.
  14. I know your trying to save some cash right now but......I fully agree here. Im guessing the $100 range for a rod is what your looking at? Look at it like this, a Veritas is a $99 right, so two of those would be $200 for a pitch n flip and frog rod setups, plus reels, I know your only looking for one setup so this is for comparison sake. The 736 is $30 more and will out fish the Veritas or anything else in the Veritas range at BOTH techniques HANDS DOWN. That being said, I own a 7'3 MH/F Veritas an dislike it for anything, I do not like the feel of it in my hand, its a lifeless broomstick to me. I would look at a denali, 13 fish, even St Croix, or for a Little more a Savvy is really what id be looking at. Good luck, an let us know how you make out.
  15. I have a MH Veritas I picked up this season that I dislike for the fact that it fishes Way heavier than any other MH I have, even heavier than my Heavy's. Im really thinking about picking up a Mojo. Would you...or anyone else, say the Mojo is a more accurate MH or M...which is what im really looking at? In relation to the Veritas. The closest place that has both is an hour away which is why im asking. Sorry if this is an inappropriate place to ask this. Thank you for the heads up on this deal.
  16. I thought I remember reading most guys throw the Fluke style swim baits typically in spring and fall. I picked up a bunch of zoom flukes and some KVD caffeine shad at the beginning of the season with very little luck with both of them. I'll be going out tomorrow for what will be pretty much my last trip of the year, I'm in New England, it was 34 degrees out last night, anyway I'm only going to have about 4-5 hours on the water time and I know this pond holds 9-10 lb chunks, although I haven't caught anything bigger than 3lb. just don't want to waste my time throwing a fluke if the conditions are really not worth it. What do you guys think?
  17. Fully agree with the broomstick sentiment. I picked one up a few months back for $69 going on all the great things I've read about them here and figuring since so many guys here use them they were probably a safe bet. don't get me wrong they are a great rod I'm just not sure I agree with all feels everyone has about them having great sensitivity. I also have a 7'M Vendetta that I pickup over the Veritas, along with my other rods and my Dobyns Savvy, which for $50 more Blows the Veritas out of the water. Good luck.

4/0 ewg, weightless, white and green pumpkin, twitch twitch pause....but. I've read so many great things, and how so many people love to fish them. I've been throwing them a few months now with no luck whatsoever, not even a bite! What gives?
  19. whoowhoowhoow....now this is something Completely different. I would loose my **** if seen somebody doing this...pure ignorance. but good for you bro, I woulda done the same.
  20. ! Hahahaha...yea that always goes over well...regardless! The only time she gave me lip is when I drop $400 at BPS like 4 months ago but hey...I got the boys there first set ups and " they " needed takle...hahaha!!!
  21. My sister gave me one of these about 5 years ago...I don't know if its do to the age, but the thing doesn't work??? Freshwater...just soap really. But a day on the ocean ... I use bleach. Then I wash my hands with vinegar, to remove the bleach, then I just washed my hands with Softsoap. PITA I know, but it works ....
  22. Yup... X100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
  23. I've only been in the freshwater game for 3 years now, this being my 3rd season and it seems as though it gets more serious every season, I Love it. Same as myself, I've got 2 of my buddies I saltwater fish with for years pretty hook...lol. Anyway... I constantly think about putting mono on at least one rig, but started with braid on the spinning rig an just fell in love...no memory, line twist, tangles, the diameter...just love it. Never used floro, know nothing about it. What would be some benefits from switching and which rig would benefit the most. I don't know how to pich an don't have any jigs or have any idea how to use them. I mostly use worms, toads, frog's, an lately spinners. I fish a lot of Stained water, with a LOT OF VEGGIE. I own cranks but never use them do to the heavy veg...guess I really should learn jigs then hu. One of my buddies I mentioned has a boat an we do get out just about every week but I live on a very big river up here in Mass so I'm beat'n the bank very often. Enough...sorry guys, just wanted to give a little info. I love this place, I've learned a ton from you guys...seriously...thanks for all the help.
