Hey Guys, Unfortunately I won't be able to make it out this Sunday. My wife is working, and I've already cashed in my babysitting coupon with my mom for an event I have to attend on Saturday evening. Just wanted top check in with everyone to see how the Fall fishing has been. I've been getting out about once a week at Black Hills, but the fishing has really been off ever since that heavy rain a few weeks ago. I fish from the banks and wanted to see if anyone has any helpful hints for fall fishing at Black Hills. This is my first year bass fishing, and i was looking forward to the famous fall bite, but so far been very dissappointed. And I've thrown everything- spinners, shallow cranks, jigs and my beloved Senkos. I've been frequentling the tubes, the fingertip/backwash area and the stick ups to no avail. I've managed of couple of dinks here and there, but nothing to write home about. The anglers I've spoken to have said the same. Any pointers wouild be highly appreciated! Feel free to send me a PM. Made it out to Black Hills on Saturday evening from 5-8:45pm with a friend of mine and we did great (at least for us)! He had three- 15 and 18 incher, and a dink. And I had a dink with a 18 incher. Check out the pic below.

Hey all, managed to get out this morning from about 7:30 to 11. Started out throwing a frog over by the visitors center, then switched over to a sweet beaver but no luck. After over an hour I drove over to the tubes. Switched over a Senko (with a little twist) and landed 4 four fish and missed two. The biggest was 17.5 inches, one a little smaller an two dinks. I have off this week so I expect to be out there every morning except Thurs.

I'm definitely interested in a get together. I'll follow up with some dates once I speak with the boss...lol! I don't have a boat either.

Finally made it out Saturday morning to Black Hills. Fished the backwash area, the tubes, the area opposite the tubes, and not even a hit. Finally went to explore a little and drove over to the visitors center. Caught a LM on the first cast, a nice 2 pounder on a Fat Ika that dove right into the slop. Decided to call it a day and headed home.

I'd be in for a meet too!

I may just get out tomorrow night! My wife is a nurse and she's working nights this wekeend, but my mother told me she'd may be able to watch my daughter on Saturday, if so I'll be out there from 4:30 till the sun goes down and perhaps first thing Sunday morning. I'll try to confirm tomorrow afternoon, but hopefully I'll see someone out there if I'm able to go. -Ken

My schedule is getting worse and worse. The way it looks, I may not get out till next weekend. I did manage to pick up a black Spro Bronze Eye and some Rage Tail Craws that I'm looking forward to eventually trying out. The key word being eventually... Sean, I was at Black Hills last Saturday morning from 5:30 - 10am and fished the tubes and there weren't any barriers then so they must have just put them up. That's too bad since I especially like fishing one of them in the early morning or late evening. Oh yeah, I caught three dinks in the first 45 minutes (off that tube) and nothing for the rest. -Ken

Okay, my jealously is even worse. I should be so lucky to walk across the street to catch bass up to 9.5 lbs!!!!

To both Basser to dcfd, thanks for looking into it. I was told about it when I took my car in to get serviced, me and the tech started talking about fishing and he mentioned this lake and a couple of firends told him it holds some nice fish. Being that it's off the beaten path and you literally have to drive down a dirt road to get there I thought it may be a neat little gem that wouldn't recieve much pressure. I may very well drive there to check it out myself, just wondering if anyone had some info on it before I make the trip. DCFD, I read this entire thread to pick up pointers on the area and saw your "little" mishap. Congrats on the new boat and tight lines! Unfortunately I fish the banks so I couldn't help you out with launch points. I think I'll look into puchasing a boat once I become a little more experienced, I definitely have the bug! -Ken

BTW- is anyone familiar with Urbana Lake Fish Management Area? I believe it used to be called Chevy Chase Lake.

Good luck! I believe tomorrow night is when Black Hills is open till midnight so that is great. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it tomorrow, but maybe when they do it in August. I'm off from work Friday and have a couple of things ot take care of, but going to try to get out for a couple of hours in the afternoon, maybe 1-3pm. Otherwise, it's looking like I'll get out there either Saturday or Sunday, in the morning this time though (6-10am) since family obilgations won't allow for the evening. Going to try the bridge and the area you refer to as the stick-ups, then maybe go to old faithful.

Managed to get out to Black Hills yesterday and fished for about 3 hours until sunset. Had the opportunity to meet 301 and we fished a few spots. Not a lot of action but hooked 3 and landed two small ones. The one that got away was a decent fish, maybe 2 1/2-3 lbs but I lost it when it wrapped itself around a floating log...

I went out to Black Hills yesterday evening for two hours up until the sun set. Caught this solid three pounder and lost a even bigger one when I got cut off. I need to get a scale and tape measure so can "know " what I've caught!
