  1. Hydragorrilla, Gambler boats do ride good but are not the best riding out there. They are fast though ;D
  2. Mine is a 3 bank pro se it is a total 30 amp(10 per bank)tha part # in Bass pro is 28-580-080-00. The cost is $269.00. The pro version is about $75 more dollars and the only reason you would need it would be if you only had a few hours to recharge. As long as you have 6-8 hours the pro SE will be great.
  3. Hydragorilla, you will want to charge your 24 volt system as a 24 volt system. You have to buy a charger that is designed for 24 volts systems, if you get a regular 12 volt then you will have to disconnect each time you recharge >. For example my dual pro has 3 banks 2 of which charge the 24 volt trolling system and the other one keeps my cranking battery fresh.
  4. Did you get a verado?? I have seen skeeters with Mercs but have only been in some with Yamahas. I have a Gambler and after riding in a Buddys Skeeter this past spring (20 footer) I have to say that the skeeter is a great boat and I will definatley look at them when the time comes. My biggest dislike to my Gambler is storage space, that is not even an issue with a skeeter. Enjoy your new boat!
  5. 1. Fastest boat------Gambler(of course ;D) 2.Most stable --------Champion 3.most fishable----Ranger 4. best overall--Gambler 5.best buy-------Stratos 6.I have to add one nick, the best resale has got to be Ranger. That is a very important statistic.
  6. i spent a lot of time last year (summer) fishing deep water. A lot of lakes get recreational boat traffic during tourneys and I would alway try to find some creeks or other cuts to get into to stay out of that rough water, guess what? the fish dont care if its rough!! I have been concentrating on getting into deep (sometimes rough) water and its been paying off.Deep water bass fishing is truly a tough thing to learn but I've been getting better the last couple of years and now that the fish are going back to deep water its helping a lot.
  7. I'm guessing youre still fishing the shallow water :-/, I have been having good success with carolina riggin the deepest rock points of off the main lake(usually 40 ft) and pitching a jig/pig into deep standing timber. The bankrunners are all thats left in the shallows around here, like you said youve been catching plenty of them
  8. thats the only place my boat has been charged(except motels!!) since I brought it home. I have never heard of anyone having that problem anyway. Another good charger for a lot less is the minnkota on board. I would get an on board for sure just because all you have to do is plug it in, and when youre traveling all you need to bring is a good heavy extension cord.
  9. Get a dual pro three bank charger. It will charge 10 amps PER battery, my batteries usually recover in 6-8 hrs.
  10. I dont think it would get any interference at all. If you buy the transducer mounting kit all you have to do is install the transducer and zip tie the cord to the trolling motor and trolling motor controlls. I have never had any problem deploying my trolling motor. just make sure you only zip tie it to the parts of the shaft that move.
  11. Bass_junky, I have the same problem with mine after about 65mph. I think the speed just messes with the transducer because I can switch it to flashgraph(which has much faster signals)and it works fine.
  12. If I only had one unit I would put it on the trolling motor. Its hard to guess where a certain object is if you are in the front and your transducer is somewhere else. You transducer only covers a small area at a time so if you are in the front and its in the back, by the time you see it on your screen you have already passed over it.For example if you were to pull you boat up onto a steep drop off your trolling motor may be in 1 foot of water but you fishfinder may be showing 12ft. since its in the back of the boat.Remember that a shoot thru hull transducer cannot give accurate temp readings. I would highly recommend buying the trolling motor mount
  13. I have no chips in my gelcoat or any stess cracks anywhere in my boat. I would let your manufacturer look at it, It may be a gelcoat problem and they should warranty it. I know gambler will warranty their gel coat for 5 years against fading and lifetime against hull or transom cracking.
  14. If your jack plate is adjusted right you should only have to trim it up about 3/4 of the way(it wont let you overtrim if its in gear) or until your water pressure goes below 15lbs.You will know when its there because the engine will run smooth and the water spray will be very near the back of the boat. I have always heard if the boat has a "rooster tail' that is taller than the engine cowling the engine is either trimmed up too far or the jackplate is too high.If you do overtrim the engine all that will happen is it will begin to come out of the water and your rpm's will start going up fast, just let off and trim it back down a bit and youre there,
  15. If the boat still has the vin plate the year will be the last 2 digits. Have your DMV run the vin # and this should tell you what you need to know. The plate will be located on the right(starboard)side rear of the boat. Assuming it still has a vin plate.I think anything made after the mid 70's was required to have a vin #. If it has never had a plate then you can be sure its older than that.
  16. Carolina rig with lizard or baby brush hog.C-riggin is it this time of year. As the summer gets hotter i will begin dropshotting deeper water.
  17. yankee_Lake, no offfense but why mount a 7-8lb largemouth. That is not really all that big of a fish. I live in Ohio and we dont have the huge fish that Fl. and CA. have but even here a 7lbr is not worthy of mounting, pictures for the scrapbook sure. It will almost always take over 5lbs to win big bass in our tournements, and I have seen several 6,7,8's this year so I dont think a 7 or 8 is worth the time and money to mount, much less taking some great genetics from your lake.
  18. I also have a 480 lms on the console and it has a bigger screeen but I really do like the size of the 67. It is easy to read and shows up great in direct sunlight. we had a tourney sunday and it was very hot and sunny, I had no problems seeing the screen and as a matter of fact it was much easier to read than the one on my console, I guess I need to put a color GPS on my console now! ;D
  19. If you are planning on saltwater make sure you get a something with a saltwater motor, a saltwater trolling motor and a galvanized trailer, Its going to be hard find a boat like youre describing. I would buy a freshwater bass boat. An occasional trip to saltwater should not hurt it as long as you wash everything with freshwater when you get home and always flush the engine with freshwater.
  20. Gambler installs their trolling motors perfectly in the center of the bow. Most other manufactures do put them on the port side so you can see over the trolling motor when driving. Just make sure wherever you put it that the shaft is in the center of the boat when the motor is deployed, thats all that really matters.
  21. I have one on the bow of my boat and have had great luck so far. I like the lowrance stuff anyway so I am well pleased. You will love the color, I couldnt believe the difference it makes.
  22. It is well worth the extra money, unless you like fishing from the back of your boat. The trolling motor has to be deep enough to stay in the water in waves, On a rough day I will put mine all the way down to keep it in the water. The shafts are adjustable so get a longer one and raise it if you have too. I have fished some water that had 2 foot waves so it really does need to be capable of getting that deep.Remember bigger is always better ;D so dont go down in lbs. thrust, if anything go up. Some people prefer handcontrolled on the bow(not me) because its easier on their back than standing on one foot all day.
  23. In muddy water the fish are focused more on sound and usually only see a outline of their prey, so the darker colors give mostly an outline. I agree with most of your post if I were worm or jig fishing but when spinnerbait or crankbait fishing in muddy water I usually go with a chartruese so I may be all wrong but it works for me. For me muddy water, dark colored jigs, tubes, worms or lizards. and bright colors on anything that a fish has to chase to eat such as crankbaits or spinnerbaits.
  24. I prepare mine by unhooking it and putting it back so it can grow and have babies
  25. Bill Dance does not even need to be on the list. If its for greatest angler, he dont belong. If we are talking about people who have promoted the sport then he should be in the hunt. There is a big difference between GREATEST ANGLER and someone who has promoted the sport. Bill Dance has never won a classic even though he has qualified several times(7or 8). In order to win this honor I think a Bassmaster Classic win is a must. Roadwarrior, just because hes from Tenn. wont hold up either ;D
