  1. so a 5:4:1 or a 6:4:1 would work fine?
  2. I am looking for a reel that i can use for treble hook baits such as crainkbait and jerkbaits. The rod i have in mind is a 7' MH moderate fast Powell Diesel. I am wondering what gear ratio the reel should be for various treble hook baits. Right now my budget is about 120$ but lower would be best. Any reccomendations welcome. Thanks! -Jack
  3. Thanks for the responses guys, I stuck with my gut and went to the store and got two packs of the original PowerPro. Maybe next year I will go try the 832 braid. Thanks again -Jack
  4. The first braid I ever used was spiderwire and I hated It. Then I found my self using regular Power Pro. When I first saw the Superslick, I thought it was a great idea, but I never got some to try because I thought that eventually the coating would wear down on it.
  5. Hey guys, I was looking to get some more braided line and I was wondering is if there is any advantages (other than noise through guides) that the Superslick has over the original. I have always used power pro original on all my braided setups. Thanks in advance! NOTE: This braid would be used on both baitcasters and spinning.
  6. This past year i made the decision to try a new technique. I chose tho learn the ways of a jig. My first jig was a Booyah Pigskin Jig. Since then, I got a combo entirely dedicated to jigs. I also have picked up 30 jigs, most made by Siebert Outdoors. I would Highly recommend trying jigs because for me, that is my most producing lure. Just my 2 cents.
  7. For plastics I use a 6'8 M St. Croix Mojo Wacky Style. I pair this with a 2500 Shimano Sahara FD (Previous Model.). I love fishing this rod with plastics. I also use this rod for other things such as drop shot and weightless plastics. The rod is $100 and the reel used to be about $80, that is my favorite spinning combo, I am a really big fan of the Sahara, (that is actually the only spinning reel i use) so I dont really kno of any other quality reels for around 50$. Good Luck! -Jack
  8. I am a freshman at Timberlane Regional High school, Plaistow NH. This past year, the NHIAA held it's first bass fishing tournament. I am trying to get my school to participate in this and to start a fishing team. I was wondering if anyone here has gone through this process or has recommendations on how to get this done. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Personally I have more luck with just reeling and pausing, the kicking "legs" are what trigger the bite.
  10. Ok so if I go with Drop Shot, What type of line should I use and what lb test?
  11. Ok so for a while I have had a 6'8 medium, spinning, St. Croix Mojo. It was a little lighter action than I really wanted, so it has just been sitting around. I was thinking of using it for finesse or weightless plastics. I was also wondering if it could be used for drop shot. Thanks in advance!
  12. Winter here in New England has given me plenty of time to find the best was to store plastics i my bag. I have a Plano Guide Series 4673. What I do is I try to carry as little plastics as possible because i fish from shore and I try to carry as light as possible, yet have everything I need. I put the plastics in the side compartments of the bag and in clear zipper pocket.
  13. so far I have spent a couple hundred since November including a Daiwa Cielo and a new tackle bag. I have also gotten alot of jigs and more plastics (just what I need haha) I also picked up 10 more crankbaits. I'm saving my BPS gift cards for February when the new BPS open near by in Hooksett NH.
  14. Sorry title is supposed to be Lamiglas Excel Bass II Series Casting Rods
  15. I was just looking through some rods on TW when I came across this rod. There were no reviews and i was wondering if anyone has used these rods or if they are any good. Thanks.
  16. So I picked up one of these rods at a local tackle shop for 90 bucks. I got a 7'1 MH. My questions are 1. Are these rods any good? and 2. What would be a good use for mine. For a reel I have a Shimano Citica 6.3:1. Thanks!
  17. Hey everyone, after endless good reviews, I decided I am going to get a pro qualifier. I am going to get a 6:4:1 that I would use for jigs and Texas rigged plastics. I was wondering what rod I should get to match. My budget is 120$. Thanks for your help!
  18. I at Dicks last week and I was looking at the reels and they had a Shimano Citica marked down to 99.97 and the had the sale for an extra 50% of clearance items ending in .97. I got a 130$ reel for 50 bucks! Dicks has some great deals, but you have look real hard to find them.
  19. I started baitcasting a while ago and i am ready to upgrade. I already have my mind set on a reel, so I am looking for a rod. I am looking for a versatile rod. something that will cover almost anything. The rod that I looked at was a 7' Med Hvy Falcon Bucoo. Any reviews on the rod or any other suggestions? My price limit would be under $150. Thanks for your help.
  20. I have been searching for a line that is going to work well on my spinning combo. I have braid on all of my other reels and I was looking for something with abrasion resistance. I have tried multiple brands of mono including Stren, Suffix, Trilene and BPS. Any reccomendations on any other brands of lines or any other types of lines. Thank you for your help.
  21. Ok, so I live and fish in New Hampshire and I heard that they were trying to get rid of lead lures. I want to play it safe when I am buying stuff now, so what companies make lead free lures, and does lead free affect the performance?
  22. So what kind of line do you use to start the year?
  23. I'm looking for some new line to put on my 2500 Sahara to mainly be used for weightless or Texas rigged plastics. I'm looking for quality, but not too expensive. Suggestions?
