settle1 thanks, that is what I was looking for, why? To push air out of the unit. That makes sense, just something I never knew the WHY to.

That is my point exactly, the first time I tried to use a squeeze tube on my new nitro it was a total joke. I went through 2 quarts of oil and most of it lay on the ground. They gave me a free pump at the marina for my troubles. I was wondering perhaps if there was even a better way than the hand pumps. I saw an oil buddy device, looked as if you could put 3 gallons of oil in it. I was wondering if that might keeps my hands a little cleaner.

Hi all, what a site. I do have a question if I may. Hating the hand pumps to fill my lower unit, is there a easier way? Why do you have to pump the oil up into the unit, is there a easier way to get the lube where it belongs?
