  1. POP-R all the way son!!!!! The best are the ones with the red mouth.
  2. The classic Jelly Worm is a favorite among the "seasoned" angler's out there. I have to hear my dad talk about using them 30 + years ago. I just recently got a few packs of the 9 inch Mann's Jelly Worms and want to know any tricks to rig them. I have been T-Rigging them on a 2/0 worm hook and doing good, read some other places to use a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG. Let me know your favorite way's to rig this classic.
  3. Anyone ever heard of the REACTION INNOVATIONS VIXEN? It's a topwater lure made by RI and the going rate for these things are well over $60 per lure. If you do a search on EbaY you can find them for upwards of $100. Just want to know if this is the new miracle lure or what?
  4. Right now Bass are targeting schooling shad, so YES these are bass! Throw something in the middle of the pile and hang on. Ideally you want to throw something that will get to the bottom, the big bass hang out and wait on the wounded shad the little bass leave behind. Keep throwing to the spot were you see the commotion and you might land a big one!
  5. Happened to me a few times using Senkos, I get em hung up on rocks when shore fishing on my river. I think once they get snagged they act as like a drop shot rig and just hang there freely and fish hit from pure reaction. It makes the bait look natural and the bass can't resist! Gotta love pull'in one out when you least expect it, oh wait that's fishing.....
  6. Strike King KVD 1.5 in any color! Good luck!!!! Tackle Warehouse has them on sale, I recommend the Chart Blk/back, Craw colors, Sexy Shad, and Bluegill patterns.
  7. Smallmouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All day!
  8. This service is NOT FREE, just so you know.
  9. We all have that set date or temperature when we hang up our rods and winterize our boats. I live in West Virginia where it will be snowing in a month, fortunately we still have a few more low 70's temp days left. When do you think it's time to call it quits till Spring? How cold is too cold to fish? This is a sad time for angler's and we have to trade our rods and reels for bow and arrows. Give us your thoughts and opinions on when you call it quits for the season!
  10. Thanks for all the replies!! Very good knowledge base here at Bass Resource, we are all very lucky to have the Bass Resource community to help us out to become better anglers! I pulled in my first buzz bait bass today! Believe it or not is was on a $1 buzz bait from Walmart, I put a bead on it and bored out the holes on the wing and presto a decent bait for $1. Wasn't a hog but it was a bass, the excitment of using something new never gets olds! Thanks again!
  11. Jackall Crosstail Shad? Heard good things about these as dropshot baits, anyone fish with them any other ways? Found them on Tackle Warehouse, pretty good price........
  12. What is your favorite fall baits? Break down your favorite baits for Early Fall and Late Fall...Feel free to list as many as you like!
  13. Anyone use buzzbaits? I was curious if anyone has any luck with a buzbait for largemouth/smallmouth? I was just watching this guy on WFN killing laremouth on this white buzzbait, not sure what size or brand but he was catching hogs. I know most of these shows are trying to sell lures but they never mentioned the brand. Anyone have any good luck with a buzzbait please let us know!!! What colors you like? What sizes? Brands?
  14. What is the best type/size hook for dropshoting roboworms?
  15. I was wondering what size hooks to use with the 3 inch Beaver's? I was thinking a 2/0 wide gap but just want some opinions on the hook the majority of you rig them. THANKS!!
  16. Use a blue craw on a black jig........
  17. Here's what is on my deck at all times.... -Spinnerbait (Many to pick from) -Senko (4 or 5 inch Gary Yamamoto / Case Plastics Jack's Worm) -Crainkbait (Deep & Shallow - Love the KVD 1.5 & 2.5 Silent Series) -Fluke (Case Plastics Sinkin Shad / ZOOM Super Fluke) -Popper (Pop R / Gary Yamamoto Sugoi) -Jig (Casting jig w/ Craws) -Drop Shot (Gary Yamamoto Pro Senko / Roboworm) Don't forget your JJ's Magic to dip your soft stuff! Sometimes I have 2 of each, I prefer to grab and cast than to waste precious time on the water. Buy good equipment, remember in the fishing world you get what you pay for. Spending a little extra on your gear will save you grief and money in the long run. I'm not saying buy a $300 reel and $400 rod just don't skimp on the goods. Check out the Quantum Energy reels and Pfluger reels for some quality at a decent price. Also St. Croix has some rods in the $100 range that are very nice, I have a few Mojo Bass rods by St. Croix that are awesome.
  18. Smallmouth tend to not stay in one place too long. Fish for smallies in cover or submerged timber, big rocks are smallie holders too. Largemouth Bass are exciting but a good fighting smallie will get your blood pumping. Even a little guy feels like a 30 lbs shark when he attacks. Get some senkos and a good rod and catch some fish! Before you know it you'll be on the market for a bass boat and have a garage full of rods and tackle. Welcome to the addiction my friend!
  19. Love fishing the New River!!! Get a guide to take you out or you can seriously hurt yourself, your boat, or worse becasue the waters are unforgiving! There is only one true go to bait for the New River, the Case Plastics Sinkin Salty Minnow 3 3/4 inch. The white or pearl hologram are deadly in that body of water, they will be good in your local river or stream if you live in WV also. The trick to these baits are to use a #1 size hook in a WG Finesse, not a 1/0 but a #1 very important difference. Hook it right through where the eyes balls would be, the action is truly unique and you'll slay em. BUY MORE THAN ONE PACK OR YOUR KICK YOURSELF IN THE #^@ when you run out in an hour. The large helgrammites are killer too, the natural color is unbeatable. Smallies think its candy, throw it in a nice fast flowing pocket and hold on! Ask any guide in the WV area and he will tell you Case Plastics! I am pretty partial to Gary Yamamoto baits but Case Plastics are incredible and very AFFORDABLE as well. Try the Jack's worms too, you can get 2 packs for the price of one pack of GY Senkos. Good luck and Let's Go Mountaineers!!
  20. Black w/ no flake 4 inch Yamamoto Senko weightless on 2/0 EWG Lazer Sharp Red Hook! Close second is Case Plastics 3 3/4 inch Sinkin Salty Minnow on GAM WG size 2 Finesse hook (nose hooked for that sweet action of course)! Also the Hellgramite from Case Plastics is like candy to smallies, early spring you can catch one every cast.
  21. I've heard some great reviews on the RoboWorm straight tail worms. I bought a few packs of the 4 1/2 inch sizes and a pack of the 6 inch. I do drop shot from time to time and have been told they are awesome for drop shotting but I want to know what you guys think about weightless. T-rigged, C-Rig, Wacky, jighead, shaky, etc.... I am a big fan of the GYB Senko Weightless, these Roboworms are very skinny compared to the Senkos. I use 2/0 EWG of the senkos, do you guys reccommend a 1/0 for these Robo's when fished weightless? Any advise will be great on these worms as I am super pumped to go out fishing with these bad boys in the morning for the first time, I will let you know how they do! Also I picked up some Grande Bass Rattlesnake plastics, they look good and smell like a dirty garlic filled diaper.... Anyone tried these Rattlesnakes worms?
  22. Make sure you buy good hooks, not the cheap ones at Kmart. Hooks make a HUGE difference in good hook sets using Texas Rig's. I prefer Lazer Sharp hooks (Red), 2/0 for 4 in Senkos. Spend a couple bucks on the goods ones and you'lI find way more fish on your line! If a Bass eats your bait with a good sharp hook you'll get her in the boat, I PROMISE
