  1. Well it's getting close to winter so you won't miss anything. It's good that you got that wrist checked out too. Hope it recover well so you'll be back fishing by Pre-Spawn.
  2. I'm not after quantity, I like quality. I have caught around near the 250 mark with 6 of them being 10lb+.
  3. It still doesn't matter, as light as it sound it still heavier for certain people that shouldn't be casting it 5-6hour. I'm only recommending him to switch to a shorter and lighter action rod. My reason of doing so is because I have done that long long ago. I like the fact that longer rod gives more distance and a med/heavy rod will give the backbone to hold up a big bass but it isn't worth it when you are cranking pass 3hour. I switched back to my older shorter medium power rod and my wrist wasn't hurting anymore.
  4. You know what the pro's say. Don't change your style, just find a location that works for your style and fish. You will be more successful. Trying out new technique isn't a bad thing too, but do what works best for you.
  5. Your rod might be too long and heavy for you. Try using a shorter and lighter rod when you are casting a lot and long hours. Something of a 6'6" and med power. The only time you should use a 7'3" and heavy is to jig/pig or frog through thick cover. I doubt it's your Citica reel.
  6. I haven't tried it, but I think this might be a good technique. Let me know if anyone has done it and have a good success on it.
  7. Reel slower and also pause. Allow the bass to observe it like a injure or slow easy target shad. LMB are not like striper that chase their fish. They are ambush predator fish that exert a big energy to hit or swallow a prey.
  8. First off, please describe your rod and reel. They can be a lot of help. Base on what you say, I can only give this advice. Your rod and reel maybe too heavy. Your rod might not be balance.
  9. The Pro's fish to win. I fish to get away from it all and give myself my time and my space. So I have to say, "No!" I would not make a job out of something I love and appreciate so much. I do appreciate the Pro's, they're the one that are actually teaching us the tips to fishing better.
  10. Here's my best best advice for you when you are throwing everything in the tackle box and nothing is working for you. Come back next time with some live shiner and cast it out. Catch one that has a big belly and kill it. Catch a male please, and leave the female alone. I know, it's wrong but it's only one. Gut it open and check what it is normally eating in the pond. Find something similar in that type of lure and slowly finest or reel if it's a spinner/swim/crank bait.
  11. Crankbaits, either deep diver or lipless. Why? It covers a lot of water fast. This fall season, Bass are migrating and you need to know where they are at. When you do find them, you can switch it up to jig/pig.
  12. Yes you can, but it all depend on the action of the rod. Cranking is better with a moderate tip action. Plastic usually use fast tip action.
  13. I don't know what he is fishing but I'm with you on this. I doubt a bass will bent a spool! I'm sure the rod will break before your reel. If and only if your reel break before your rod, you need to buy a better quality reel. LOL!
  14. People tape the spool first because they don't want the line to roll around. If you are using mono to fill the lower portion of the spool so you don't have to waste expensive line, then your doing it correctly. Just tape it after you double-Uni or Albright. Taping also prevent further backlash problem too. Just take your heaviest lure and cast it out in wind direction and pull out an extra 10-15feet and tape.
  15. You're doing great BTW. You should try finest style also. Use a worm/jig with trailer and walk it very very slow. Remember, the reason why you are fishing artificial lure is to always try to trick it to bite.
