  1. There is a little spring and pin that seat in the top of the star drag. These are parts that make the clicking sound, they often fall out during cleaning or removal of the drag star.
  2. Thanks for catching my mistake, sounds like a lot of work when you write it out, but it only takes a minute to actually set it up.
  3. Nice fish, way to stay with it.
  4. $11.50 at TW also at THUT, and 12.50 at another site. Look outside of Bass Pro for your tackle.
  5. Happy Veterans Day, Thank you for your service and those that continue to serve.
  6. So we are saying with all things else equal the reel with the softest gears will be the smoothest?
  7. Do you think it is a perceivable enough difference that if you handed both reels to a novice they would notice?
  8. In what way, I'm not challenging your statement, just interested in your opinion.
  9. I use one of the cheap Berkley line stations, the hardware is kind of cheap but they actually do a good job of helping to get line on a reel properly.
  10. No, I did not explain myself properly in the previous post, I tie a 6 or 8lb leader to the main line, then to the hook, and another 6 or 8lb piece for the tag end to the weight.
  11. 20lb braid to a 6 or 8lb FC leader, VMC Spinshot hook, and a 6-8lb tag end is my normal setup, I adjust to the situation after that.
  12. I use to only purchase rods with cork handles, everything else just felt less comfortable to me. I had an opportunity to purchase a Rage spinning rod at a great price so I did, I have grown to really like the handle on these rods, wish they would have cut some of the threads on the reel seat down but that is another story.
  13. In the past they were identical mechanically, except for the fact that the Scorpion did not make use of the Super Stopper anti reverse. There have always been claims of additional refinement, smoothness and additional casting distance but many believe it is just a case of beauty in the eye of the beholder. IMO, nice reel if you prefer red over green.
  14. The water willow is thick at Eureka, and Butler has developed an incredible lilly pad field in the back half of the lake. 50-65 for me.
  15. USAF 1985 -2005
  16. So I am assuming you ordered the 1128340 spring. I have some old schematics for Mitchell and came up with a part number for a spring in a 308X reel 1083466, might be worth your time to check it out.
  17. ^^^^^Nice setup, should work well for your intentions.
  18. Two very different sounds as the HW is a series of clicks, once you hear one it would be hard to confuse.
  19. I would look at the used c3's over the new S, SX, STX.
  20. Agreed, maybe something like a C3-4600, C3-5600, should be in the price range used.
  21. Lake Fork Tackle makes a good one, not sure how it's going to compare in size.
  22. Knife fish are very cool, I used to have a couple large ones in a 55 gal. aquarium. They look much different than the mentioned fish.
  23. You are correct, they are over rated, please send me your high end gear and I will replace it with something much cheaper. Your Welcome
  24. Pole and Rod seem to be interchangeable terms, I prefer to use rod.
