  1. you can defiantly still fish while in school man. The FLW college circuit isn't anything grueling. Heck I played college football, had a job, carried 18 hours. you'll be fine. Of course that could be why I didn't do so great in the College tournament circuit! Its still a blast to fish in waters you have noooo clue about! If you want to come up north I know Fairmont State has engineering and someone from our team is always in the hunt for the National Championship. Hope that helps my friend!
  2. I said that it was 200, might have been more, or less. Every time I went to my favorite lake I pulled in at least 10 each time. Been a good year for me, heck any time I get to fish is AWESOME!!!
  3. Worst thing I snagged was jagged bed rock.... 20 ft down in the river. Was in my kayak, so i went in after it. Dove down after it and came up with it snagged in my thumb because my kayak kept moving downstream pretty quick. Not a good time, had to cut the hook and push it through the side. OUCH! Got my crank back though!

I've fished the college FLW tournaments, and had a BLAST! I mean there isn't an experience like it. I just think its a ton of fun being able to go out and fish, let alone possibly winning money for it. I mean sure you are gonna spend some money doing it, but you would spend it anyways, why not put it into fishing. I kinda agree with Zip Pow, people do find your spots which sucks, but hey thats fishing. You can't keep a secret fishing spot quiet for very long anyways, someone is bound to find it.
  5. I think the moon phase has alot to do with the fishing. When it is clear nights during the full moon phase the fish are much more active. They can see better so they take advantage of the extra light for hunting, they are ambush predators. I think this is really evident on clear bodies of water, during the day the fish are just chilling out more I think. It can be really tough fishing around full moons. I agree with kms399 you have to get on them super early or in the evenings. I get really frustrated fishing around this moon phase, but some fishing is better than no fishing at all!
  6. Thanks guys! Keep it coming, the more I know about this stuff the better. Went out yesterday evening and tried them out, caught one on it but was having too much fun on the spinnerbait to put any real time into using the Cuplrit Fat Max that I had tied on.
  7. Has anyone ever used any of Culprit's line of soft plastics? I just was given some of their lures like the Fat Max, Creature Craws and other thinner worms that I can't remember what their name is. Has anyone had much luck on them? Any suggestions on best presentation and/or colors or rigging to use with them. I'm pretty good fishing tubes and of course senkos, but this is my first time using Culprit gear. Any help is appreciated.

Well I fish every lake, river and farm pond I can when I'm not working or in class. I mostly hit up a private lake called Rock Lake near Grafton, Wv. There aren't too many HOT fishing spots around this area which sucks. There aren't too many large lakes near me here, basically you have the Tygart lake and Cheat lake. The Mon. river is always decent and that's about all you have as far as good fishing areas. There are some pretty good trout streams around here, but i'd rather get my hook sunk into a bass!
  9. true, doesn't hurt to have one though
  10. get a lake map, there is a road bed that runs through the lake that fish like to hold to.
  11. When in doubt I put on a tube and drag the sucker slow and low. Not the most active way to fish, but it hasn't let me down yet when nothing else is working.

We started one here at Fairmont State in 2009, after much grief from our school. First tournament our guys went out and won it all. School was acting like it was all their idea the whole time, that was until we asked for a little funding. If you start a club make sure you talk to the school and get some kind of funding if you can, it really helps.
  14. Swatara was really high during that time too. We have a cabin about two miles about the Susquehanna (hummlestown area) and the river crested at almost 28 feet. It was awful.
  15. Any luck on the Culprit lures? I just got a TON of them from the FAT MAX to the Creature Craws. Not sure how to use them all yet, like what rigging style but i'm trying to learn. Any help on colors or presentation styles would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all, I stumbled across this site and figured that it would be a great resource for me to turn to when I can't catch any fish. I've been fishing since I could walk, and my dad is the reason for that. I won't tell him but he still can out fish me anytime. I have fished a few tournys with limited success. I go to college in North Central West Virginia but i'm originally from Central PA. There isn't a lot of good fishing in either of those areas so I haven't had a chance to snag any real monsters.... YET!!! A little about me: In college on a college fishing team that does tournaments. Take all my friends fishing and help them catch fish, sometimes not getting to do too much fishing myself. Still get out fished by my father! When not fishing I'm either in class, playing football (on the college football team) or flying airplanes. Just trying to learn how to fish better every day So hello Everyone!
