  1. At least you can cast into your lake.
  2. Yep. They are ten bucks cheaper plus 15-20 on a rod trade in
  3. . Just get the regular mgx. You're not really gonna tell the weight diff at that point. Plus it's a good amount cheaper. Or go with the new premier for that matter. Stronger drag, same brakes as the mgx and still light as heck. I have the mgx. Love it. I was considering a core or a premier but I will probably just wait it out until the mgxtreme is out.
  4. I got my flyer today. I wasn't really impressed. I wish that new revo mgxtreme was out... I'd use my stocked up gift cards and trade something on it... I guess I'll get a pq or something.
  5. It's the 6'8" mf model... I am assuming it's like a jerkbait rod. I can't take it out and mess with it because of the ice. What do you think the rod will be good for throwing? I am primarily a t-rig guy and I think this rod is probably a little light for that. Worst case scenario, I will sell it.
  6. Heh, maybe you can show me around the lehigh a little bit. I hear it's actually decent muskie fishing.
  7. I lurk on here a lot, as you can see I joined over a year ago. I post rarely and even started a topic or two. I primarily fish for musky (unsuccessfully for the most part i may add) but I do a lot of bassing as well. I am from the northeastern part of PA. I also mainly fish at a local state park but I have recently aquired a g3 1860 jet boat so I plan on going on the river (susquehanna) quite a bit. I am a bit of a tackle junky as well, and I'm in the process of getting all of my setups back into some type of order. I currently have some rods I don't really know what to do with, haha. Well, hopefully I can add to this community in one way or another.
  8. WOW. What's crazy about that is I had a chance to buy a chronarch marked way way way down in the bargain cave at cabelas. You hit the nail on the head, the reel was just inconsistent. I went back the next day to pick the chronarch up and it was long gone.
  9. Bps had a pq rod and reel combo for $100 two weeks ago. Imo at $100 dollars the carbonlite rod might be your best value. Fenwick silverhawks run about $50 at cabelas and they feel great in my hands.
  10. I have enough gift cards stocked up at this point, I will be getting one of these. I love my current mgx.
  11. I bought a carbon black and the thumb bar stuck down. I returned the reel. I have a carbonlite that has treated me well despite the bad reviews. Going to get a pq for my crank rod.
  12. I think I've ruled the triumph/premier/mojo/avid out. I think I would go elite with the full grip oddly enough I didn't care for the 7m f elite, they didn't have a mh though.
  13. I have an mgx. Great reel. They go for 240 ish on an auction site. Petty good deal for the $
  14. Thats just it, how do you make sense of all the jargon? I don't mind paying $ for something advanced and high quality but I also don't want to spend the extra money for something that isn't what it is billed to be. I'm trying to do as much homework on it as I can to make the most informed purchase that I can enjoy instead of cursing myself. That kistler boasts a "secret resin"and thats about it. How can I spend hundreds on stuff that seems to be more like witch craft than anything else.
  15. Sam, Thanks for the advice. Cost is not a factor. I like nice stuff, I'm a bit of a tackle junky for musky stuff but there are just so many more options out there for bass stuff. I have quite a few combos that are very nice. The rod I broke was the one I used most and was probably the cheapest one I have. I really did like the carbonlite, maybe I will use some of my stock piled gift cards for the annual spring blow out.
  16. I have three legend tournament musky rods, I have an xtreme m f bass rod but its a little too light for my preference. I have no experience with the kistler other than it's easy on the eyes. The review on tackle tour doesnt reveal much about the specs. The croix is a 62,000,000 modulus blank vs the 85,000,000 for the carbonlite. In the end I don't know what that all means.
  17. One of my compartments slammed shut on my worm rod and snapped it. It was a bps carbonlite 7'0 mh f and it treated me great while I had it. I need to replace this rod and I think I have it narrowed down to a few choices. Kistler helium lta Another bps carbonlite Maybe a croix lt All opinions are welcome. Thanks for your time.
  18. I'm a long time lurker but I'll contribute. 1. Black friday quantum baitcast combo 1A. Black friday quantum spinning combo Absolute garbage. The baitcaster was mind-boggling bad and both of the rods eventually broke. Garbage. 2. Quantum kvd pt burner baitcaster. Pretty, but crap.
  19. You think thats bad? I cast the majority of my musky stuff with an 8ft medium heavy rod and a large round reel. Recently ive been using a 7ft xh with a low profile reel for jerkbaits. The rod feel is totally different and affects casting a LOT. I backlashed 80lb braid so bad that it brok my leader and sent my $20 jerk sailing. It took a little bit for me to get accustomed but it was a painful lesson indeed.
  20. I have the carbonlite, everyone at my bps (employees) seem to favor the jm signature series. A lot of reviews on bps say the carbonlite is making a lot of gear noise. I haven't run into that and I've used it pretty heavily. I like lightweight stuff (I also have an mgx) so the carbonlite is a hell of a deal.
  21. Berkeley 7 inch power worm Zoom baby brush hawg
  22. For me, I do pretty well at my local lakes but ive been up and down them a lot and I can usually get on them. A texas rigged power worm is my go to at my favorite bass lake, while a baby brush hawg is my favorite at another lake. Your equipment is good enough to catch fish (lord knows I caught plenty on an ugly stick. Basically, look for structure, look for any cover or clues- overhanging trees, stumps etc. I fish a texas rig (3/16 weight with 2 or 3 ott wide gap worm hooks with both the power worms and brush hawg) slowly with a twitch-fall and rest sequence. I catch a good amount of fish with this formula, hopefully it can help you as well.
  23. I must have got some older stuff, I hated it. It was way too stiff.
  24. Pline cx for me. I've heard good things about cxx, but cx has treated me good enough I haven't even tried the other stuff.
  25. I actually use my musky outfit for throwing the a-rig. Calcutta 400 te is a pretty big reel but it handles A-rigs with ease
