When i first got my Tracker, it had a the 35# thrust trolling motor and for several years it worked well. But after 10 years of steady use,it started going down fast. I replaced it with the 55# and i have noticed that this trolling motor is starting to wear out as well. I will probably replace it before too much longer and may go a little stronger. In no hurry now as my son just bought a new Triton, so I will start fishing in his boat and let mine rest.

I have a 1993 Tracker Pro 17 with the same battery as you have and a 55# thrust trolling motor. This combo has worked fine for me for years. I fish both lakes and a tidal river. When i fish the river and am fighting both current and wind i have to run it on high constantly, which puts a lot of drain on the battery. Most times when i am doing this, the battery will not last all day. Fishing a lake or an area with little or no current i have no problems with this set up at all.

I own a 92 tracker and for two ppl it works very well. I have the 60 horse johnson outboard and after recently having the carbs cleaned it runs like a champ. One piece of advice is, that if your Engine has the oil injection, get rid of the oil injection and premix your fuel. My local outboard guru says that the oil injection units made in the early 90's were famous for failing. Better to run the engine a little rich than to take a chance on toasting the motor. My son and i recently did a total upgrade on mine, new carpets, wiring, instruments and trolling motor. A little time consuming but not that expensive and the boat looks brand new. The tracker will be a great starter boat and beyond. Just make sure to have a good outboard guy check the motor out before you buy it. Any more questions, feel free to message me.

During the summer here in SC, when the weather and water are both very hot, I have had great luck after an afternoon thunderstorm. The rain cools the water and the fish seem to turn on.

I just add a few pieces of raw potato or a couple of orange slices to the cage and keep them in a cool,but not cold area out of the sun. I have kept them alive for days and days doing this.

Any color is great as long as it's Motor Oil. Of course if i could still find them, the Mister Twister Gold with the black core bloodline was an awesome color.

I read somewhere earlier that he is indeed retiring.

Thanks for the kind welcome folks. Found a lot of great info on here already, some i had forgotton and some i would never have imagined (Alabama rig)lol. My son and i jumped right back into bass fishing by fishing a local tourny last weekend. Yep we finished in last place BUT, we did catch a couple of fish. Had a blast. Thanks again.

Hey ya'll, Just found this great site and had to join. I am 52 yrs old and from the Lowcountry of South Carolina. I learned to love largemouth bass fishing from my uncle in Palatka Fla. when i was just a young kid. I was addicted to the sport and when i got to be in my late teens i joined a bass club near my home. Eventually i bought my own bass boat and became what i considered a pretty fair hand at catching bass. Then came the wife and then the babies started arriving and eventually i was forced to sell my beloved boat. After that my bass fishing kind of went by the wayside. Later i did buy another boat and got my son hooked on bass fishing. One of the benefits of living right on the coast of SC is the fact that some of the best inshore saltwater fishing in the country is available within a couple of miles from home and i started doing more of that type fishing than bass fishing. Although he was a good sport and went saltwater fishing with me whenever we got the chance, his heart wasn't in it. Now my son is out of college and has a great job and has informed me that we are now going to start back doing the type of fishing he loves the most, LARGEMOUTH BASS fishing. So now i have found a site where i can catch up on all these new fangled techniques. Looking fwd to relearning all the stuff i've forgotton.
