  3. so the past two times I've been out, i have been hammered by these knots that form in my spool when im casting. I'm using 10 lb power pro on a president spinning reel any ides?
  4. thx for the replies guys, it ended up being a mistake in my part. I put the roller clutch sleeve upside down so now the anti reverse is working and its even smoother whoops
  5. I just cleaned it and tore it all done to the shell, runs much better now, but for the life of me I cant get the anti reverse to work again. I tried taking it apart again and putting it back together, and then i made sure the notch was lined up with the little lever thing.... HELP!! Thanks Fishing1
  6. So when someones talking about fishing a reef, it is technically a hump or ridge?
  7. I hear people talking about these a lot especially in Minnesota, so is it just like a rock flat?
  8. Hey thanks guys. Glad its and easy fix
  9. This past year, my panfish rod has deveolped a few issues. I want to keep it as its a good rod and have used it for years, the rod tip has come out, thought I could maybe use some 5 min epoxy on it? second, one of the guides' finish is yellowing... Is this an issue
  10. This maybe one of those personal preference answers, but how should a setup feel if its balanced?
  11. Hey thanks guys, yeah I haven't decided what exactly to do yet, but if all else fails and I cant find the Elite tech I want, it sounds like the HMG is a good rod
  12. Sorry maybe should've clarified that I looking for the spinning version. But I'll be throwing from about 1/16 and up. Thanks Wapsi smallmouth
  13. Can anyone else attest to this. Cause if so that would be great
  14. Hey thanks guys, Yeah if the budget weren't so tight and my spinning rod wasn't busted I would definitely jump on that
  15. After hearing several good reviews about this series, I tried to go and find a med lt one, but it appears that they are discontinued or something? Is this true? And if so how does the HMG stack up to it? Thanks Wapsi smallmouth
  16. Only can talk about river smallies, but 1. Bigger. In my experience keeps little ones off you, and you might just get a big pike while your at it. 2. as its been said slower, I personally still haven't been able to do anything with soft plastics or jigs, but the cranks and top waters I throw are better fished slowly. 3.Put in the work. Take a good hike or drag your boat down some forgotten, barely reachable beach and get away from where everyone else is. Wapsi smallmouth.
  17. Thanks guys, where should I start to look for them in early summer-fall. And don't worry most lakes are iced up now so I won't be fishing
  18. Hey, i want to start getting into some lake largemouth when i can't get to my smallmouth rivers, what are some good lures to begin with. Its not a deep lake (60 feet, but it does thermocline at around 15) and even though its man made doesn't fluctuate except maybe just a few feet. No docks, lots of weed and some wood, and a good crayfish, and shad population. There is a 18 inch limit on these fish so there are some good ones out there. Thanks wapsi smallmouth
  19. oh i assumed that DSi and 2d was the same kinda cone, but just interpreted differently on the screen, but it is more detailed just smaller cone
  20. i noticed that other brands used it for down scanning so that might be nice even with the limited cone
  21. so you wouldn't really recommend a unit with those frequency ranges. Cause i noticed that humminbirds use those frequencies alot
  22. Ok that did clear things up and i have an understanding of what the whole 200 kHz thing, but every unit i look at has a like 83 and 200 or something like that. Is 455 any real advantage or have any use Thanks Wapsi smallmouth
  23. i do have a question though when it says Humminbird® PiranhaMax™ 175 Sonar Dimensions: Height - 6.5 in. Width - 3.87 in. Depth - 3.5 in. Display size: 4 in. Pixel count: 240 x 160 Display type: 256 Color TFT Frequency: Dual Beam - 200/455 kHZ Sonar max depth: Dual Beam - 600 ft. Transducer type: XNT-9-28-T Waterproof: Yes Power supply: 10-20 vDC Output power: Peak to peak - 1,600 watts RMS - 200 watts Warranty: 1 year limited Made in the USA Temperature reading can not be turned off. What does the frequency do and what's a good # for that along with when it says like 200/16° what does that mean
  24. Im looking for a fish finder for my kayak and i have never bought one before and i have no idea what i should be looking for. I don't want any down imaging or side just a simple fish finder under 120. I was looking at the pmax 175 and the lowrance x-4 pro so if anyone has an opinion on these that would be great. Thanks Wapsi smallmouth
