First, I want to say I've been having amazing luck with flukes in the last 2 weeks. Not only am I catching fish regularly, but they are of nice size as well! I've been using zoom super flukes, and of course, am pretty happy with them. I was wondering, though, does it get any better? Are there any other flukes out there with even a little better action? For example, i recently read an article about the caffeine shad by strike king. I'm just looking for input, because my next bait order will include some new flukes for sure! Finally, is there a way to rig the fluke so it doesn't tear so easily? I'm using a 4/0 on the super fluke, and after every hook set, the nose of the fluke tears right in half because of the hook shank pulling through it. Any advice? Only thing I can think of is trying screw locks.
  2. That was one thing I've been thinking about lately. Lets say I'm fishing a texas rigged worm on braid. Most of the braid floats, so when I move the worm, does its action differ from the action I would get with a sinking line? I think about this when fishing often and it throws me off a bit.
  3. Hey all, I had a few questions regarding braid usage vs fluorocarbon. I absolutely love the sensitivity I get from braid, and currently use it on all my reels. However, sometimes I feel like I shouldn't, because of the fact that it floats. So, I was wondering, when shouldn't I use braid, and switch to fluoro instead? Is there a "normal" lb braid that is typical for certain techniques. Ive been using 12lb equivalent, simply because I was afraid anything lower would be hard to throw since it was my first time trying braid. I don't flip or pitch, because I'm usually fishing from shore, or a boat I can't stand up and move on. Any advice you guys give I will appreciate Thanks
  4. Im in the market for a crankbait rod, and noticed that a lot of companies have poles labeled for cranking. However, I've also noticed that they are certain power/top ratings, such as Med-Hvy/Mod-Fast. So, are these specific rods any different from any other rod rated the same? For example, the Kistler Z-Bone LE 7'3" is Med-Hvy/Mod-Fast, but isn't specifically labeled as a cranking rod. Am I on the right track here, that this particular rod would be in fact ideal for crankbaits?
  5. Weird. Those and what looks like tilapia seem rampant in one of the two lakes. I'd like to snag a tilapia and blacken it lol
  6. Caught this today totally randomly... In our backyard in west palm beach!!!
  7. Had one for about two weeks. 5 eyes popped off the blank on a cast. Returned and got an Abu Garcia Veritas which has done me great so far
  8. Hey all, I had a question about soft swimbait rigging. Since I started to fish Skinny Dippers, I've always used a keel weighted hook. This gave the desired back and forth wobble and tail action. I wanted to get the bait up more in the water column and be able to fish it slower, so I decided to try just an EWG 4/0 hook on it. As I started to fish it, I noticed the action is totally wrong. It simply rolls in the water instead of swimming, even at the slowest speeds. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  9. I had been having very little luck since spawning started. The weather here in FL has been fluctuating from cool to hot and back again several times in a matter of weeks. Finally, I took my grandfather out to the lake on his last day down here in FL. He had been wanting to catch a few before he left, but hadn't been able to do. I walked the shore for a few minutes, and spotted a huge school of bass looking to feed. I had a thought: a fluke! I pulled out my pearl white zoom super fluke, and proceeded to catch 2 4lbers and 8 more 1-2 lbers in about 30 mins. My grandfather also caught his PB and one other! It was awesome! Sadly, I was too excited to slow down and take any pictures lol
  10. Hey all, Wondering if anyone's had any experience with the Hidden Valley Tackle custom painted jerk (vision 110 style) or any of the other cranks for that matter? A few caught my eye today and wanted to see if anyone had any opinions or feedback on them.
  11. The Lamiglas has a fast tip. Not sure about that
  12. I noticed that one as well, but wasn't sure about the mod-fast taper.
  13. Hey guys, Looking for a MH/Moderate rod for trebles and am looking for some suggestions in the $100ish range? I've been looking at the Abu Garcia vendetta but I'm not sure
  14. IMHO, you both are agreeing. The way the copyright statement is read in the text book, the: "particular expression of an idea" is a material representation. Using given examples, a drawing is a representation of said idea.

Hey all, After entering the state vs state on the forums today, I started thinking about accurate weight. I have a cheapo spring weight, but from the different objects I've tried to weigh it seemed close at best. Are there any affordable scales? I mean, I would love to have a boga, but the price of those is just too high for me at the moment. What about the $30-40 replica versions? If anyone has experience with them I'd appreciate the feedback! Thanks!
  16. Another tip, depending on water clarity and where you may live, is to simply look for spawning activity. Here in FL, i can clearly see beds as I walk the shallows around a lake, some with fish that I haven't spooked away. This requires no fishing whatsoever. Also, seeing fry along the edges that get spooked from your shadow is a very good indication of life
  17. I'm in. Lets do it!!
  18. WOW! Those things look awesome. I'm in for a few. Love buzzbaits
  19. One thing you are overlooking is that bass don't perceive the baits color by color as a human would. They see the bait as a whole, the colors blend and contrast with each other to appear as something else entirely. The orange combined with the green probably looks more brown, or even yellowish to a bass. Also, lots of fish have chartreuse glints in their tails/scales that shine in the sunlight.
  20. I agree that you need to be confident in baits, but I believe to be fully confident in a bait you need a color or a few colors you are happy fishing with. For example, I'm more confident in a bream yum dinger than any of their other colors!
  21. Awesome fish!! Grats on the win
  22. Hey all, What are your confidence colors on certain baits? I'll go first: Most Plastics: Mixtures of green/red, black and clear Buzzbait: black Spinners: White Frogs: black/chart with defined white markings Walkers: Bone Cranks: Shiner colors Jigs: None Jerkbaits: None I really stink at jigs and jerks lol
  23. Thanks guys. I think I'll be getting a MH/M once I can find a decent deal I currently throw a Lews SS almost exclusively, but am going to be getting a Lews TP SS here very soon for the new pole!
  24. I was thinking moderate action for all things treble hook. I think I remember roadwarrior saying as such a while back.
  25. I currently have a 7" MH/F veritas casting, and a 7" ML/F st croix triumph spinning setups. Looking to get 1 more casting setup. Should I get a M/M or a MH/M?
