  1. My vote is for the Lews. I use Lews myself and they are by far the best reel ive thrown. For the money, I'd just upgrade to the Tourney Pro from eBay instead of a regular tourney
  2. Not that I've noticed, of course theres always a chance. To get the desired action its necessary to have 1 split ring, or a welded ring hook, line tied above, and weight attached below with another split ring. Nothing should be tied to the hook.
  3. I made one a few weeks ago and fished it a few times with great success. Your bait gets some awesome action on the bottom. For a few bucks worth of materials I would say everyone should try it
  4. Fished it a bit more today. A bass smashed it and bent it so I had realign it. Now at anything but barely planning speeds it nearly flips sideways >.> I love the sound it makes. I wonder if there's any better versions of this bait out there? I got the 3/8oz version.
  5. For buzz frogs I like white with some chartreuse in it. The white really helps you to keep your eye on it. Once it disappears after a hit, set the hook! Skinny Dippers are probably the most amazing florida bass bait I've fished. I also like the gambler big ez's that were mentioned above. Had some OK luck with the florida five-o color
  6. Anyone know if this bait is intended to run tilted to one side? First time I threw it it was running at about a 45 degree angle, instead of 90. I tried bending the arms left, then right and this just made the bait run flat. I missed 2 hookups from fish attacking the blade, which isn't directly above the hook because of the angle its clacking against the water. Added a trailer hook, no change in how it ran.

Killing them in Florida with skinny dippers and gambler big ez's
  8. Tournament SS's are only $150 at TW, Tournament Pro's, however, are $199.
  9. Palm Beach Plantation!
  10. Fluorocarbon leaders are usually optional, but can work in your favor if you think you are fishing spooked or highly pressured fish. Just don't get colored fluoro, it weakens the line. The exception is if you are fishing hi-vis line, then I would always suggest a leader of fluoro.
  11. I have a Lews SS that i use almost exclusively. Its only one of two bc's I've owned, the other being an Okuma Cayenne. However, id prefer the SS 100 times out of a 100. I can throw light baits with it fairly well. What I like most, though, is the ergonomics. My thumb just feels so natural on that spool, its incredible. Easy to palm and I have small fingers.
  12. Pick up a pfleuger president spinning reel. It can be had for 35-50 and is by far the best spinning reel for the price. Also, for spinnerbaits, go with a gold or silver blade, tandem mixture with a willow, white skirt about 3/4 oz. make sure the blade spins long before buying. Also, maybe some swim baits? REaction innovations skinny dipper are a MUST in my bag
  13. Hey all, Been doing some searching, and was wondering if anyone knew of any tournaments in the PBC area that shoreliners could participate in? I don't have a boat, though, I wish I did! Thanks for the info!
  14. Thanks again guys for all the advice and encouragement. I really like to throw jerkbaits but have very little success with them. I'll definitely be giving the water visibility test a shot ASAP.
  15. Thanks for the advice. Im on the fence about getting one because I know they are terrible for the water I fish (I cant find a clear lake anywhere). But I still want one lol.
  16. Hey all, Thinking about picking up a Spro McStick, and was wondering which color would be good for very stained, muddy and dark water. Heres the best picture I've got of the water:
  17. Considering clear water I would attempt to use more natural colored baits, and if its bright, something more brilliant, such as chartreuse, silver and gold.
  18. Headed back to Dick's today. Told them about it, and they let me replace it with anything of equivalent value. Picked up the 7'0 MH veritas
  19. Bad shad/green skinny dipper with a 1/8oz 4/0 spring lock gamakatsu hook
  20. Bought a W&M Skeet Reese 7"2 MHF jig/worm rod not eve a month ago. Micro guide version. Today I was throwing around a skinny dipper. All of a sudden a huge cracking noise happens! 4 eyes ripped off of the blank!! Woe is me.
  21. Weighed in at a bit over 5.
  22. Hey all, I currently use a 6.4:1 Lews SS. Going to be setting up a second rod with a Lews TP and was wondering what you all would suggest as far as ratios goes. My two rods are a MHF and a MF. I mostly fish lipless cranks, swimbaits, senkos and the occasional frog. Should I just get another 6.4? I'm not sure what would be the best for what I fish. I have a spinner I use for light finesse presentations.
  23. I've also used a few packs of 7.5" ribbontails. For whatever reason, my home lake's bass don't dig tailed worms. I even cut one of the tails off before to test the theory, and started catching when I wasn't before! Very weird. However, they are still great plastics when I've used them elsewhere.
  24. Well I decided to get it. Fits in the bed of the truck, trolling motor works fine. Had to buy a battery, a charger, and and oar. Took it out with two diff guys, one almost 300 lbs and it floated fine even at full trolling speed. Can't beat it for the money I paid!
