  1. Spinning is definetely useful and downright necessary for some of my techniques. But I gotta say the feel of a nice, light, balanced BC is much more enjoyable to use in my hands.
  2. Just a few ideas Ive used. Chances are these fish arent seeing many cranks, so they could be dynamite in that area. -Thicker diameter line. -Longer rod, held high. -Determine which hook will hang in the "middle" or straight down on your trebles and cut it. You can upsize the hook if you like. -I've played with a few crank's bills to make them run shallower. Turned the Bagley monster shad into a wicked wake bait. You can heat the bill and bend downward more, or even shorten it by cutting some off. Obviously this can effect the action of the bait. Good, bad, or simply different. Thats up to you. Get a bass pro catalog out and referance the bills on other cranks.
  3. Can you connect them? Sure. For what its worth Ive been happy with 30lb stealth spooled on a couple reels. Got it on clearance a few years back and Ive been suprised at how good it is..
  4. Don't assume everyone on the internet is truthful...
  5. Over 80 8+lbers on the flash minnow. LOL okay Bill Siementel.
  6. Imo some are worth it, some not so much. A few that I can't live without. Sammy 95 in Ms American shad (small mouth crack) the RC cranks pointers A few that I wont spend the money on again flash minnow bevy shad Gunfish. A lot of ppl love them but there are better baits of this style IMO. (Rico suave)
  7. They work fine. My advice however is if your looking for numbers, the rebel crickhoppers the small popper you want. Change the hooks, they'll straighten out on a good fish.
  8. Great assesment. Spots ride just a bit higher in the water than traps. Theres a bank fishing only lake I frequent that has a certain 3' flat. On a super long cast traps bog down in the millfoil too much. The spots catch fish that id miss on other baits.
  9. X2 on the swamp donkey. I have one with melted legs that caught some toads. The vixen is currently being made by paycheck baits as the repo man FYI.
  10. I along with a few buddies own several of the frogs. Have tried them manytimes on lakes where bass were on a insane frog bite and nothing. They look sweet in the water but that doesnt translate into bites for me. The craws look cool but i decided against them since it looks like I'd lose it within 10 minutes on the river here.
  11. Buzzbaits Sammie 95's in MS American shad x walk 14 in glass ghost Spooks Bronze eye frog zeta bait tadpole ima big stick torpedos
  12. Yeap they'll do fine. I gotta 7-8 year old fenwick venture that has em. Never used anything but braid on that rod. No issues
  13. The new luckycraft kelly jordan crank is a great bait. Casts better than alot of shallow flat baits too.
  14. I like a couple gulp products, but the sinkin minnow aint one of them. No action at all, stiff ass a 10 day old french fry.
  15. Keep an eye on your line at all times. Try to get a idea of what it feels like to move or lift the jig. Stick with it, soon it'll become a very, very valueable tool your arsenal.
  16. If your set on a round reel and are going to put money into tuning it, why not just get a calcutta?
  17. Absolutely. I use the lighter jigs more due to the vegetation around here coating the bottom like a carpet. A horizontal presentation with over 3/8 is no beuno once they thicken. Head design of the jig has a lot to do with it.
  18. Lighter weights don't bury down in the junk as much.
  19. I tend to go lighter on texas rigs than jigs. Its rare that I'll use more than 1/8 on a T rig. Jigs 3/8 is my all around jig. Deeper water I'll go up to 3/4, certain ponds and streams I'll drop down to 1/8.
  20. Great value. I netted a 10.4lbr for a friend who hooked it on the 2.5

Due to the compression on the motors you need 93 or so octane. Elavation can have an effect on that. The MDX owners on a forum I checked claimed they do in fact ping and get considerably less economy on the lower test stuff. I used to own a few preludes that reccomended mid grade, and would do okay on 87. But the MDX doesnt seem to be the case.
  22. I've done tons of different stuff. sanded baits, finger nail polish, bigger eyes, etc. Another thing that works suprisingly well is put a 5'' stick bait in a bag of gulp. Over time it'll be 10'' and reek of Gulp!

I have been on the lookout but people seem to keep them until they have a ton of miles round here. One with decent mileage is overpriced. Theres a few on CL From 00-02 for 10-12k. I know their good trucks but man its gonna be 15 years old when paid for, plus 10k on a vehicle that old aint no joke.

Central Va. Funny u should mention it, but the region does seem to make a difference. I noticed when I was building sites in WV 4x4's are forsale cheap everywhere. Here not so much. I dont really have the time to travel though, gotta full plate with work, school, and ministry stuff.
