  1. Customer service is lacking at Okuma. I emailed twice no answer finally called. They said accidental breaks you have to pay full price for a new rod unlike Dobyns or Fenwick. But if the rod does break while fishing the one im looking at has a limited lifetime warranty. Plus I pay 20 for shipping if broke while fishing. I think Dobyns Champion is the way to go. Idk I like the look of the Okuma... But Ive accidentally broke a rod before.
  2. Yeah hm85 speed stick was what I was looking at as well as okuma concept rod.
  3. Found two more rods to throw in mix. Okuma concept and lews hm85 speed stick. Are these decent and any issues with warranties. If you havnt noticed im taking my time and not compulsive buying.
  4. Roadwarrior have you tried this rod? Just looked at this and helios. Both look good nothing about warranty on website but someone said accidentally broke and was replaced for shipping costs. Thanks for the link.
  5. Im trying to use 3 factors in picking a medium heavy or medium rod. Customer reviews, price, and warranty. I cant go to a store and try the three im looking at out.... Here are the ones I like Fenwick either elite tech bass (brand new) or aetos Aetos has some negative comments, the warranty seems decent, accidental break you send in after pics and they assess the damage and quote you St Croix Avid all great comments, the warranty is more to replace the rod 75$ Dobyns Saavy all great comments, no questions asked replacement with 60$ The st croix and dobyns saavy all sound promising but the Fenwicks look good and have relatively good reviews. My price range would be 150-200. Spinning rod for jerkbaits, trigs, and jigs. If you have one of the three I would like feedback please.
  6. Anyone interested in fishing with me I m a river beater. No boat.
  7. So if im using jerkbaits on a river bank I should be using a baitcaster and not spinning?
  8. I m leaning towards 7ft medium fast. I want to use for jerkbaits, cranks, spinners and wacky or trigged worms.
  9. Which would be better? Aetos by fenwick or st croix avid?
  10. I fish river from backs. Im cautious walking through. I like 1 piece. Just looked at lews custom speed stick as well.
  11. So im having a hard time picking out a rod. I would like medium to medium heavy spinning. 7-7 6. I mostly catch smallies and largemouth, sometimes northern. I like the st croix premier, mojo bass, fenwick smallie. I mainly use texas rig, wack worms, topwater and jerkbaits. I was looking under 150 dollars.
  12. Thanks for the info. I ll have to convince my wife to let me go sometime. Thanks everyone for the kind welcome.
  13. I love using wacky rigged worms like senkos that are blue/black or have purple fleck. These seem to work good. If you d like to catch more, fish where there is alot of cover. On a sunny day when there are pontoon boats with the covers on still, fish the wacky worm practice skipping under docks and under these boats. The reason why I say the ones with the covers on is because they never left the dock that day, maybe longer. I like using texas rigged green curl tail worms like powerbait for heavy deep cover.
  14. I live technically in the Northeast.... I have found one club, but if I don t make it to one of the three meetings by March on a weeknight I can t join. I don t have a boat. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other clubs here?
  15. I live about an hour or so away from Oshkosh. I don t have a boat so fishing inland lakes are kind of hard for me. Where in Door County would you recommend?
  16. Hey. The river is actually called the Sheboygan River.
  17. I am from Wisconsin. I just joined. I fish mainly the 75 mile river here with very little success. I started fishing about 5 years ago. I really fish for bass. Once in a while I ll fish the harbor for salmon. I have two girls and am married.
