  1. Never used one but remember people always write bad reviews when their upset but rarely write them when content. I usually judge reviews on how many bad reviews there are and if they're a common complaint.
  2. X3 on the Citica...but if you're going very inexpensive, look for a daiwa strike force. These are simple to use but I'd be suprised if it lasted more than a season. Or you just upgrade your reel and hand her down yours.
  3. Disclaimer: I'm not familiar with this river but... -look for rocks (smallies love crayfish) -current -flats (especially in the morning) -they have good eyesight, clear water seems to be better. I have good luck with tubes, jerks baits, and spinners. Droppshotting may be tough from the bank. Winter is tough for bass fishing. Not that you can't catch them (I tend to catch bigger fish in the winter than any other season but far fewer in numbers). Keep at it. Some of the most fun fish to catch.
  4. Tubes...not the most exciting lure but I always feel I can get a bite.
  5. Thanks guys...I can't wait.
  6. I'm going to be in naples next weekend and will have the opportunity to fish 1 day. Any advice of where to go? Should I make the journey to okeechobee? Is there any peacock fishing close by? Any recommendations on lure selection or what the bass are relating to? Any help will be much appreciated.
  7. Nice. Those are solid fish for around here.
  8. Crazy legs chigger crawl or a roadkill 4" tube.
  9. I don't know the technical term for it but I love the reel seats on the new Fenwick HMG.
  10. I use 4/0 ewg with 4" venom tubes t-rigged. My favorite lure.
  11. Sounds like a heck a fight.
  12. Black 1/2 jig with strike king chunk. Using larger lures tend to bring larger fish (though not always). Try some jigs, 4" tubes, creatures baits, or some swim baits. Those usually tend to produce larger fish. Crickhoppers are great lures but the dinks seem to get at them before the big ones can even get a bead on it.
  13. Tackle tour does a good review of the type R and (in their opinion) they seem to think there is little difference between the two. I saved myself the $50 and haven't fished the type R but can say I like the tatula a lot.
  14. Don't know where in Indy you are, but there's a guy who runs reel service in west Harrison. I can't remember his number off hand but I'll be past his place this weekend and can get the number if that's close enough to you. Just let me know.
  15. I was there 2 Sundays ago and got 3. Saw some in the 5-7 lbs range right up on shore but they spooked too easily.
  16. Depending on the type of spray gun you're using it will work. I like to use a very small bottom feed gun designed for cans of compressed air (which gets very expensive very quickly). However, I've seen guys rig those pancake compressors to accommodate that type of gun too.
  17. Thanks! I tried many times throughout December and gave up in early January. It'd be nice to use the warranty.
  18. I broke a 7ft MH fast wild black over the winter and want to repair it (since trying to contact e21 is impossible). I broke it 2 1/2" from the tip so if I attach the replacement tip it would be about 1 1/4" from the first guide. My question is, should I take off the 1 1/4" so the new tip would be better spaced with the guides or should I just attach the new tip at the break?
  19. Thats I what I want to hear. Distance is paramount to me fishing pressured waters with lighter weight lures
  20. I had no intention of starting a brand debate. Lord knows there are plenty of those on this forum. The t-wing system was what clinched the sale for me. Gimmick...maybe? But less friction seems to make sense to me. I wish I could deny that 90% of my reels are shimano but I can't. I went with the intention of picking up another curado but they were sold out and I already traded in the reel at bps. I'd hate to go back there since that is where the bait monkey lives and my wife hates that monkey so I was hoping you guys would tell me that this reel would satisfy a fanboy like myself.
  21. I bought one this week and am debating taking it back. Seems to cast well but I'm not wild about the star and it doesn't palm as well as some of my other reels. I keep thinking about dropping an extra $50 and getting another chronarch E. Thoughts?
  22. I agree with chrisaw...bet a lure is obstructing it. I've seen this many times before.
  23. Hey guys, I'm in Orlando for the next couple of days and am hoping somebody can point me in the right direction for some shore bass fishing (or snakeheads...never caught one of those...if they're here). The wife agreed to grant me a fishing pass for one morning and I'm chomping at the bit. There seems to be a pond or lake around every corner but I'm not trying to leave Florida with a ticket for trespassing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  24. Finally got around to upgrading the drag on my chronarch 200e7 and cannot get the drive gear off. I don't understand. I've done this 3 other times with 2 citicas and a carbon lite with no issues. Advice?...
