  1. Because the auto industry doesn't uses them?
  2. I'll give Bill my vote too. Is it possible? I think I've been watching him for three decades??? OMG His show is a nice way to kick back and unwind. Like his music too.....
  3. I've gone through this last year; big box, hardwares, & auto stores don't carry 4 amp. The only place I could find them was on-line. When my live well pumps were blowing fuses, I'd open the pump to find small bits of gravel jamming the impeller; I guess I was fishing too shallow So much for being a river rat.

LOL, I just read the comic. If Trail didn't find the kid, a good Attorney would get both Catfish and Bassy off on circumstantial evidence; saying Catfish was just out for a swim and no one saw him hook the fish on Bassy's line; and then he would sue Trail for assaulting Catfish. But Trail found the Kid,, so he's safe. I would have bet money they would have drug this plot out for months. BTW, who's Cherry?
  6. I just had three Interstates installed while the boat was in the shop, I specifically asked for batteries manufactured in 2013; and the shop owner knows how much bass anglers rely on their batteries and agreed to order fresh ones other than what he had on hand. After I got the boat home I pulled the batteries for inspection and testing, and I'm glad I did ! Someone is trying to pass off an old battery as new and I caught it. The guy at the shop said he installed what the Interstate distributer delivered, but he's re-ordering a replacement. As you can see in the pic's, someone re-branded the date code over top of the original code; and then modified the Mfg. code on the side of the battery; trying to pass off a 2012 battery as a 2013. Not cool at all. This is not a recharge stamp or sticker like normal, they actually destroyed the original date info. Interstate Corporate is getting a nasty email........ Here's the data on the batteries: BCI Grp #: 29M Interstate Type: SRM-29 Deep Cycle CCA: 675 MCA: 845 RC: 210 (Min. @ 25A) Warranty (Mo.): 30 Hrs. @ Ampere Load 21 @5; 6.4 @ 15; 3.4 @ 25 Dimensions (in.) L: 13; W: 6-3/4; H: 10 Weight: 61 (lbs) Terminal : Auto/Stud posts BCI Grp #: 27M Interstate Type: 27M-XHD Cranking CCA: 800 MCA: 1000 RC: 180 (Min. @ 25A) Warranty (Mo.): 24 Hrs. @ Ampere Load 21 @5; 6.4 @ 15; 3.4 @ 25 Dimensions (in.) L: 12.75; W: 6.75; H: 9.5 Weight: 54 (lbs) Terminal : Auto/Stud posts BTW, I had ten (10) years on my old cranking battery

    LOL......
  8. You got that right, it was. I went out on 3/10 to Aquia Harbor; the weather was great but the water all through Aquia was murky, and I could not buy a bite. At some point my alternator went out and then the fun started, I drained my cranking battery and a deep cycle before I got to the launch. I can't recall if I posted that story or not; it's still on going.
  9. Look for a Luster Leaf PCPS50 Pro-catch Plus, it's electronic, you can find a thermocline with it.
  10. What !! Is that per Pt., Qt. or Gal ? Who cares, where do I sign up, that's almost a weeks worth of fuel for the boat..
  11. Well, it took you long enough, I was getting tired of waiting to find out what it ment.
  12. Don't forget the part about living in a hole in the ground.
  13. That's a strange effect; it's like an animated cartoon of an engine just chugging along happy to be back on the water.
  14. WOW, you've done a remarkable job. Saw the vid clip. What up with the engine power head moving around? Is that an optical illusion???
  15. LOL, I think you nailed it; he has his better moments, but INHO his intro music and barbed wire facade is all part of the "in your face" style that the younger crowd seems to love these days. Those of us over 50 remember the more relaxing side of fishing shows when we could kick back, put our feet up, and unwind from the weeks BS at work by watching Hank, Bill, and the gang for a while. Now, everyone wants to emulate the tournament angler, the run-and-gun excitement and challenge that the newer fishing shows bring to the sport. As for the manufactures, they have always focused on the more impulsive buyer that's looking for that secret edge that will make up for their inexperience; whereas the older crowd have settled into their routine based on their experience and are less prone to inpulsive purchases of new colors or styles of baits. I've started watching Zona for a while, maybe I'm wrong about his style and need to break out of my comfort Zone.
  16. Anyone know of an iphone app that lets you track temps in your area over a period of time. At one time I tracked daily high and lows with Excel to see if I could relate the data to actual water temps but there appeared to be other factors missing. It was useful as a trending tool.
  17. Yes it is possible, I've done it with some success, but I can't tell you the steps in detail just off hand, I'll have to go do it and record the steps for you. But basically, you select the topo area with a box, then you move it to GE. You can also select how strong the topo layer appears on the GE image. EDIT: If you have NavPlanner 2, go to "Help" - "Contents" - "Google Earth Plug in" for directions. This plug-in is probably proprietary to NavPlanner 2, and may be different in other programs, if available at all. Also, go to GE "Help" and look for "overlay" I think between GE Help and NavPlanner 2 Help they will give you the steps necessary to do a overlay..
  18. I took Fishing Rhino up on his suggestion to get NavPlanner 2 (Santa brought it to me for Christmas) and I've been working with it since. I've figured how to transfer wanted data from Nav 2 to other devices, and to GE. That got me into using GE as the focal point of my data collection from other sources as well. Here's a screen shot of a cove I fish and some nice Ballast Rock piles that attract fish. Seeing it on GE helps me relate to the actual location when I get there, and I up-load them inti my Lowrance as well. The historical image slider in the upper left of the screen has been very helpful to uncover structure like the old wharf above that isn't visible in all images of a tidal river.
  19. If so, how is it and it's features useful to you. I'm looking to see if I can learn any new tips, and maybe I can share some I've found with you. I've spent the last three months playing with new navigational software, my GPS units, and Google Earth (GE) to see how to maximize the synergy among them. In the process I've learned more about my home waters, which I thought I knew. I've also found there is more to GE than meets the eye, so to speak. By utilizing way-points, labels, and a organized file structure within "My Places" it's possible to collect significant amounts of data, save and recall it at will, and share it with other devices for use on the road or water. Here's a sample of a high altitude view with boating tracks, place names, and way-points for different subjects. (click on the pic to enlarge it) Here is a new fishing spot (an old shipping wharf) I found looking at historical imagery; I can't Begin to imagine how many times I've gone past this spot and never saw it. I've placed it on my list of places to try on one of my trips.
  20. Yes it will...... But I wish I could be out on the water today, appointments prevent me; I've found that fishing in a snow fall is one of the most relaxing events I've ever experienced. The snow not only limits visibility, it also limits sound and it can be deathly quiet; and usually there's little or no wind so the water is glass smooth; so far, I've had the water all to myself. Properly dressed in a good rain suit, it's easy to stay warm; the only problem I've experienced was the deck getting a little slippery, and navigating with old style electronics. I'm setting here looking out on a backyard that is totally white with a gentle snowfall, and my cabin fever is out of control because of a d**n appointment...
  21. I look to Nature to tell me when Spring is coming; and Yes it will....... The jonquils are blooming, the Maple Tree leaf buds are popping their jackets, and the tree frogs are out doing their mating sounds. Next thing you know and the waters will be filled with idiots on their PWC buzzing around, and power yachts & sail boats will be everywhere. So enjoy a quite day on the water while you can. Spring is a coming!! Are you ready???
  22. There's also a mess of jokes on another thread called "Jokes - Let's have some fun" at http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/99492-jokes-lets-have-some-fun/ Here's one a friend sent me in an email; I hope no one takes offense. THE OFFICIAL TEXAS SHERIFF EXAM A young Texan grew up wanting to be a lawman. He grew up big, 6' 2", strong as a longhorn, and fast as mustang. He could shoot a bottle cap tossed in the air at 40 paces. When he finally came of age, he applied to where he had only dreamed of working: the West Texas Sheriff's Department. After a series of tests and interviews, the Chief Deputy finally called him into his office for the young man's last interview. The Chief Deputy said, "You're a big strong kid and you can really shoot. So far your qualifications all look good, but we have, what you might call, an "Attitude Suitability Test", that you must take before you can be accepted. We just don't let anyone carry our badge, son." Then, sliding a service pistol and a box of ammo across the desk, the Chief said, "Take this pistol and go out and shoot: six illegal aliens, six lawyers, six meth dealers, six Muslim extremists, six Democrats, and a rabbit." "Why the rabbit?" queried the applicant. "You pass," said the Chief Deputy. "When can you start?" I LOVE TEXAS
  23. Welcome to BR Ross, I think you'll enjoy it here. Look up the post on the VA Meet & Greet 2013 and plan on attending, it'll be a great way to meet some local members. Here's a link to the M&G http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/111307-meet-and-greet-on-the-potomac-august-24th-and-25th/ Cheers
  24. My DVR recorded the first Zona's Awesome Fishing Show; IMHO, he needs to rework his intro music. But I did save the recorded show for a second viewing, so that says something positive. The show I got was with Jerry McKinnis who had the show "Fishing Hole" many years back. WOW, did that bring back old memories. I found it interesting listening to him talk about how he found the Fishing Hole Show so calming and a great way to unwind & start the weekend; and how he loved it's music; I hope he does steal Jerry's music. And I laughed out loud when Jerry told him to "shut up and fish"........
