Just thought Id share an update on some of the mods Ive done. -added a U Bolt up front for the winch on a modified jon boat trailer - removeable casting deck held with a couple of wing nuts attached to a couple of post mounted into the rod holders - storage drawer underneath the deck - yak attack alum tracks to hold a battery box /fish finder - 45lb minkota bow mount trolling motor with extension handle - 50lb minkota transom mount trolling motor - dual 114 ah exide batteries - superstick shallow water anchor with mount - custom made seat bracket to add strength and height - carpet/plywood floor - tempress seat - bungee straps to hold rods down
  2. Been working on some new mods for my ol bass raider. Ill post up a full set of the completed project when finished, but here is a sneak peak.
  3. I added a 5" riser to the original bracket on mine, and it was starting to sag. I have talked to this guy multiple times about making a seat frame that was 5in taller, since he offers "engineering services",but he wont do it. Being just a few inches higher makes so much difference, that Im going to have a welder just make me some. Ill post pics when I get them.
  4. thats an awesome rudder! Did you buy it, or did you make it yourself? Very nice install too.
  5. I havnt tried it myself, but from what Ive read on other forums its a bad idea. Apparently it flakes off pretty easily, and just turns out to be more of a mess, than any protection.
  6. yeah, sure can.Its my first boat as well, and i love it. its especially good when lake levels are low, like they are here in west texas. Big boats cant get in when ramps are closed, but i can
  7. It just rides the seat tracks. I can move it back and forward as needed.
  8. Hey Bighoss, Ive got the pelican bass raider 10e (10 ft) Im about 6ft, 310, and Ill sometimes fish solo. Ive got TM, and battery in the rear, and I cam move my seat from back to front without any problems. I sit in the back when im steering, and ill move up to the front while fishing. Boat is very stable either way. I can even stand up and fish, no problems. Even with me, and a friend (about 200lbs), with battery, cooler, and all our gear, the boat is very stable. Still rides high in the water. Its an awesome boat !
  9. If you mount the trollling motor in the front, the back end can sway side to side, especially in the wind. A rudder on the rear will help it the boat straight. if you put your trolling motor in the back, then there is no need for one.
  10. Hello guys. I recently joined after finding this thread. Lots of great ideas and tips on the great boats. Im just about to begin construction on a movable "rack" to mount a fish finder. Im making it out or pvc pipe. imagine the seat bracket, with a plate mounted on top, instead of the seat. it will fit in the grooves the seat bracket fits into, and can slide forward and backward, depending on if im fishing alone, or with a buddy. ill post pics when im finished. it looks good in my mind..hope it looks good once its finished. lol
