The scorpion is one of the only jdm shimano reels i havent owned yet. Ive always been curious if under the cast control cap if its like a core where its just a spool bearing and a clip. Or if its like the curado with a spool bearing and spring. Im guessing its like the curado cause its the jdm version of it, but i could be wrong...

Do You Get More Satisfaction From Buying....
Reel guy here, love tinkering with them. Making them the absolute lightest and best that they can perform. With rods, I'm excited when I first get it, then it sits on the rack... lol. I do cherish picking up clean discontinued 1st gen cumaras & cumulus rods though Its funny but i downsized and I'm at 10 rods and 5 reels, I just pair my combos now for whatever place I'm going to fish now...

Baitcast Reel + Braid : When To Use ?
Thats a loaded question, lol. I typically use braid over any other line solely for how good it casts, line management, and sensitivity. Besides topwater, there are guys that crank with braid and also finesse fish. Ive got it down to, topwater/froggin - 30lb braid crankin - 12lb mono spinning finesse - 10lb braid/6lb flouro leader baitcasting finesse - 6lb flouro/mono

At What Price Point Do You...
I cap myself off at around $300 for rods. I really like the cumulus/cumara line and there typically well below that price. Id love to try a megabass someday, but im so happy with these rods that im not in that much of a rush... Now, when it comes to reels theres no budget, lol. If i see something i want ill sell a crapload of tackle, (like im doing right now) and get it

Thanks, the knobs are pretty cool, there a bit lighter then the septons. Being aluminum, sorta feels a little more connected with the reel...

Yep, was trying to get a casting rig to throw 1/16oz shakeyheads & flickshakes. I spooled it with 8lb flouroclear and was shocked the distance I was getting over the stock spool. I'm using a 6'5 cumulus but considering a 682 Recon. I'm gonna downsize to 6lb line, just have to figure out which one as I'm a braid guy... I've heard good things about pline CX, sunline super natural, and sufix elite/siege.

Spinning Setup Yes/no?
I came from only using spinning gear. Had 6 combos and was a diehard spinning guy. Then I started using baitcasters and slowly went that direction. Now I always have my one spinning combo on me, as well as my 4 other BC combos. I'm getting more & more into finesse fishing with casting gear but I'll always have at least one highend spinning combo. I'm still more accurate with my trusty old spinning rod...
