  1. you can never or should never blame a man for bettering himself. i applaud anyone that can get paid to wear/drink/drive/or use any product. he has to have some type of credibility to do that. he is also not a burden on the taxpayers. i'll take any sponsorship i can get. i can see it now..."there goes Wakeeater in his Tampon bass boat (so absorbent---it's impossble to sink), being pulled by his Summers Eve pickup."
  2. i have it also & am super impressed. it's virtually the same info as the card for my 1198. great quality & value at a fraction of the cost. i use my phone to scout out productive spots while at the house & leave the card in the boat. i tried to do this on my mac, but had one hell of a time trying to download & update it. the phone app is the way to go. i was at the bar talking to a buddy about possible hotspots while looking at them on the phone. that's worth $15 in my opinion.
  3. yup, when you're given a new boat each year it's not a hard decision.
  4. i grab a 1/4 ounce black/blue jig with a black&blue ragetail craw and start flipping docks. for both keeper & kicker.
  5. what's a barometer? just kidding!!!!
  6. tattoos are decoration. there is a whole different type of thing called scarification. that is something i don't understand. there are a lot of sins when considering the whole "the body is a temple" thing, such as being over weight, poor hygiene, & etc.
  7. i like Stork's response, "moon pies & glass cokes". keeping it old school, & southern too.
  8. BANANAS??? holy cow! that's like putting a live skunk in your boat....or the devil himself!
  9. i just got one myself. i'm waiting for good weather so i can install it. i know there are a lot of people against it, but i've seen a bunch of convincing posts for it. i figure it's worth a shot.
  10. a lot of men are creatures of habit. i definitely am. my first expensive reel was abu garcia. it was extremely smooth, casted far, & i never had an issue with it. so, about 80 % of the reels i own are abu. i have a few okumas & a couple of lew's. both of those are pretty good. i had bad luck years ago with ford company vehicles, so i've stuck with chevy. my driveway & garage is full of nothing but GM. when i go to caraba's i order the pork chop marsala, because it is incredible & always is....i'm never let down. it just boils down to being creatures of habit and what you have had good experiences with. why try something new when what you typically use/get is top notch?
  11. jigfishn10...i was thinking of that song when i saw this topic. i've tried it a couple of times, but didn't have the luck that guy had. every time he sang that song, he'd hook up. crazy! .......or good editing.
  12. hey oregon, my ETF buddy! this site's as cool if not better than our local one. it's good to hear people that aren't from the south speak well of it. most of the time it's the "hillbilly/redneck/dummy" stuff. have u been fishing lately? this rain is killing me!
  13. go with the costas. you won't be disappointed.
  14. the bananas superstition goes back to when the english ruled the seas @ 1700s. they had no refrigeration onboard, of course, and had to carry lots of fruits to prevent scurvy. bananas spoiled a lot faster & would cause other fruits & veggies to rot quicker, so they wouldn't allow them onboard. this is the most believable story i've heard about the origin of the "bad luck bananas". i served in the USN for 4 years (91-95) on a fast attack sub out of norfolk, va. i wasn't aware of this superstition back then, but i swear i can't remember ever having bananas on the boat! ps.. if you wanna talk about pranks on a boat, i could go on for days!
  15. this past fall i wore 'em out on a 1/4 ounce white chatterbait with a white paddle tail swimbait trailer. like TC235 said, they are awesome in water less than 3 feet deep. i fish them around docks & rocky banks. it's funny because i'm the opposite of tricitybassin, i cant catch squat on a sb! i think it's all about confidence. my confidence baits are sammies, chatterbaits, & flipping jigs. oh, and a shakey head.
  16. i've had the hb 597 di, the 898 si, & just bought the 1198 si. i love them! i was told that hb is more user-friendly, and that's what made my mind up. plus the fact that my fishing buddies had 'birds. i dont think you can go wrong with either. oh yeah......+1 for buying the biggest you can afford.
  17. last year Bill Dance came to the fishing show here in Knoxville. i had my 2 boys with me, 6 & 8 at the time. we waited in line for about 45 minutes to meet him. i wanted to get a picture of him with my kids. when we got to the table he immediately started asking them questions & joking with them. he took the pic with them and spent about 5 more minutes just talking with them about fishing& they really ate it up. he really impressed me with that. i assumed he would pose for a pic, & send us on our way. the man is a class act & it's a shame more pro athletes/celebrities don't act like him. any time i get the chance, i tell people about how awesome he was with my 2 wild men. i'm a fan for life.
  18. i've been blessed with two boys, ages 9 & 7. we fish here on the lake just about all year. i've taken them on some guided trips when we've gone to the beach. the trips are pricey, but the pictures are my desk are priceless to me. the oldest is more interested and can hang in there a lot longer when the bite is slow. the 7yr old is done when the bites stop. i was an avid wakeboarder for about ten years & didnt fish at all. a few years back the old knees started telling me to give them a rest & i started fishing a little. i used to fish with my dad when i was a kid. well, i caught the bug again. it's one of the few sports i can do the rest of my life & with my boys. the wakeboat is now second to the triton & i have a chronic case of the bait monkey.....but there are worse ways to blow money! i just wish my dad was still around to "set the hook" with us.
  19. i just signed up for the season pass. this show is great! i really like the concept & watching these guys under pressure is pretty sweet. i enjoy watching the flw shows as well, but with the anglers getting immediate updates on the leaderboard it makes it alot more exciting. i think MLF is gonna catch on big time.
  20. hank parker....he's a legend. he knows how to have a good time & is one heck of a fisherman. i could learn a ton from him.
  21. ok. it's different around here in Tn. most people are fishing for bass, crappie, & stripes. these shops stay on top of the trends. in my opinion, they would be crazy not to do so. can you imagine a shop not cashing in on last years "alabama rig" craze?
  22. Surveyor....that's disappointing, apparently he was too motivated to earn your business. you gave him a shot, go somewhere else
  23. hey guys..i get the bps & cabalela's catalogues too. i just wanted to take a second to suggest we support our local tackle shops. from my experience, they will get any item you want & price match. they just appreciate the opportunity. they're the guys with all of the local info & also sponsor the grassroots tourneys. the "big" stores are nice, but as a small business owner 2 years ago i made a resolution to do business with as many locally owned folks as possible. i'm not passing judgement, just offering something to consider next time that $20 is burning a hole in your pocket. ps....buy american & no, that's not my picture in my avatar. he's just one badass hombre i know
  24. i've had alot of success fishing the baby brush hog on a shakey head & hopping it in cover.
