  1. If you can't catch anything on a crankbait, I highly reccomend Bill Dance's YUM Dancin' Eel. I'm not serious, I'm kidding. Worst 3$ of my life.
  2. There is a cold snap that will occur tonight, just letting you all know. Perfect bass fishing, they will hug the shore & shallows in the morning to warm themselves up. Reccomend topwaters, spinnerbaits and floating rigs.
  3. I have 10 Bronson Mercury Reels, 1940's early 50's. All of which are on an Emmrod Packer.
  4. I had one of those ST. Croix Cat rods, the seat broke and it needs to be fixed. Good catfishing rod.
  5. cajun_flipper, kayak fishing isn't as hard as it may seem. Last year I hauled in over 500 bass well above the 3-4 pound mark. You gotta read the water. If it's windy, find where the wind direction is going and fish the shore in the direction of which the wind is blowing. If there are people around, study what they're doing, ask them what they are using, if they are using a spinnerbait and aren't catching anything, tie on a deep diver or a jig. Expand your tackle horizons, nothing beats a bass hitting a frog and fighting it in your kayak, use tubes with jig heads, get one of those crappie poles from Walmart, tie a tube on it with a Gamakatsu jig head and do some vertical jigging. Don't bother with a fish finder, what fun is that? Buy some fishing books, study fish behavior. Did you know that when it's raining, bass tend to stay 2-3ft under the water's surface? Excellent time to use shallow divers. Also, buy some big bass flies and do a drop shot rig with a fly connected. Experiment a little man. Good luck to you and I hope this helps.
  6. Here's my old line up. Strikeforce 100H/FLW TITAN 6'0" M Custom Shimano GT-X2200SQ/Ugly Stick Lite 7'0" M Daiwa Tournament SS/Falcon Original Spin 6'6" M 3 Pfluger Trion GX 7's/3 Berkley 6'0 M Cherrywoods. And a Shimano Sidestab 2000RB Duel handle on a Shimano Glass rod. Those are all my old fishing combos, they all see use. What are yours?
  7. ding ding! We have a winner!!
  8. For the traps, any Livetarget lipless crank and the Rattlin' Rapala. Ask me anything about cranks, I'll give ya an answer.
  9. Bomber A, Bandit 200, Rapala DT, Mann's 1-Minus, Livetarget Bluegill, Luhr Jensen Speed Trap, SPRO Little John Baby DD, Livetarget Gizzard Shad. I'm a crankbait freak.
  10. Agreed, I own the Evolve Species frog and it is by far better than Kopper's. I just decided to do a review on this frog because it's popular.
  11. I fish durning rainstorms all the time, especially in my kayak. I reccomend you get a STORM kicking minnow with a color that matches the baitfish in your area, and shad colored spinnerbaits, sexy shad works best.
  12. Sounds like a clutch wheel malfunction, lots of times on the wheel, the teeth will become worn. Goto mike's reel repair, grab schematics for your reel, find the clutch wheel part #, then enter that number on the search bar on Mike's reel repair's website.
  13. I've become very fond of Kopper's products, they aren't just made; they are engineered. This is my review of their hollow-bodied frog. The Live Target frog comes in 3 sizes and 8 color variations, which you probably already know but for the people that don't, I'm just putting it out there. What I like about this frog is that it is very durable, I can throw it in a mess of brush or vegetation and it won't tear or puncture. I usually cast it into the lillies and just walk it, but sometimes I'll burn it fast depending on where i'm fishing. I reccomend high visibility braid for this frog, 30-50lb test is perfect. I have had some problems with hook setting every once and a while but that's my problem, ( patience ). If I'm not mistaken the frog features a Gamakatsu frog hook so you'll hook the bass for sure. Overall this frog is very well built and it's highly reccomended by me and many other people, however the only thing I do not care for is that the rubber skirting can get annoying at times because they stick together after a while and can melt if you expose it to too much heat. The frog can also become faded and moldy, the colors won't be as vibrant so I reccomend cleaning it every 6 or so times you fish with it, only because mold and rust can form inside the frog and damage it from the inside out, you can put all your frogs in a bowl of hot water mixed with dawn dish soap & let em' soak and then rinse them off. Great Frog.
  14. That's gold right thar.
  15. Wow roadwarrior, thank you for taking the time to reply. I learn something new everyday on here.
  16. Why do tournaments not allow live bait? I'm just wondering because in all my years of fishing ( 12 so far ) I have never caught a bass on a night crawler, to this day it's something I try to accomplish but I can't seem to catch one one a worm. So why is it banned? I can haul in 400-600 bass a year on artificial baits, why don't they allow live baits?
  17. Dawia Strikeforce 100H, best reel I have so far, I own 5. Love them.
  18. 90$, I purchased an Ugly Stick Lite 7'0" 12-18lb medium action spinning rod as a back up for 40$, about 10 bomber cranks, 5 spinnerbaits, new line packs anddd that's it.
  19. I'm looking for a rod to go with a Lew's Tournament MG reel, I mostly fish with cranks. Rods on my list; Team Daiwa T, Quantum energy PT, Powell Diesel, Powell Diesel glass, Shimano Clarus Crankbait, Shimano Sellus Crankbait. I need help narrowing them down guys.
  20. I snagged a mechanic suit in the Potomac river, no big deal right? It was covered in blood.

  22. As you guys may know from my previous posts, I love Rapala and so with that said, here is my in depth review of the famous lipless crankbait. The Rattlin' Rapala is a sinking sub surface lipless crankbait, and unlike others of its type, it has a front action bearing. Most lipless crankbaits have rattles in the middle and rear of the bait which causes the lure to swim un-naturally. The RNR's rattle being based in the front cause the bait to swim with more a purpose, the nose is heavier than the rear. This swimming action entices bass to chase it more over the imitated baits. What I like about this crank is that the body comes in so many different sizes and colors, which makes it a must have for all bass fishermen. You can use a steady retrieve or the rip-n-stop technique, drop it down around structure or use it around weed beds. I prefer to use it along channels close to shore. The overall durability of this bait is far greater than the other Rapala lures since its made of plastic and not Balsa wood, if you hit it against a pylon it won't break. Hook set varies on the speed you're retrieving however I never have any problem, if you have problems, purchase sure-set treble hooks for the rear hook. Overall this lure is a must have in your fishing arsenal. It works great in all seasons and weather. Highly recommended.
