  1. Supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow morning, possibly in that range until 10-11. Uh, what?
  2. well. S'pose I and the others may have been wrong. Won't be the first time
  3. I wasn't the one that caught it. Either way, the photograph I posted was discussed quite a bit at another forum about the fish possibly being a hybrid. I know I've not seen many smallmouth like it.
  4. Just wanted to post a picture of an apparent smallmouth/largemouth hybrid caught in a tournament at havusu. One of the coolest looking fish I've seen.
  5. Help me guess the weight of my personal best in my avatar. I really think it was close to 8 pounds. (thread meant to be light hearted fun.) I know shimmy wants to weigh in on this and we were debating earlier on this very subject
  6. These threads are always the best. I think I'll start another one.
  7. I was fishing a lake the other day known to many locals as the "razor clam special". You have to constantly be checking your line for abrasion and knicks due to the zebra muscles. I'd been catching smaller fish for the bulk of the day when I stuck a good smallie. The fight was on and when I got the fish toward the boat she made the famous "I don't want in your boat" run. I'm sure you can guess what happened next. Made me sick to my stomach and I'm still reliving it as she would've gone well over 3 pounds, and could've been close to 4.
  8. Have any of you tried this? Here is a link showing the technique and a few videos demonstrating it. http://fishingsportshow.com/2013/duo-realis-spinbait-80/ I'd be interested to try it out..
  9. So, anyone been here or heard of this place? http://www.anglersparadise.biz/
  10. I guess I need to get around to fishing this lake...
  11. Speaking of straying, I really need to try some fresh walleye. Everyone says they're the stuff.
  12. I've been fishing the river. I might have to stop at the tackle store. Caught a number on a silver inline spinner, and half a zinker z on a jighead.
  13. It's not a giant (at least I don't think it is). But this is one of the most beautiful fish I've ever caught. Fish taken in Estes park Colorado on a spinning outfit with a finesse worm. Hoping to catch a bunch more! Anyone want to take a stab at identification? I'm guessing it's a brown maybe?
  14. Catching these in Estes park Colorado... On the ned rig!
  15. Yes, you didn't catch anything on the deep crank. But, you could be like me this last weekend. First fish I caught was an 8-10 lb flathead throwing a deep runner. Thought I had a new pb for sure... Then I proceeded to catch a bunch of dinky bass on it. At least I caught something
  16. 1. Catch a LMB over 8 pounds (Has not happened yet.) 2. Catch a SMB over 4 pounds (this has happened)
  17. We may have caught our big drum in the same spot. Mine was adjacent to a drop and raced straight into deeper water after being hooked. I can't stand those things...
  18. I figured it was a trout only area, but you can never be too sure if there might be some smallies running around in rivers or streams in the area. Thanks for the answer.
  19. I don't want to hear about drum and heartbreak. I hooked into a 8+ pound drum out at garnett cedar valley that made an incredible run (straight down). She fought like a giant bass... Thought I had me a new pb.
  20. Listen. I know for a fact, that the healthy specimen pictured was well above 7 pounds. I didn't have any scales on me, but my friend who is an expert at weighing fish (he is a certified marine biologist and lifts weights for a living) felt strongly that this was a 7 pound class fish. The picture was taken after release with an underwater go pro camera. Pictures obviously don't do the fish justice. She might be a little short, but more or less resembled a cinder block with fins.
  21. I like crankbaits, but I like jigs too so I should be ok.
  22. I was playing along with your joke
  23. Anyone know if there are any streams/small rivers or even small little lakes that contain smallmouth in the area? I'm going up there on vacation for a week and would love to try and hunt down some mountain smallies (if they even exist in the area).
  24. What this guy said.
