  1. Very well said guys! Thanks for the support. :-) I have since caught a 6.2 and am elated that the 10.0 is coming soon. The 6.2 was in a pond too but I felt great. :-)
  2. I know it! And it makes me mad because they (a handful of people have said the same and some fish occasionally) think they are on the Classic or something.
  3. So I told someone my biggest bass was 6.6 pounds. Naturally, they asked me where I got it. I told them in a pond. This person (who doesn't fish) told me that it doesn't count because ponds are stocked and very small. Anyone have a similar conversation? I have caught them on the water at the lakes too, but this one happened to be in a pond. :-/ Joe
  4. That makes sense. It could also snap the line too I would imagine. My biggest is a 6.6 bass (my profile pic to the left). She fought hard. I can't imagine 70 lbs!!!
  5. Are you all "making" the fight last that long? Or if you really wanted to could you simply reel it in as fast as the gear ratio allows? Or would doing that risk a line snap?
  6. That's awesome! I start to get antsy when I fight a good bass for over a minute. Lol
  7. I was watching one of my favorite shows, rivermonsters. Jeremy Wade had a special with his best catches. He fought a bull shark for 2 hrs 45 minutes. And a stingray for 3 hrs 10 minutes. That is long! Does anyone else have a similar battle with a fish that took a while? Joe
  8. I don't think there is too much fine print. If I like it, I keep it. If I don't, I send it back. As for the Internet, that is a useful tool. However with a library of DVDs I can go to the one I want to review or show others on easily. I keep these with my mags and other fishing studies.
  9. Well, I just watched the DVD. I really like it. This is my second BASS DVD (I got one free when I signed up for BASS) To each his own I guess. Good tips, good video of big bass, and interesting. I like it. :-)
  10. I turned down the NAFC subscription last year because of what you mentioned. However the BASS one seems not as "strong arm". The rep said I can cancel anytime and pay for the ones I want and send back the ones I don't. If I cancel, then all of the DVDs stop coming. I trust BASS. Just my opinion. Plus, I really like the DVD. I would love to cuatomize my library with BASS stuff. I will just see how it goes.
  11. Sticks, trees, grass, paper,......whoops! I thought it said what we accidentally catch. Lol
  12. Got a DVD in the mail from Bassmaster University today. 90 minutes of all kinda of techniques. It's free for this one. If I chose to join the BASS U program, I pay $12.95 up front. Then every month I get a new 90 minute DVD. If I don't like it, I send it back no charge. If I do, I pay $28 per DVD I decide to keep. Theoretically you can pay 12.95, get a DVD every month, watch it then send it back. I don't think I would "cheat the system". LOL. I may join. Anyone do this now or heard of it? The DVDs have some awesome stuff on them. At least this one does. 10 chapter DVD. Flipping and pitching, lipless, soft plastics, spinner bait, etc. Joe.
  13. I have a very similar spot here in NC that I use my kayak in. I use swim bait minnows all day and bring bass out if the water easily. Your situation may differ, but minnows are what I use. Occasionally a small spinnerbaits to attract some attention. Joe
  14. Wow! Lots of info WRB. Thanks! There really is a science to the swim bladder stuff. I'm looking up some web info too. :-)
  15. Grizzn has a point I agree with. Usually a dink will get one of my larger hooks in the eye or just below it. It's weird taking the hook out and the eye moves around. My friend was with me last summer on an eye hook bass and he said the left eye was looking at him and the other was making circles while I took out the hook. Strangeness. :-/ In any event the bigger fish usually keep it in their mouth safely. However as mentioned before, sometimes it happens. A smaller one may want that lure not knowing the hook size. I eye hooked a small crappie this year in the eye. :-(
  16. I searched on TV guide and it says "no listings within the next 14 days" Thanks for the help! :-)
  17. So how deep does a fish (mainly a bass) have to be to have its swim bladder either come out of its mouth or explode when you reel in too fast? I saw a grouper do this on a deep sea trip last year. Joe
  18. I looked all over the web on Animal Planet and TV Guide. When is it coming back on TV? I looked so many places and no avail. :-( Joe
