  1. Downeaster2010 That's right! It was a chain reaction. Lol
  2. I guess for me it was the one time, and learn from my mistakes. Even writing this thread I was reminiscing that day. :-/
  3. That sounds like you had a lot of "guessing and checking" to figure that out. Lol
  4. C'mon Jeff, Deadliest Catch is on your bucket list!!!!!!! ;-)
  5. I started out in the gulley and it was windy and rough too. I didn't watch the land or anything either. Stayed in there about 20 minutes then went on deck. I must have eaten 10 pepto chewables and also tried some Dramamine. It was too late at that point. :-( I clearly remember sitting down on the bench inside the gulley thinking to myself I will never eat again LOL
  6. Mine was two summers ago. Went on my first deep sea fishing trip with my dad, friend, and brother in law. We went down to Morehead city North Carolina. Three hour troll and a five hour fishing day and a three hour troll back. My dad told us three the night before to eat lightly and not overdo it. We all stayed in a hotel at the beach the night before and I was the rebellious one. I ate a huge dinner and stayed up late and had a huge breakfast. They all three were taking Dramamine and Bonine the night before and got to bed early. The morning of the trip we started the troll. 30 minutes into it I realized it was too late. For the entire 11 hour ordeal the three guys were enjoying catching fish. I was busy catching my vomit in small plastic bags in the gullie. There were 88 people on the boat and I was one of the 15 with seasickness. Not only was that my worst day ever fishing but it was the worst day of my life LOL. On the drive back home my dad politely said the words that I dreaded to hear. "I told you son" Been on the water since then and been able to enjoy it, especially when I am not puking. Live and learn. :-) - Joe
  7. I am really considering picking it up today. Seems like a ton of fun. :-)
  8. That's cool. 3-4 hours on the water like that. :-)
  9. Yeah, it seems like it would. I fished yesterday from the bank and was looking out into the water thinking, "man, I could be out there again". It looks like a fun thing to do also. I can get into nooks and crannies easily also I would imagine.
  10. Well, lost two things the other week that had to go bye bye. First, my John boat was sold because it had major damage (rivots coming out and also hull cracking) which were beyond marine epoxy and $$$ to fix. A guy bought it and the trailer and he was doing some stuff with it for parts. Then, my SUV tool a dump. Sold it and bought a new car and so did my wife. Bought two cars for practicality and a good deal here so I didn't get another SUV. So now I am out a boat, and a truck. Once I finish school in the next couple years I will get a truck, trailer, and a real bass boat, but until then I am stuck bank fishing. But I need to be on the water. I don't want to spend the money on another John boat and trailer because I am saving $$$. However I did go to Dicks and I found a pretty nice angling kayak with a paddle and roof rack for $465 with everything included. I saw some shows on tv and the web about this stuff. I fished from a canoe before and had fun. This kayak has to supply holes and two rod holders. Only weighs 53 pounds. Do you all think this will "hold me over" for a couple years and still be enjoyable? Thanks! Joe. :-)
  11. I caught a few today. I spoke to one of the bass over a cup of coffee. We chatted and he said they don't like the fake stuff so they spit it out. Sometimes they don't realize that they are fake and then they get hooked he said. As for pain, he said they don't feel anything. After a few crazy stares at Starbucks, I took him back to the lake and we parted ways.
  12. I think the netting of their mouths don't have feeling, but the rest does. I also heard that they hurt more when they have prey bite their mouths. I have also seen bass with some "healed" up spots in their mouths too.
  13. The email option is good too. I've done it both ways.
  14. I have an iPhone 5 and when I post pictures from my phone, I will hit "full version" at the bottom of the page and use it like I'm in my laptop.
  15. Was watching Off The Hook and saw Eric and his guest catch striped bass. While wearing flippers and a wetsuit in 50 feet of water!!!!! They were baiting eels. It was insane! They were out there for hours. :-)
  16. Fstr385, you may have caught only a few, but they are gorgeous!
  17. Mark h024, I have had my share of you tube videos too. Lol
  18. Red Earth, which one of the ones you named do you think would be a good choice channel?
  19. Over the hill is 40 I thought? My wife still says I am the biggest kid she has ever met LOL
  20. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family has been lifted up in prayer. I have put this out in our church and bass clubs as well. Please let us know if you all need anything. For now, we will miss our fellow angler. This sport has a high level of comrodery and anytime an angler is killed or otherwise injured, ill, etc, we take it seriously. We all share the common bond of bass fishing and this is something I hope and pray as many anglers as possible will remember in our fishing ventures dedicate the next bass to your brother. My condolences, Joe "who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God" (2 Corinthians 1:4 NKJV)
  21. Thanks all! Fishing today and enjoying the next two days off. Fishing tomorrow too. ;-)
